PRAYER
Mt 5:44 But I say to you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse
you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which spitefully use
you, and persecute you;
6:5 And when you pray, you shall not be as the hypocrites are: for they love
to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that
they may be seen of men. Truly I say to you, They have their reward.
6 But you, when you pray, enter into your closet, and when you have shut
your door, pray to your Father which is in secret; and your Father which
sees in secret shall reward you openly.
6:7 But when you pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they
think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
8 Be not you therefore like to them: for your Father knows what things you
have need of, before you ask him.
9 After this manner therefore pray you: Our Father which are in heaven,
Hallowed be your name.
10 Your kingdom come, Your will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For your is
the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it
shall be opened to you:
8 For every one that asks receives; and he that seeks finds; and to him that
knocks it shall be opened.
9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a
stone?
10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children,
how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them
that ask him?
9:37 Then said he to his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the
laborers are few;
38 Pray you therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth
laborers into his harvest.
14:23 And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain
apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.
18:19 Again I say to you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as
touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my
Father which is in heaven.
20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in
the middle of them.
21:22 And all things, whatever you shall ask in prayer, believing, you shall
receive.
26:39 And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying,
O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not
as I will, but as you will.
40 And he comes to the disciples, and finds them asleep, and said to Peter,
What, could you not watch with me one hour?
41 Watch and pray, that you enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is
willing, but the flesh is weak.
Mr 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he
went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
9:28 And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately,
Why could not we cast him out?
29 And he said to them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer
and fasting.
11:15 And they come to Jerusalem: and Jesus went into the temple, and began
to cast out them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the
tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves;
16 And would not suffer that any man should carry any vessel through the
temple.
17 And he taught, saying to them, Is it not written, My house shall be
called of all nations the house of prayer? but you have made it a den of
thieves.
11:24 Therefore I say to you, What things soever you desire, when you pray,
believe that you receive them, and you shall have them.
25 And when you stand praying, forgive, if you have ought against any: that
your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
12:38 And he said to them in his doctrine, Beware of the scribes, which love
to go in long clothing, and love salutations in the marketplaces,
39 And the chief seats in the synagogues, and the uppermost rooms at feasts:
40 Which devour widows’ houses, and for a pretense make long prayers: these
shall receive greater damnation.
Lu 2:36 And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel,
of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband
seven years from her virginity;
37 And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not
from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.
5:33 And they said to him, Why do the disciples of John fast often, and make
prayers, and likewise the disciples of the Pharisees; but your eat and drink?
6:12 And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to
pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.
13 And when it was day, he called to him his disciples: and of them he chose
twelve, whom also he named apostles;
11:5 And he said to them, Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go to
him at midnight, and say to him, Friend, lend me three loaves;
6 For a friend of my in his journey is come to me, and I have nothing to set
before him?
7 And he from within shall answer and say, Trouble me not: the door is now
shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give you.
8 I say to you, Though he will not rise and give him, because he is his
friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as
he needs.
9 And I say to you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find;
knock, and it shall be opened to you.
10 For every one that asks receives; and he that seeks finds; and to him
that knocks it shall be opened.
11 If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him
a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?
12 Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?
13 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children:
how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that
ask him?
18:1 And he spoke a parable to them to this end, that men ought always to
pray, and not to faint;
2 Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither
regarded man:
3 And there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying, Avenge me
of my adversary.
4 And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though
I fear not God, nor regard man;
5 Yet because this widow troubles me, I will avenge her, lest by her
continual coming she weary me.
6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge said.
7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night to him,
though he bear long with them?
8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of
man comes, shall he find faith on the earth?
21:34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be
overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so
that day come on you unawares.
35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the
whole earth.
36 Watch you therefore, and pray always, that you may be accounted worthy to
escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son
of man.
22:31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has desired to have you,
that he may sift you as wheat:
32 But I have prayed for you, that your faith fail not: and when you are
converted, strengthen your brothers.
Joh 14:13 And whatever you shall ask in my name, that will I do, that
the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 If you shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
15:7 If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, you shall ask what you
will, and it shall be done to you.
