ENCOURAGEMENT, ENCOURAGE, PASTORAL CARE
Lu 21:28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up,
and lift up your heads; for your redemption draws near.
22:32 But I have prayed for you, that your faith fail not: and when you are
converted, strengthen your brothers.
Acts 14:21 And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and
had taught many, they returned again to Lystra, and to Iconium, and Antioch,
22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in
the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom
of God.
15:32 And Judas and Silas, being prophets also themselves, exhorted the
brothers with many words, and confirmed them.
15:40 And Paul chose Silas, and departed, being recommended by the brothers
to the grace of God.
41 And he went through Syria and Cilicia, confirming the churches.
16:40 And they went out of the prison, and entered into the house of Lydia:
and when they had seen the brothers, they comforted them, and departed.
18:22 And when he had landed at Caesarea, and gone up, and saluted the
church, he went down to Antioch.
23 And after he had spent some time there, he departed, and went over all
the country of Galatia and Phrygia in order, strengthening all the disciples.
20:1 And after the uproar was ceased, Paul called to him the disciples, and
embraced them, and departed for to go into Macedonia.
27:22 And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss
of any man’s life among you, but of the ship.
23 For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I
serve,
24 Saying, Fear not, Paul; you must be brought before Caesar: and, see, God
has given you all them that sail with you.
25 Why, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as
it was told me.
Rom 12:15 Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that
weep.
14:1 Him that is weak in the faith receive you, but not to doubtful
disputations.
2 Cor 1:3 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the
Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;
4 Who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort
them which are in any trouble, by the comfort with which we ourselves are
comforted of God.
Gal 6:2 Bear you one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of
Christ.
Php 2:19 But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timotheus shortly to
you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state.
20 For I have no man like minded, who will naturally care for your state.
1 Th 2:10 You are witnesses, and God also, how piously and justly and
blamelessly we behaved ourselves among you that believe:
11 As you know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you,
as a father does his children,
3:1 Why when we could no longer forbear, we thought it good to be left at
Athens alone;
2 And sent Timotheus, our brother, and minister of God, and our fellow
laborer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you, and to comfort you
concerning your faith:
3 That no man should be moved by these afflictions: for yourselves know that
we are appointed thereunto.
4:18 Why comfort one another with these words.
5:14 Now we exhort you, brothers, warn them that are unruly, comfort the
feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
Heb 10:23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without
wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
24 And let us consider one another to provoke to love and to good works:
13:3 Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which
suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.
Rev 3:1 And to the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things
said he that has the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know your
works, that you have a name that you live, and are dead.
2 Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to
die: for I have not found your works perfect before God.
De 3:28 But charge Joshua, and encourage him, and strengthen him: for
he shall go over before this people, and he shall cause them to inherit the
land which you shall see.
31:6 Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for
the LORD your God, he it is that does go with you; he will not fail you, nor
forsake you.
7 And Moses called to Joshua, and said to him in the sight of all Israel, Be
strong and of a good courage: for you must go with this people to the land
which the LORD has sworn to their fathers to give them; and you shall cause
them to inherit it.
8 And the LORD, he it is that does go before you; he will be with you, he
will not fail you, neither forsake you: fear not, neither be dismayed.
Jos 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth; but
you shall meditate therein day and night, that you may observe to do
according to all that is written therein: for then you shall make your way
prosperous, and then you shall have good success.
9 Have not I commanded you? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid,
neither be you dismayed: for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.
2 Sam 10:2 Then said David, I will show kindness to Hanun the son of
Nahash, as his father showed kindness to me. And David sent to comfort him
by the hand of his servants for his father. And David’s servants came into
the land of the children of Ammon.
3 And the princes of the children of Ammon said to Hanun their lord, Think
you that David does honor your father, that he has sent comforters to you?
has not David rather sent his servants to you, to search the city, and to
spy it out, and to overthrow it?
Job 2:11 Now when Job’s three friends heard of all this evil that was
come on him, they came every one from his own place; Eliphaz the Temanite,
and Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite: for they had made an
appointment together to come to mourn with him and to comfort him.
12 And when they lifted up their eyes afar off, and knew him not, they
lifted up their voice, and wept; and they rent every one his mantle, and
sprinkled dust on their heads toward heaven.
4:1 Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said,
2 If we assay to commune with you, will you be grieved? but who can withhold
himself from speaking?
3 Behold, you have instructed many, and you have strengthened the weak hands.
4 Your words have upheld him that was falling, and you have strengthened the
feeble knees.
5 But now it is come on you, and you faint; it touches you, and you are
troubled.
6 Is not this your fear, your confidence, your hope, and the uprightness of
your ways?
13:4 But you are forgers of lies, you are all physicians of no value.
5 O that you would altogether hold your peace! and it should be your wisdom.
16:1 Then Job answered and said,
2 I have heard many such things: miserable comforters are you all.
3 Shall vain words have an end? or what emboldens you that you answer?
4 I also could speak as you do: if your soul were in my soul’s stead, I
could heap up words against you, and shake my head at you.
5 But I would strengthen you with my mouth, and the moving of my lips should
assuage your grief.
21:27 Behold, I know your thoughts, and the devices which you wrongfully
imagine against me.
28 For you say, Where is the house of the prince? and where are the dwelling
places of the wicked?
34 How then comfort you me in vain, seeing in your answers there remains
falsehood?
29:13 The blessing of him that was ready to perish came on me: and I caused
the widow’s heart to sing for joy.
16 I was a father to the poor: and the cause which I knew not I searched
out.
29:23 And they waited for me as for the rain; and they opened their mouth
wide as for the latter rain.
24 If I laughed on them, they believed it not; and the light of my
countenance they cast not down.
25 I chose out their way, and sat chief, and dwelled as a king in the army,
as one that comforts the mourners.
30:25 Did not I weep for him that was in trouble? was not my soul grieved
for the poor?
33:6 Behold, I am according to your wish in God’s stead: I also am formed
out of the clay.
42:10 And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his
friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.
11 Then came there to him all his brothers, and all his sisters, and all
they that had been of his acquaintance before, and did eat bread with him in
his house: and they bemoaned him, and comforted him over all the evil that
the LORD had brought on him: every man also gave him a piece of money, and
every one an earring of gold.
Ps 27:14 Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall
strengthen your heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
31:24 Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all you that
hope in the LORD.
35:13 But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I
humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into my own bosom.
14 I behaved myself as though he had been my friend or brother: I bowed down
heavily, as one that mourns for his mother.
42:5 Why are you cast down, O my soul? and why are you disquieted in me?
hope you in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.
11 Why are you cast down, O my soul? and why are you disquieted within me?
hope you in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my
countenance, and my God.
Pr 12:25 Heaviness in the heart of man makes it stoop: but a good
word makes it glad.
18:13 He that answers a matter before he hears it, it is folly and shame to
him.
21:28 A false witness shall perish: but the man that hears speaks constantly.
25:20 As he that takes away a garment in cold weather, and as vinegar on
nitre, so is he that singes songs to an heavy heart.
