GETTING ANGRY, HATE
Mt 5:21 You have heard that it was said of them of old time, You shall not
kill; and whoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:
22 But I say to you, That whoever is angry with his brother without a cause
shall be in danger of the judgment: and whoever shall say to his brother,
Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whoever shall say, You fool,
shall be in danger of hell fire.
Mr 3:5 And when he had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved
for the hardness of their hearts, he said to the man, Stretch forth your
hand. And he stretched it out: and his hand was restored whole as the other.
Lu 4:28 And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were
filled with wrath,
29 And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him to the brow of
the hill where on their city was built, that they might cast him down
headlong.
30 But he passing through the middle of them went his way,
Acts 5:31 Him has God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a
Savior, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.
32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost,
whom God has given to them that obey him.
33 When they heard that, they were cut to the heart, and took counsel to
slay them.
7:52 Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have
slain them which showed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom you
have been now the betrayers and murderers:
53 Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept
it.
54 When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they
gnashed on him with their teeth.
Rom 12:18 If it be possible, as much as lies in you, live peaceably with all
men.
19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place to wrath:
for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, said the Lord.
20 Therefore if your enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink:
for in so doing you shall heap coals of fire on his head.
21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
13:13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness,
not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.
14 But put you on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the
flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof.
14:1 Him that is weak in the faith receive you, but not to doubtful
disputations.
Gal 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery,
fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, jealousies, wrath, strife,
seditions, heresies,
21 Contentions, murders, drunkenness, revelings, and such like: of the which
I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do
such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
6:1 Brothers, if a man be overtaken in a fault, you which are spiritual,
restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering yourself, lest
you also be tempted.
Eph 2:3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the
lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and
were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
4:26 Be you angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down on your wrath:
27 Neither give place to the devil.
4:31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamor, and evil speaking,
be put away from you, with all malice:
32 And be you kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another,
even as God for Christ’s sake has forgiven you.
6:4 And, you fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up
in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
Col 3:8 But now you also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy,
filthy communication out of your mouth.
1 Tim 2:8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands,
without wrath and doubting.
2 Tim 2:23 But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do
engender strifes.
24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle to all men,
apt to teach, patient,
25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure
will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
Tit 1:7 For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not
self-willed, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to
filthy lucre;
8 But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy,
temperate;
3:3 For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived,
serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and
hating one another.
Jas 1:19 Why, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to
speak, slow to wrath:
20 For the wrath of man works not the righteousness of God.
3:9 Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men,
which are made after the similitude of God.
10 Out of the same mouth proceeds blessing and cursing. My brothers, these
things ought not so to be.
11 Does a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?
12 Can the fig tree, my brothers, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs?
so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.
13 Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him show out
of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.
14 But if you have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and
lie not against the truth.
15 This wisdom descends not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.
16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.
17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle,
and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality,
and without hypocrisy.
1 Joh 2:9 He that said he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in
darkness even until now.
10 He that loves his brother stays in the light, and there is none occasion
of stumbling in him.
11 But he that hates his brother is in darkness, and walks in darkness, and
knows not where he goes, because that darkness has blinded his eyes.
3:14 We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the
brothers. He that loves not his brother stays in death.
15 Whoever hates his brother is a murderer: and you know that no murderer
has eternal life abiding in him.
4:20 If a man say, I love God, and hates his brother, he is a liar: for he
that loves not his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has
not seen?
21 And this commandment have we from him, That he who loves God love his
brother also.
Gen 4:3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the
fruit of the ground an offering to the LORD.
4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of the fat
thereof. And the LORD had respect to Abel and to his offering:
5 But to Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very
wroth, and his countenance fell.
6 And the LORD said to Cain, Why are you wroth? and why is your countenance
fallen?
7 If you do well, shall you not be accepted? and if you do not well, sin
lies at the door. And to you shall be his desire, and you shall rule over
him.
8 And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were
in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.
9 And the LORD said to Cain, Where is Abel your brother? And he said, I know
not: Am I my brother’s keeper?
10 And he said, What have you done? the voice of your brother’s blood cries
to me from the ground.
27:41 And Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing with which his father
blessed him: and Esau said in his heart, The days of mourning for my father
are at hand; then will I slay my brother Jacob.
37:2 These are the generations of Jacob. Joseph, being seventeen years old,
was feeding the flock with his brothers; and the lad was with the sons of
Bilhah, and with the sons of Zilpah, his father’s wives: and Joseph brought
to his father their evil report.
3 Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son
of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colors.
4 And when his brothers saw that their father loved him more than all his
brothers, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably to him.
5 And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brothers: and they hated
him yet the more.
49:5 Simeon and Levi are brothers; instruments of cruelty are in their
habitations.
6 O my soul, come not you into their secret; to their assembly, my honor, be
not you united: for in their anger they slew a man, and in their self-will
they dig down a wall.
7 Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce; and their wrath, for it was
cruel: I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel.
Lev 19:17 You shall not hate your brother in your heart: you shall in any
wise rebuke your neighbor, and not suffer sin on him.
18 You shall not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of your
people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the LORD.
