COMMANDMENTS, TEN COMMANDMENTS
Mt 19:16 And, behold, one came and said to him, Good Master, what good thing
shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
17 And he said to him, Why call you me good? there is none good but one,
that is, God: but if you will enter into life, keep the commandments.
18 He said to him, Which? Jesus said, You shall do no murder, You shall not
commit adultery, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness,
19 Honor your father and your mother: and, You shall love your neighbor as
yourself.
20 The young man said to him, All these things have I kept from my youth up:
what lack I yet?
21 Jesus said to him, If you will be perfect, go and sell that you have, and
give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: and come and follow
me.
22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he
had great possessions.
Ex 20:1 And God spoke all these words, saying,
2 I am the LORD your God, which have brought you out of the land of Egypt,
out of the house of bondage.
3 You shall have no other gods before me.
4 You shall not make to you any graven image, or any likeness of any thing
that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the
water under the earth.
5 You shall not bow down yourself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD
your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the
children to the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
6 And showing mercy to thousands of them that love me, and keep my
commandments.
7 You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain; for the LORD
will not hold him guiltless that takes his name in vain.
8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9 Six days shall you labor, and do all your work:
10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD your God: in it you shall
not do any work, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, your manservant, nor
your maidservant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger that is within your
gates:
11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in
them is, and rested the seventh day: why the LORD blessed the sabbath day,
and hallowed it.
12 Honor your father and your mother: that your days may be long on the land
which the LORD your God gives you.
13 You shall not kill.
14 You shall not commit adultery.
15 You shall not steal.
16 You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
17 You shall not covet your neighbor’s house, you shall not covet your
neighbor’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor
his ass, nor any thing that is your neighbor’s.
24:12 And the LORD said to Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there:
and I will give you tables of stone, and a law, and commandments which I
have written; that you may teach them.
31:18 And he gave to Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him on
mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the
finger of God.
34:28 And he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he did
neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote on the tables the words of
the covenant, the ten commandments.
De 4:12 And the LORD spoke to you out of the middle of the fire: you heard
the voice of the words, but saw no similitude; only you heard a voice.
13 And he declared to you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform,
even ten commandments; and he wrote them on two tables of stone.
10:1 At that time the LORD said to me, Hew you two tables of stone like to
the first, and come up to me into the mount, and make you an ark of wood.
2 And I will write on the tables the words that were in the first tables
which you brake, and you shall put them in the ark.
3 And I made an ark of shittim wood, and hewed two tables of stone like to
the first, and went up into the mount, having the two tables in my hand.
4 And he wrote on the tables, according to the first writing, the ten
commandments, which the LORD spoke to you in the mount out of the middle of
the fire in the day of the assembly: and the LORD gave them to me.
KEEPING OF THE COMMANDMENTS
Mt 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am
not come to destroy, but to fulfill.
18 For truly I say to you, Till heaven and earth pass, one stroke or one
pronunciation mark shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
19 Whoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall
teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but
whoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the
kingdom of heaven.
15:3 But he answered and said to them, Why do you also transgress the
commandment of God by your tradition?
22:35 Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting
him, and saying,
36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37 Jesus said to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart,
and with all your soul, and with all your mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like to it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
Lu 1:5 THERE was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest
named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of
Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth.
6 And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments
and ordinances of the Lord blameless.
Joh 13:34 A new commandment I give to you, That you love one another; as I
have loved you, that you also love one another.
35 By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you have love
one to another.
14:15 If you love me, keep my commandments.
21 He that has my commandments, and keeps them, he it is that loves me: and
he that loves me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will
manifest myself to him.
22 Judas said to him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that you will manifest
yourself to us, and not to the world?
23 Jesus answered and said to him, If a man love me, he will keep my words:
and my Father will love him, and we will come to him, and make our stay with
him.
24 He that loves me not keeps not my sayings: and the word which you hear is
not mine, but the Father’s which sent me.
15:9 As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you: continue you in my
love.
10 If you keep my commandments, you shall abide in my love; even as I have
kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.
11 These things have I spoken to you, that my joy might remain in you, and
that your joy might be full.
