GOOD DEEDS, GOOD WORKS
Mt 5:7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
5:14 You are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be
hid.
15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a
candlestick; and it gives light to all that are in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works,
and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
5:42 Give to him that asks you, and from him that would borrow of you turn
not you away.
10:41 He that receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a
prophet’s reward; and he that receives a righteous man in the name of a
righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward.
42 And whoever shall give to drink to one of these little ones a cup of cold
water only in the name of a disciple, truly I say to you, he shall in no
wise lose his reward.
19:21 Jesus said to him, If you will be perfect, go and sell that you have,
and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: and come and
follow me.
25:34 Then shall the King say to them on his right hand, Come, you blessed
of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of
the world:
35 For I was an hungered, and you gave me meat: I was thirsty, and you gave
me drink: I was a stranger, and you took me in:
36 Naked, and you clothed me: I was sick, and you visited me: I was in
prison, and you came to me.
37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we you an
hungered, and fed you? or thirsty, and gave you drink?
38 When saw we you a stranger, and took you in? or naked, and clothed you?
39 Or when saw we you sick, or in prison, and came to you?
40 And the King shall answer and say to them, Truly I say to you, Inasmuch
as you have done it to one of the least of these my brothers, you have done
it to me.
Mr 14:7 For you have the poor with you always, and whenever you will
you may do them good: but me you have not always.
Lu 3:10 And the people asked him, saying, What shall we do then?
11 He answers and said to them, He that has two coats, let him impart to him
that has none; and he that has meat, let him do likewise.
10:25 And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying,
Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
26 He said to him, What is written in the law? how read you?
27 And he answering said, You shall love the Lord your God with all your
heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your
mind; and your neighbor as yourself.
28 And he said to him, You have answered right: this do, and you shall live.
29 But he, willing to justify himself, said to Jesus, And who is my neighbor?
30 And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to
Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and
wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.
31 And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw
him, he passed by on the other side.
32 And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him,
and passed by on the other side.
33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he
saw him, he had compassion on him,
34 And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and
set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
35 And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them
to the host, and said to him, Take care of him; and whatever you spend more,
when I come again, I will repay you.
36 Which now of these three, think you, was neighbor to him that fell among
the thieves?
37 And he said, He that showed mercy on him. Then said Jesus to him, Go, and
do you likewise.
14:12 Then said he also to him that bade him, When you make a dinner or a
supper, call not your friends, nor your brothers, neither your kinsmen, nor
your rich neighbors; lest they also bid you again, and a recompense be made
you.
13 But when you make a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind:
14 And you shall be blessed; for they cannot recompense you: for you shall
be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.
Joh 10:32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I showed you from
my Father; for which of those works do you stone me?
33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone you not; but for
blasphemy; and because that you, being a man, make yourself God.
Acts 2:44 And all that believed were together, and had all things
common;
45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as
every man had need.
9:36 Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by
interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and
giving of alms which she did.
10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power:
who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil;
for God was with him.
20:35 I have showed you all things, how that so laboring you ought to
support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said,
It is more blessed to give than to receive.
Rom 12:8 Or he that exhorts, on exhortation: he that gives, let him
do it with simplicity; he that rules, with diligence; he that shows mercy,
with cheerfulness.
2 Cor 8:21 Providing for honest things, not only in the sight of the
Lord, but also in the sight of men.
9:8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that you, always
having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:
Gal 2:10 Only they would that we should remember the poor; the same
which I also was forward to do.
6:2 Bear you one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap,
if we faint not.
10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good to all men, especially
to them who are of the household of faith.
Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to good
works, which God has before ordained that we should walk in them.
4:28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labor, working
with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that
needs.
Col 1:9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not
cease to pray for you, and to desire that you might be filled with the
knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
10 That you might walk worthy of the Lord to all pleasing, being fruitful in
every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
1 Th 5:15 See that none render evil for evil to any man; but ever
follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.
2 Th 3:13 But you, brothers, be not weary in well doing.
1 Tim 2:8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy
hands, without wrath and doubting.
9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with
modesty and sobriety; not with braided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly
array;
10 But (which becomes women professing godliness) with good works.
5:9 Let not a widow be taken into the number under three score years old,
having been the wife of one man.
10 Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she
have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints’ feet, if she have
relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work.
6:17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not high minded,
nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who gives us richly
all things to enjoy;
18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute,
willing to communicate;
19 Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to
come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.
2 Tim 2:20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold
and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honor, and some to
dishonor.
21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel to
honor, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared to every good
work.
3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for
doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished to all good
works.
Tit 1:16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him,
being abominable, and disobedient, and to every good work reprobate.
2:7 In all things showing yourself a pattern of good works: in doctrine
showing soundness, gravity, sincerity,
8 Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary
part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.
2:14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and
purify to himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
3:1 Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey
magistrates, to be ready to every good work,
2 To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, showing all
meekness to all men.
3:8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that you affirm
constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to
maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men.
3:14 And let our’s also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses,
that they be not unfruitful.
Heb 6:10 For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labor of
love, which you have showed toward his name, in that you have ministered to
the saints, and do minister.
11 And we desire that every one of you do show the same diligence to the
full assurance of hope to the end:
10:24 And let us consider one another to provoke to love and to good works:
25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some
is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as you see the day
approaching.
13:3 Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which
suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.
13:16 But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices
God is well pleased.
Jas 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is
this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep
himself unspotted from the world.
2:14 What does it profit, my brothers, though a man say he has faith, and
have not works? can faith save him?
15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
16 And one of you say to them, Depart in peace, be you warmed and filled;
notwithstanding you give them not those things which are needful to the body;
what does it profit?
17 Even so faith, if it has not works, is dead, being alone.
1 Pe 2:11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims,
abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
12 Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they
speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they
shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.
2:15 For so is the will of God, that with well doing you may put to silence
the ignorance of foolish men:
1 Joh 3:17 But whoever has this world’s good, and sees his brother
have need, and shuts up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwells the
love of God in him?
18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in
deed and in truth.
De 15:7 If there be among you a poor man of one of your brothers
within any of your gates in your land which the LORD your God gives you, you
shall not harden your heart, nor shut your hand from your poor brother:
8 But you shall open your hand wide to him, and shall surely lend him
sufficient for his need, in that which he wants.
Job 6:14 To him that is afflicted pity should be showed from his
friend; but he forsakes the fear of the Almighty.
Pr 3:27 Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in
the power of your hand to do it.
28 Say not to your neighbor, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give;
when you have it by you.
14:1 He that despises his neighbor sins: but he that has mercy on the poor,
happy is he.
17:13 Whoever rewards evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house.
19:17 He that has pity on the poor lends to the LORD; and that which he has
given will he pay him again.
21:13 Whoever stops his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry
himself, but shall not be heard.
22:9 He that has a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he gives of his bread
to the poor.
25:21 If your enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty,
give him water to drink:
28:27 He that gives to the poor shall not lack: but he that hides his eyes
shall have many a curse.
29:7 The righteous considers the cause of the poor: but the wicked regards
not to know it.
Isa 58:6 Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands
of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free,
and that you break every yoke?
7 Is it not to deal your bread to the hungry, and that you bring the poor
that are cast out to your house? when you see the naked, that you cover him;
and that you hide not yourself from your own flesh?