De 19:4 And this is the case of the slayer, which shall flee thither, that
he may live: Whoever kills his neighbor ignorantly, whom he hated not in
time past;
5 As when a man goes into the wood with his neighbor to hew wood, and his
hand fetches a stroke with the ax to cut down the tree, and the head slips
from the helve, and lights on his neighbor, that he die; he shall flee to
one of those cities, and live:
6 Lest the avenger of the blood pursue the slayer, while his heart is hot,
and overtake him, because the way is long, and slay him; whereas he was not
worthy of death, inasmuch as he hated him not in time past.
11 But if any man hate his neighbor, and lie in wait for him, and rise up
against him, and smite him mortally that he die, and flees into one of these
cities:
12 Then the elders of his city shall send and fetch him there, and deliver
him into the hand of the avenger of blood, that he may die.
1 Sam 18:5 And David went out wherever Saul sent him, and behaved himself
wisely: and Saul set him over the men of war, and he was accepted in the
sight of all the people, and also in the sight of Saul’s servants.
6 And it came to pass as they came, when David was returned from the
slaughter of the Philistine, that the women came out of all cities of
Israel, singing and dancing, to meet king Saul, with tabrets, with joy, and
with instruments of music.
7 And the women answered one another as they played, and said, Saul has
slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands.
8 And Saul was very wroth, and the saying displeased him; and he said, They
have ascribed to David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed but
thousands: and what can he have more but the kingdom?
9 And Saul eyed David from that day and forward.
10 And it came to pass on the morrow, that the evil spirit from God came on
Saul, and he prophesied in the middle of the house: and David played with
his hand, as at other times: and there was a javelin in Saul’s hand.
11 And Saul cast the javelin; for he said, I will smite David even to the
wall with it. And David avoided out of his presence twice.
2 Sam 12:5 And David’s anger was greatly kindled against the man; and he
said to Nathan, As the LORD lives, the man that has done this thing shall
surely die:
6 And he shall restore the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing, and
because he had no pity.
7 And Nathan said to David, You are the man. Thus said the LORD God of
Israel, I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you out of the hand
of Saul;
Est 3:1 After these things did king Ahasuerus promote Haman the son of
Hammedatha the Agagite, and advanced him, and set his seat above all the
princes that were with him.
2 And all the king’s servants, that were in the king’s gate, bowed, and
reverenced Haman: for the king had so commanded concerning him. But Mordecai
bowed not, nor did him reverence.
3 Then the king’s servants, which were in the king’s gate, said to Mordecai,
Why transgress you the king’s commandment?
4 Now it came to pass, when they spoke daily to him, and he listened not to
them, that they told Haman, to see whether Mordecai’s matters would stand:
for he had told them that he was a Jew.
5 And when Haman saw that Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence, then
was Haman full of wrath.
6 And he thought scorn to lay hands on Mordecai alone; for they had showed
him the people of Mordecai: why Haman sought to destroy all the Jews that
were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, even the people of Mordecai.
Ps 37:7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not yourself
because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked
devices to pass.
8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not yourself in any wise to do
evil.
Pr 6:34 For jealousy is the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in
the day of vengeance.
35 He will not regard any ransom; neither will he rest content, though you
give many gifts.
10:12 Hatred stirs up strifes: but love covers all sins.
12:16 A fool’s wrath is presently known: but a prudent man covers shame.
14:17 He that is soon angry deals foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is
hated.
14:29 He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is
hasty of spirit exalts folly.
30 A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the
bones.
15:1 A soft answer turns away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.
15:17 Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and
hatred therewith.
18 A wrathful man stirs up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeases
strife.
19:19 A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment: for if you deliver him,
yet you must do it again.
21:9 It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling
woman in a wide house.
19 It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an
angry woman.
21:14 A gift in secret pacifies anger: and a reward in the bosom strong
wrath.
22:24 Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man you shall
not go:
25:17 Withdraw your foot from your neighbor’s house; lest he be weary of you,
and so hate you.
25:28 He that has no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken
down, and without walls.
26:24 He that hates dissembles with his lips, and lays up deceit within him;
25 When he speaks fair, believe him not: for there are seven abominations in
his heart.
26 Whose hatred is covered by deceit, his wickedness shall be showed before
the whole congregation.
27:3 A stone is heavy, and the sand weighty; but a fool’s wrath is heavier
than them both.
4 Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous; but who is able to stand before
envy?
29:8 Scornful men bring a city into a snare: but wise men turn away wrath.
29:22 An angry man stirs up strife, and a furious man abounds in
transgression.
30:33 Surely the churning of milk brings forth butter, and the wringing of
the nose brings forth blood: so the forcing of wrath brings forth strife.
Ec 7:9 Be not hasty in your spirit to be angry: for anger rests in the bosom
of fools.
7:14 In the day of prosperity be joyful, but in the day of adversity
consider: God also has set the one over against the other, to the end that
man should find nothing after him.
Dan 3:19 Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his visage
was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: therefore he spoke, and
commanded that they should heat the furnace one seven times more than it was
wont to be heated.
Hos 7:16 They return, but not to the most High: they are like a deceitful
bow: their princes shall fall by the sword for the rage of their tongue:
this shall be their derision in the land of Egypt.
Aam 1:11 Thus said the LORD; For three transgressions of Edom, and for four,
I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he did pursue his
brother with the sword, and did cast off all pity, and his anger did tear
perpetually, and he kept his wrath for ever:
