GIVING OF ONESELF TO GOD
Mt 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one,
and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other.
You cannot serve God and mammon.
22:36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37 Jesus said to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart,
and with all your soul, and with all your mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like to it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
Mr 8:34 And when he had called the people to him with his disciples
also, he said to them, Whoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and
take up his cross, and follow me.
35 For whoever will save his life shall lose it; but whoever shall lose his
life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it.
36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and
lose his own soul?
37 Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
Lu 14:33 So likewise, whoever he be of you that forsakes not all that
he has, he cannot be my disciple.
Rom 6:12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that you
should obey it in the lusts thereof.
13 Neither yield you your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin:
but yield yourselves to God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your
members as instruments of righteousness to God.
6:16 Know you not, that to whom you yield yourselves servants to obey, his
servants you are to whom you obey; whether of sin to death, or of obedience
to righteousness?
17 But God be thanked, that you were the servants of sin, but you have
obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
18 Being then made free from sin, you became the servants of righteousness.
19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh:
for as you have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity
to iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness to
holiness.
12:1 I beseech you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, that you
present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is
your reasonable service.
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be you transformed by the renewing
of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and
perfect, will of God.
12:11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;
14:7 For none of us lives to himself, and no man dies to himself.
8 For whether we live, we live to the Lord; and whether we die, we die to
the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s.
9 For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be
Lord both of the dead and living.
1 Cor 6:12 All things are lawful to me, but all things are not
expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the
power of any.
13 Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both
it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the
Lord for the body.
6:19 What? know you not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which
is in you, which you have of God, and you are not your own?
20 For you are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and
in your spirit, which are God’s.
9:24 Know you not that they which run in a race run all, but one receives
the prize? So run, that you may obtain.
25 And every man that strives for the mastery is temperate in all things.
Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.
26 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beats
the air:
27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any
means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
16:13 Watch you, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.
2 Cor 5:9 Why we labor, that, whether present or absent, we may be
accepted of him.
14 For the love of Christ constrains us; because we thus judge, that if one
died for all, then were all dead:
15 And that he died for all, that they which live should not from now on
live to themselves, but to him which died for them, and rose again.
8:5 And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to
the Lord, and to us by the will of God.
1 Th 5:9 For God has not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain
salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together
with him.
2 Tim 2:19 Nevertheless the foundation of God stands sure, having
this seal, The Lord knows them that are his. And, Let every one that names
the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver,
but also of wood and of earth; and some to honor, and some to dishonor.
21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel to
honor, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared to every good
work.
Heb 6:11 And we desire that every one of you do show the same
diligence to the full assurance of hope to the end:
12 That you be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and
patience inherit the promises.
2 Pe 1:5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith
virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience
godliness;
7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that you shall
neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 But he that lacks these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and has
forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
10 Why the rather, brothers, give diligence to make your calling and
election sure: for if you do these things, you shall never fall:
Jude 1:3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write to you of the
common salvation, it was needful for me to write to you, and exhort you that
you should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered to the
saints.
Rev 3:15 I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot: I
would you were cold or hot.
16 So then because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew
you out of my mouth.
1 Ki 8:61 Let your heart therefore be perfect with the LORD our God,
to walk in his statutes, and to keep his commandments, as at this day.
11:4 For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away
his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his
God, as was the heart of David his father.
2 Ki 17:33 They feared the LORD, and served their own gods, after the
manner of the nations whom they carried away from there.
34 To this day they do after the former manners: they fear not the LORD,
neither do they after their statutes, or after their ordinances, or after
the law and commandment which the LORD commanded the children of Jacob, whom
he named Israel;
41 So these nations feared the LORD, and served their graven images, both
their children, and their children’s children: as did their fathers, so do
they to this day.
Ps 119:37 Turn away my eyes from beholding vanity; and quicken you me
in your way.
Pr 23:26 My son, give me your heart, and let your eyes observe my
ways.
28:18 Whoever walks uprightly shall be saved: but he that is perverse in his
ways shall fall at once.
Jer 3:10 And yet for all this her treacherous sister Judah has not
turned to me with her whole heart, but feignedly, said the LORD.
Zep 1:4 I will also stretch out my hand on Judah, and on all the
inhabitants of Jerusalem; and I will cut off the remnant of Baal from this
place, and the name of the Chemarims with the priests;
5 And them that worship the host of heaven on the housetops; and them that
worship and that swear by the LORD, and that swear by Malcham;
6 And them that are turned back from the LORD; and those that have not
sought the LORD, nor inquired for him.
