NAMES AND SYMBOLS OF THE CHILDREN OF GOD
Mt 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water to repentance. but he that
comes after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he
shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:
12 Whose fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly purge his floor, and
gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with
unquenchable fire.
5:13 You are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his flavor,
with which shall it be salted? it is thereafter good for nothing, but to be
cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
14 You are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be
hid.
15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a
candlestick; and it gives light to all that are in the house.
10:24 The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord.
13:3 And he spoke many things to them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower
went forth to sow;
8 But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundred
times, some sixty times, some thirty times.
9 Who has ears to hear, let him hear.
13:29 But he said, No; lest while you gather up the tares, you root up also
the wheat with them.
30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I
will say to the reapers, Gather you together first the tares, and bind them
in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.
13:37 He answered and said to them, He that sows the good seed is the Son of
man;
38 The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom;
but the tares are the children of the wicked one;
13:43 Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of
their Father. Who has ears to hear, let him hear.
13:47 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like to a net, that was cast into the
sea, and gathered of every kind:
48 Which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered
the good into vessels, but cast the bad away.
25:31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels
with him, then shall he sit on the throne of his glory:
32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them
one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats:
33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
34 Then shall the King say to them on his right hand, Come, you blessed of
my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the
world:
Lu 8:21 And he answered and said to them, My mother and my brothers
are these which hear the word of God, and do it.
16:8 And the lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely:
for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the
children of light.
20:35 But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the
resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:
36 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal to the angels; and are
the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.
Joh 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become
the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
10:16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must
bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one
shepherd.
15:4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself,
except it abide in the vine; no more can you, except you abide in me.
5 I am the vine, you are the branches: He that stays in me, and I in him,
the same brings forth much fruit: for without me you can do nothing.
15:8 Herein is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit; so shall you
be my disciples.
15:14 You are my friends, if you do whatever I command you.
15 From now on I call you not servants; for the servant knows not what his
lord does: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard
of my Father I have made known to you.
20:17 Jesus said to her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my
Father: but go to my brothers, and say to them, I ascend to my Father, and
your Father; and to my God, and your God.
21:15 So when they had dined, Jesus said to Simon Peter, Simon, son of
Jonas, love you me more than these? He said to him, Yes, Lord; you know that
I love you. He said to him, Feed my lambs.
16 He said to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, love you me?
He said to him, Yes, Lord; you know that I love you. He said to him, Feed my
sheep.
17 He said to him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, love you me? Peter
was grieved because he said to him the third time, Love you me? And he said
to him, Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you. Jesus said to
him, Feed my sheep.
Acts 11:26 And when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. And
it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church,
and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in
Antioch.
20:28 Take heed therefore to yourselves, and to all the flock, over the
which the Holy Ghost has made you overseers, to feed the church of God,
which he has purchased with his own blood.
29 For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in
among you, not sparing the flock.
20:32 And now, brothers, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace,
which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them
which are sanctified.
26:28 Then Agrippa said to Paul, Almost you persuade me to be a Christian.
28:21 And they said to him, We neither received letters out of Judaea
concerning you, neither any of the brothers that came showed or spoke any
harm of you.
22 But we desire to hear of you what you think: for as concerning this sect,
we know that every where it is spoken against.
Rom 1:7 To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints:
Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
8:17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ;
if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
9:8 That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the
children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.
9:22 What if God, willing to show his wrath, and to make his power known,
endured with much long-suffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:
23 And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of
mercy, which he had before prepared to glory,
9:24 Even us, whom he has called, not of the Jews only, but also of the
Gentiles?
25 As he said also in Osee, I will call them my people, which were not my
people; and her beloved, which was not beloved.
26 And it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said to them,
You are not my people; there shall they be called the children of the living
God.
12:4 For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the
same office:
5 So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of
another.
1 Cor 1:2 To the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are
sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every
place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both their’s and our’s:
3:9 For we are laborers together with God: you are God’s husbandry, you are
God’s building.
10 According to the grace of God which is given to me, as a wise master
builder, I have laid the foundation, and another builds thereon. But let
every man take heed how he builds thereupon.
11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus
Christ.
3:16 Know you not that you are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God
dwells in you?
17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the
temple of God is holy, which temple you are.
6:15 Know you not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then
take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God
forbid.
12:12 For as the body is one, and has many members, and all the members of
that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.
13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews
or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink
into one Spirit.
14 For the body is not one member, but many.
15 If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body;
is it therefore not of the body?
16 And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body;
is it therefore not of the body?
17 If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were
hearing, where were the smelling?
18 But now has God set the members every one of them in the body, as it has
pleased him.
19 And if they were all one member, where were the body?
20 But now are they many members, yet but one body.
21 And the eye cannot say to the hand, I have no need of you: nor again the
head to the feet, I have no need of you.
22 No, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble,
are necessary:
23 And those members of the body, which we think to be less honorable, on
these we bestow more abundant honor; and our uncomely parts have more
abundant comeliness.
24 For our comely parts have no need: but God has tempered the body together,
having given more abundant honor to that part which lacked.
25 That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should
have the same care one for another.
26 And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one
member be honored, all the members rejoice with it.
27 Now you are the body of Christ, and members in particular.
28 And God has set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets,
thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps,
governments, diversities of tongues.
15:23 But every man in his own order: Christ the first fruits; afterward
they that are Christ’s at his coming.
2 Cor 3:3 For as much as you are manifestly declared to be the letter
of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the
living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.
6:1 We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that you receive
not the grace of God in vain.
6:15 And what concord has Christ with Belial? or what part has he that
believes with an infidel?
16 And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? for you are the
temple of the living God; as God has said, I will dwell in them, and walk in
them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
17 Why come out from among them, and be you separate, said the Lord, and
touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.
18 And will be a Father to you, and you shall be my sons and daughters, said
the Lord Almighty.