15:16 You have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that
you should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that
whatever you shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
16:23 And in that day you shall ask me nothing. Truly, truly, I say to you,
Whatever you shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.
24 Till now have you asked nothing in my name: ask, and you shall receive,
that your joy may be full.
25 These things have I spoken to you in proverbs: but the time comes, when I
shall no more speak to you in proverbs, but I shall show you plainly of the
Father.
26 At that day you shall ask in my name: and I say not to you, that I will
pray the Father for you:
Acts 2:41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and
the same day there were added to them about three thousand souls.
42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship,
and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
3:1 Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of
prayer, being the ninth hour.
6:1 And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied,
there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their
widows were neglected in the daily ministration.
2 Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples to them, and said,
It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.
3 Why, brothers, look you out among you seven men of honest report, full of
the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.
4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of
the word.
12:5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing
of the church to God for him.
16:13 And on the sabbath we went out of the city by a river side, where
prayer was wont to be made; and we sat down, and spoke to the women which
resorted thither.
14 And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of
Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that
she attended to the things which were spoken of Paul.
16:25 And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises to God: and
the prisoners heard them.
26 And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the
prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every
one’s bands were loosed.
Rom 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helps our infirmities: for we know
not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself makes
intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
27 And he that searches the hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit,
because he makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
10:1 Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they
might be saved.
10:12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same
Lord over all is rich to all that call on him.
12:12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in
prayer;
1 Cor 7:5 Defraud you not one the other, except it be with consent
for a time, that you may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come
together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.
14:13 Why let him that speaks in an unknown tongue pray that he may
interpret.
14 For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding
is unfruitful.
15 What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the
understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the
understanding also.
2 Cor 1:10 Who delivered us from so great a death, and does deliver:
in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us;
11 You also helping together by prayer for us, that for the gift bestowed on
us by the means of many persons thanks may be given by many on our behalf.
Eph 1:15 Why I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus,
and love to all the saints,
16 Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to
you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
3:20 Now to him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we
ask or think, according to the power that works in us,
21 To him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world
without end. Amen.
6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and
watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
19 And for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth
boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,
20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly,
as I ought to speak.
Php 1:3 I thank my God on every remembrance of you,
4 Always in every prayer of my for you all making request with joy,
1:9 And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in
knowledge and in all judgment;
10 That you may approve things that are excellent; that you may be sincere
and without offense till the day of Christ.
11 Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ,
to the glory and praise of God.
4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication
with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
7 And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your
hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Col 1:3 We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
praying always for you,
4 Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which you
have to all the saints,
1:9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray
for you, and to desire that you might be filled with the knowledge of his
will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
10 That you might walk worthy of the Lord to all pleasing, being fruitful in
every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
4:2 Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;
3 With praying also for us, that God would open to us a door of utterance,
to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds:
4 That I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.
4:12 Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, salutes you, always
laboring fervently for you in prayers, that you may stand perfect and
complete in all the will of God.
1 Th 3:10 Night and day praying exceedingly that we might see your
face, and might perfect that which is lacking in your faith?
5:17 Pray without ceasing.
25 Brothers, pray for us.
2 Th 1:11 Why also we pray always for you, that our God would count
you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of his
goodness, and the work of faith with power:
12 That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and you
in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
3:1 Finally, brothers, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free
course, and be glorified, even as it is with you:
2 And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men
have not faith.
1 Tim 2:1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications,
prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and
peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior;
4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come to the knowledge of the
truth.
2:8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands,
without wrath and doubting.
5:5 Now she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, trusts in God, and
continues in supplications and prayers night and day.
6 But she that lives in pleasure is dead while she lives.
2 Tim 1:3 I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure
conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of you in my prayers
night and day;
Heb 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we
may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
5:7 Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and
supplications with strong crying and tears to him that was able to save him
from death, and was heard in that he feared;
10:21 And having an high priest over the house of God;
22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our
hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure
water.
Jas 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that gives to
all men liberally, and upbraides not; and it shall be given him.
6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavers is like a
wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
4:1 From where come wars and fights among you? come they not hence, even of
your lusts that war in your members?
2 You lust, and have not: you kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain:
you fight and war, yet you have not, because you ask not.
