FOLLOWING JESUS
Mt 4:18 And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brothers,
Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for
they were fishers.
19 And he said to them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.
20 And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.
21 And going on from there, he saw other two brothers, James the son of
Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending
their nets; and he called them.
22 And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.
10:32 Whoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also
before my Father which is in heaven.
33 But whoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my
Father which is in heaven.
10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send
peace, but a sword.
35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the
daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in
law.
36 And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household.
37 He that loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he
that loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.
38 And he that takes not his cross, and follows after me, is not worthy of
me.
39 He that finds his life shall lose it: and he that loses his life for my
sake shall find it.
16:24 Then said Jesus to his disciples, If any man will come after me, let
him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
25 For whoever will save his life shall lose it: and whoever will lose his
life for my sake shall find it.
26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose
his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels;
and then he shall reward every man according to his works.
26:31 Then said Jesus to them, All you shall be offended because of me this
night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the
flock shall be scattered abroad.
32 But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee.
33 Peter answered and said to him, Though all men shall be offended because
of you, yet will I never be offended.
34 Jesus said to him, Truly I say to you, That this night, before the cock
crow, you shall deny me thrice.
35 Peter said to him, Though I should die with you, yet will I not deny you.
Likewise also said all the disciples.
69 Now Peter sat without in the palace: and a damsel came to him, saying,
You also were with Jesus of Galilee.
70 But he denied before them all, saying, I know not what you say.
71 And when he was gone out into the porch, another maid saw him, and said
to them that were there, This fellow was also with Jesus of Nazareth.
72 And again he denied with an oath, I do not know the man.
73 And after a while came to him they that stood by, and said to Peter,
Surely you also are one of them; for your speech denudes you.
74 Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man. And
immediately the cock crew.
75 And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said to him, Before the
cock crow, you shall deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.
Mr 8:38 Whoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in
this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be
ashamed, when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.
9:38 And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in
your name, and he follows not us: and we forbade him, because he follows not
us.
39 But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a
miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me.
40 For he that is not against us is on our part.
Lu 9:57 And it came to pass, that, as they went in the way, a certain
man said to him, Lord, I will follow you wherever you go.
58 And Jesus said to him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests;
but the Son of man has not where to lay his head.
59 And he said to another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to
go and bury my father.
60 Jesus said to him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go you and preach
the kingdom of God.
61 And another also said, Lord, I will follow you; but let me first go bid
them farewell, which are at home at my house.
62 And Jesus said to him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and
looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
12:8 Also I say to you, Whoever shall confess me before men, him shall the
Son of man also confess before the angels of God:
9 But he that denies me before men shall be denied before the angels of God.
14:25 And there went great multitudes with him: and he turned, and said to
them,
26 If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and
children, and brothers, and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot
be my disciple.
27 And whoever does not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my
disciple.
28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, sits not down first, and
counts the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?
29 Lest haply, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish
it, all that behold it begin to mock him,
30 Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.
31 Or what king, going to make war against another king, sits not down first,
and consults whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that comes
against him with twenty thousand?
32 Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sends an ambassador,
and desires conditions of peace.
33 So likewise, whoever he be of you that forsakes not all that he has, he
cannot be my disciple.
Joh 6:66 From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked
no more with him.
67 Then said Jesus to the twelve, Will you also go away?
68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? you have the
words of eternal life.
69 And we believe and are sure that you are that Christ, the Son of the
living God.
7:13 However, no man spoke openly of him for fear of the Jews.
8:12 Then spoke Jesus again to them, saying, I am the light of the world: he
that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of
life.
9:17 They say to the blind man again, What say you of him, that he has
opened your eyes? He said, He is a prophet.
18 But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and
received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received
his sight.
19 And they asked them, saying, Is this your son, who you say was born blind?
how then does he now see?
20 His parents answered them and said, We know that this is our son, and
that he was born blind:
21 But by what means he now sees, we know not; or who has opened his eyes,
we know not: he is of age; ask him: he shall speak for himself.
22 These words spoke his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews
had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he
should be put out of the synagogue.
23 Therefore said his parents, He is of age; ask him.
10:26 But you believe not, because you are not of my sheep, as I said to you.
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
28 And I give to them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither
shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
12:25 He that loves his life shall lose it; and he that hates his life in
this world shall keep it to life eternal.
26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also
my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honor.
12:41 These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spoke of him.
42 Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but
because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put
out of the synagogue:
43 For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.
19:38 And after this Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but
secretly for fear of the Jews, sought Pilate that he might take away the
body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore, and took the
body of Jesus.
21:18 Truly, truly, I say to you, When you were young, you gird yourself,
and walked where you would: but when you shall be old, you shall stretch
forth your hands, and another shall gird you, and carry you where you would
not.
19 This spoke he, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when
he had spoken this, he said to him, Follow me.
20 Then Peter, turning about, sees the disciple whom Jesus loved following;
which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that
betrays you?
21 Peter seeing him said to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do?
22 Jesus said to him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to
you? follow you me.
Rom 10:9 That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus,
and shall believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you
shall be saved.
10 For with the heart man believes to righteousness; and with the mouth
confession is made to salvation.
1 Cor 11:1 Be you followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.
12:3 Why I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God
calls Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by
the Holy Ghost.
Gal 1:10 For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please
men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
Php 2:11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is
Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
2 Tim 1:7 For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of
love, and of a sound mind.
8 Be not you therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his
prisoner: but be you partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to
the power of God;
2:11 It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live
with him:
12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will
deny us:
13 If we believe not, yet he stays faithful: he cannot deny himself.
Jas 4:4 You adulterers and adulteresses, know you not that the
friendship of the world is enmity with God? whoever therefore will be a
friend of the world is the enemy of God.
2 Pe 2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as
there shall be false teachers among you, who privately shall bring in
damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring on
themselves swift destruction.
2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of
truth shall be evil spoken of.
1 Joh 2:22 Who is a liar but he that denies that Jesus is the Christ?
He is antichrist, that denies the Father and the Son.
23 Whoever denies the Son, the same has not the Father: he that acknowledges
the Son has the Father also.
4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are
of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
2 Hereby know you the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus
Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
3 And every spirit that confesses not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh
is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof you have heard
that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
4:15 Whoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwells in him,
and he in God.
2 Joh 1:7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess
not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an
antichrist.
Jude 1:4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before
of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our
God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus
Christ.
Rev 2:12 And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These
things said he which has the sharp sword with two edges;
13 I know your works, and where you dwell, even where Satan’s seat is: and
you hold fast my name, and have not denied my faith, even in those days
wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan
dwells.
3:5 He that overcomes, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I
will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his
name before my Father, and before his angels.
3:7 And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things said
he that is holy, he that is true, he that has the key of David, he that
opens, and no man shuts; and shuts, and no man opens;
8 I know your works: behold, I have set before you an open door, and no man
can shut it: for you have a little strength, and have kept my word, and have
not denied my name.