12 This is my commandment, That you love one another, as I have loved you.
13 Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his
friends.
14 You are my friends, if you do whatever I command you.
1 Cor 7:19 Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the
keeping of the commandments of God.
1 Tim 6:13 I give you charge in the sight of God, who vivifies all things,
and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good
confession;
14 That you keep this commandment without spot, unrebukable, until the
appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:
1 Joh 2:3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his
commandments.
4 He that said, I know him, and keeps not his commandments, is a liar, and
the truth is not in him.
5 But whoever keeps his word, in him truly is the love of God perfected:
hereby know we that we are in him.
6 He that said he stays in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he
walked.
7 Brothers, I write no new commandment to you, but an old commandment which
you had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which you have
heard from the beginning.
8 Again, a new commandment I write to you, which thing is true in him and in
you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shines.
3:22 And whatever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his
commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his
Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.
24 And he that keeps his commandments dwells in him, and he in him. And
hereby we know that he stays in us, by the Spirit which he has given us.
4:19 We love him, because he first loved us.
20 If a man say, I love God, and hates his brother, he is a liar: for he
that loves not his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has
not seen?
21 And this commandment have we from him, That he who loves God love his
brother also.
5:2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and
keep his commandments.
3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his
commandments are not grievous.
2 Joh 1:5 And now I beseech you, lady, not as though I wrote a new
commandment to you, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love
one another.
6 And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the
commandment, That, as you have heard from the beginning, you should walk in
it.
Lev 18:5 You shall therefore keep my statutes, and my judgments: which if a
man do, he shall live in them: I am the LORD.
De 4:39 Know therefore this day, and consider it in your heart, that the
LORD he is God in heaven above, and on the earth beneath: there is none
else.
40 You shall keep therefore his statutes, and his commandments, which I
command you this day, that it may go well with you, and with your children
after you, and that you may prolong your days on the earth, which the LORD
your God gives you, for ever.
11:1 Therefore you shall love the LORD your God, and keep his charge, and
his statutes, and his judgments, and his commandments, always.
2 Ch 24:20 And the Spirit of God came on Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the
priest, which stood above the people, and said to them, Thus said God, Why
transgress you the commandments of the LORD, that you cannot prosper?
because you have forsaken the LORD, he has also forsaken you.
Ps 18:20 The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to
the cleanness of my hands has he recompensed me.
21 For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from
my God.
22 For all his judgments were before me, and I did not put away his statutes
from me.
23 I was also upright before him, and I kept myself from my iniquity.
24 Therefore has the LORD recompensed me according to my righteousness,
according to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight.
50:16 But to the wicked God said, What have you to do to declare my
statutes, or that you should take my covenant in your mouth?
17 Seeing you hate instruction, and casts my words behind you.
119:47 And I will delight myself in your commandments, which I have loved.
48 My hands also will I lift up to your commandments, which I have loved;
and I will meditate in your statutes.
96 I have seen an end of all perfection: but your commandment is exceeding
broad.
97 O how I love your law! it is my meditation all the day.
98 You through your commandments have made me wiser than my enemies: for
they are ever with me.
112 I have inclined my heart to perform your statutes always, even to the
end.
115 Depart from me, you evildoers: for I will keep the commandments of my
God.
118 You have trodden down all them that err from your statutes: for their
deceit is falsehood.
127 Therefore I love your commandments above gold; yes, above fine gold.
143 Trouble and anguish have taken hold on me: yet your commandments are my
delights.
Pr 10:8 The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool
shall fall.
9 He that walks uprightly walks surely: but he that perverts his ways shall
be known.
19:16 He that keeps the commandment keeps his own soul; but he that despises
his ways shall die.
Ec 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep
his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing,
whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
Isa 42:21 The LORD is well pleased for his righteousness’ sake; he will
magnify the law, and make it honorable.
48:18 O that you had listened to my commandments! then had your peace been
as a river, and your righteousness as the waves of the sea:
Eze 36:26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put
within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I
will give you an heart of flesh.
27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my
statutes, and you shall keep my judgments, and do them.