3 You ask, and receive not, because you ask amiss, that you may consume it
on your lusts.
5:13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing
psalms.
5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that you
may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
17 Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed
earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the
space of three years and six months.
18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought
forth her fruit.
1 Pe 1:17 And if you call on the Father, who without respect of
persons judges according to every man’s work, pass the time of your
sojourning here in fear:
3:7 Likewise, you husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving
honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of
the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
3:12 For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open
to their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.
4:7 But the end of all things is at hand: be you therefore sober, and watch
to prayer.
1 Joh 3:21 Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we
confidence toward God.
22 And whatever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments,
and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
5:14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any
thing according to his will, he hears us:
15 And if we know that he hear us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the
petitions that we desired of him.
16 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not to death, he shall ask,
and he shall give him life for them that sin not to death. There is a sin to
death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.
Jude 1:20 But you, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy
faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
Rev 5:6 And I beheld, and, see, in the middle of the throne and of
the four beasts, and in the middle of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had
been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits
of God sent forth into all the earth.
7 And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat on the
throne.
8 And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders
fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials
full of odors, which are the prayers of saints.
8:1 And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven
about the space of half an hour.
2 And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given
seven trumpets.
3 And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and
there was given to him much incense, that he should offer it with the
prayers of all saints on the golden altar which was before the throne.
4 And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints,
ascended up before God out of the angel’s hand.
5 And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and
cast it into the earth: and there were voices, and thunder, and lightning,
and an earthquake.
Gen 4:26 And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called
his name Enos: then began men to call on the name of the LORD.
17:18 And Abraham said to God, O that Ishmael might live before you!
19 And God said, Sarah your wife shall bear you a son indeed; and you shall
call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an
everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him.
20 And as for Ishmael, I have heard you: Behold, I have blessed him, and
will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes
shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation.
21:33 And Abraham planted a grove in Beersheba, and called there on the name
of the LORD, the everlasting God.
32:24 And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the
breaking of the day.
25 And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow
of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was out of joint, as he
wrestled with him.
26 And he said, Let me go, for the day breaks. And he said, I will not let
you go, except you bless me.
27 And he said to him, What is your name? And he said, Jacob.
28 And he said, Your name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as
a prince have you power with God and with men, and have prevailed.
29 And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray you, your name. And he
said, Why is it that you do ask after my name? And he blessed him there.
Ex 2:23 And it came to pass in process of time, that the king of
Egypt died: and the children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage, and
they cried, and their cry came up to God by reason of the bondage.
24 And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with
Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.
25 And God looked on the children of Israel, and God had respect to them.
17:10 So Joshua did as Moses had said to him, and fought with Amalek: and
Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill.
11 And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed:
and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.
12 But Moses hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him,
and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the
one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until
the going down of the sun.
13 And Joshua discomfited Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.
32:7 And the LORD said to Moses, Go, get you down; for your people, which
you brought out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves:
8 They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: they
have made them a molten calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed
thereunto, and said, These be your gods, O Israel, which have brought you up
out of the land of Egypt.
9 And the LORD said to Moses, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a
stiff necked people:
10 Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them, and
that I may consume them: and I will make of you a great nation.
11 And Moses sought the LORD his God, and said, LORD, why does your wrath
wax hot against your people, which you have brought forth out of the land of
Egypt with great power, and with a mighty hand?
12 Why should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief did he bring them
out, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the
earth? Turn from your fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against your
people.
13 Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, your servants, to whom you swore by
your own self, and said to them, I will multiply your seed as the stars of
heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give to your seed,
and they shall inherit it for ever.
14 And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do to his people.
32:0 And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses said to the people, You
have sinned a great sin: and now I will go up to the LORD; peradventure I
shall make an atonement for your sin.
31 And Moses returned to the LORD, and said, Oh, this people have sinned a
great sin, and have made them gods of gold.
32 Yet now, if you will forgive their sin-; and if not, blot me, I pray you,
out of your book which you have written.
33 And the LORD said to Moses, Whoever has sinned against me, him will I
blot out of my book.