11:1 Would to God you could bear with me a little in my folly: and indeed
bear with me.
2 For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to
one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.
Gal 3:7 Know you therefore that they which are of faith, the same are
the children of Abraham.
3:29 And if you be Christ’s, then are you Abraham’s seed, and heirs
according to the promise.
4:7 Why you are no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of
God through Christ.
4:28 Now we, brothers, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.
6:16 And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy,
and on the Israel of God.
Eph 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the
saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:
1:22 And has put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over
all things to the church,
23 Which is his body, the fullness of him that fills all in all.
2:19 Now therefore you are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow
citizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
20 And are built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus
Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
21 In whom all the building fitly framed together grows to an holy temple in
the Lord:
22 In whom you also are built together for an habitation of God through the
Spirit.
5:1 Be you therefore followers of God, as dear children;
5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of
the church: and he is the savior of the body.
25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave
himself for it;
26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the
word,
27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot,
or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without
blemish.
30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
6:6 Not with eye-service, as men pleasers; but as the servants of Christ,
doing the will of God from the heart;
Col 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the
beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the
preeminence.
24 Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is
behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body’s sake, which
is the church:
3:12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of
mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, long-suffering;
1 Th 5:5 You are all the children of light, and the children of the
day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
1 Tim 3:14 These things write I to you, hoping to come to you shortly:
15 But if I tarry long, that you may know how you ought to behave yourself
in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and
ground of the truth.
6:11 But you, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after
righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
2 Tim 2:3 You therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus
Christ.
4 No man that wars entangles himself with the affairs of this life; that he
may please him who has chosen him to be a soldier.
5 And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he
strive lawfully.
6 The farmer that labors must be first partaker of the fruits.
2:20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver,
but also of wood and of earth; and some to honor, and some to dishonor.
21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel to
honor, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared to every good
work.
Heb 3:1 Why, holy brothers, partakers of the heavenly calling,
consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;
3:6 But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold
fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm to the end.
6:17 Wherein God, willing more abundantly to show to the heirs of promise
the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath:
10:21 And having an high priest over the house of God;
12:22 But you are come to mount Sion, and to the city of the living God, the
heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,
23 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in
heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made
perfect,
Jas 2:5 Listen, my beloved brothers, Has not God chosen the poor of
this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he has promised to
them that love him?
1 Pe 1:1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers
scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,
2:5 You also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy
priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus
Christ.
2:9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a
peculiar people; that you should show forth the praises of him who has
called you out of darkness into his marvelous light;
10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God:
which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
3:7 Likewise, you husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving
honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of
the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
5:2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof,
not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;
3 Neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being ensamples to the
flock.
4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, you shall receive a crown of
glory that fades not away.
5:13 The church that is at Babylon, elected together with you, salutes you;
and so does Marcus my son.
2 Pe 2:9 The Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations,
and to reserve the unjust to the day of judgment to be punished:
1 Joh 3:1 Behold, what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us,
that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knows us not,
because it knew him not.
Rev 1:5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the
first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. To him
that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
6 And has made us kings and priests to God and his Father; to him be glory
and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
5:10 And have made us to our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on
the earth.
6:11 And white robes were given to every one of them; and it was said to
them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellow
servants also and their brothers, that should be killed as they were, should
be fulfilled.
17:14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them:
for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are
called, and chosen, and faithful.
19:7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honor to him: for the marriage of
the Lamb is come, and his wife has made herself ready.
8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and
white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.
Ex 19:5 Now therefore, if you will obey my voice indeed, and keep my
covenant, then you shall be a peculiar treasure to me above all people: for
all the earth is mine:
6 And you shall be to me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are
the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.
De 7:6 For you are an holy people to the LORD your God: the LORD your
God has chosen you to be a special people to himself, above all people that
are on the face of the earth.
Ps 14:5 There were they in great fear: for God is in the generation
of the righteous.
79:13 So we your people and sheep of your pasture will give you thanks for
ever: we will show forth your praise to all generations.
89:5 And the heavens shall praise your wonders, O LORD: your faithfulness
also in the congregation of the saints.
95:7 For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep
of his hand. To day if you will hear his voice,
100:3 Know you that the LORD he is God: it is he that has made us, and not
we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
111:1 Praise you the LORD. I will praise the LORD with my whole heart, in
the assembly of the upright, and in the congregation.
149:1 Praise you the LORD. Sing to the LORD a new song, and his praise in
the congregation of saints.
Isa 60:21 Your people also shall be all righteous: they shall inherit
the land for ever, the branch of my planting, the work of my hands, that I
may be glorified.
61:3 To appoint to them that mourn in Zion, to give to them beauty for ashes,
the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of
heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of
the LORD, that he might be glorified.
61:6 But you shall be named the Priests of the LORD: men shall call you the
Ministers of our God: you shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, and in their
glory shall you boast yourselves.
62:11 Behold, the LORD has proclaimed to the end of the world, Say you to
the daughter of Zion, Behold, your salvation comes; behold, his reward is
with him, and his work before him.
12 And they shall call them, The holy people, The redeemed of the LORD: and
you shall be called, Sought out, A city not forsaken.
Eze 34:15 I will feed my flock, and I will cause them to lie down,
said the Lord GOD.
Dan 7:18 But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom, and
possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever.
27 And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the
whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High,
whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and
obey him.
8:24 And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall
destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practice, and shall destroy the
mighty and the holy people.
11:33 And they that understand among the people shall instruct many: yet
they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, many
days.
34 Now when they shall fall, they shall be helped with a little help: but
many shall join to them with flatteries.
35 And some of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purge,
and to make them white, even to the time of the end: because it is yet for a
time appointed.
12:3 And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament;
and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.
10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall
do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall
understand.