Nu 14:13 And Moses said to the LORD, Then the Egyptians shall hear it,
(for you brought up this people in your might from among them;)
19 Pardon, I beseech you, the iniquity of this people according to the
greatness of your mercy, and as you have forgiven this people, from Egypt
even until now.
20 And the LORD said, I have pardoned according to your word:
1 Sam 1:9 So Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after
they had drunk. Now Eli the priest sat on a seat by a post of the temple of
the LORD.
10 And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to the LORD, and wept sore.
11 And she vowed a vow, and said, O LORD of hosts, if you will indeed look
on the affliction of your handmaid, and remember me, and not forget your
handmaid, but will give to your handmaid a man child, then I will give him
to the LORD all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come on his
head.
12 And it came to pass, as she continued praying before the LORD, that Eli
marked her mouth.
13 Now Hannah, she spoke in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice
was not heard: therefore Eli thought she had been drunken.
14 And Eli said to her, How long will you be drunken? put away your wine
from you.
15 And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful
spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my
soul before the LORD.
16 Count not your handmaid for a daughter of Belial: for out of the
abundance of my complaint and grief have I spoken till now.
1:26 And she said, Oh my lord, as your soul lives, my lord, I am the woman
that stood by you here, praying to the LORD.
27 For this child I prayed; and the LORD has given me my petition which I
asked of him:
28 Therefore also I have lent him to the LORD; as long as he lives he shall
be lent to the LORD. And he worshipped the LORD there.
7:2 And it came to pass, while the ark stayed in Kirjathjearim, that the
time was long; for it was twenty years: and all the house of Israel lamented
after the LORD.
3 And Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, If you do return to
the LORD with all your hearts, then put away the strange gods and Ashtaroth
from among you, and prepare your hearts to the LORD, and serve him only: and
he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.
4 Then the children of Israel did put away Baalim and Ashtaroth, and served
the LORD only.
5 And Samuel said, Gather all Israel to Mizpeh, and I will pray for you to
the LORD.
9:15 Now the LORD had told Samuel in his ear a day before Saul came, saying,
16 To morrow about this time I will send you a man out of the land of
Benjamin, and you shall anoint him to be captain over my people Israel, that
he may save my people out of the hand of the Philistines: for I have looked
on my people, because their cry is come to me.
12:23 Moreover as for me, God forbid that I should sin against the LORD in
ceasing to pray for you: but I will teach you the good and the right way:
1 Ki 3:5 In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night:
and God said, Ask what I shall give you.
1 Ch 4:10 And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that you
would bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that your hand might be
with me, and that you would keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me!
And God granted him that which he requested.
2 Ch 7:13 If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command
the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people;
14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and
pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear
from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
30:27 Then the priests the Levites arose and blessed the people: and their
voice was heard, and their prayer came up to his holy dwelling place, even
to heaven.
32:20 And for this cause Hezekiah the king, and the prophet Isaiah the son
of Amoz, prayed and cried to heaven.
21 And the LORD sent an angel, which cut off all the mighty men of valor,
and the leaders and captains in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he
returned with shame of face to his own land. And when he was come into the
house of his god, they that came forth of his own bowels slew him there with
the sword.
22 Thus the LORD saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the
hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria, and from the hand of all other, and
guided them on every side.
Ezr 8:21 Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava, that
we might afflict ourselves before our God, to seek of him a right way for
us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance.
23 So we fasted and sought our God for this: and he was entreated of us.
Job 22:27 You shall make your prayer to him, and he shall hear you,
and you shall pay your vows.
35:12 There they cry, but none gives answer, because of the pride of evil
men.
13 Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it.
14 Although you say you shall not see him, yet judgment is before him;
therefore trust you in him.
42:10 And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his
friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.
Ps 4:3 But know that the LORD has set apart him that is godly for
himself: the LORD will hear when I call to him.
5:1 Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my meditation.
2 Listen to the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for to you will I pray.
3 My voice shall you hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I
direct my prayer to you, and will look up.
6:9 The LORD has heard my supplication; the LORD will receive my prayer.
18:6 In my distress I called on the LORD, and cried to my God: he heard my
voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.
20:1 The LORD hear you in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob
defend you;
4 Grant you according to your own heart, and fulfill all your counsel.
5 We will rejoice in your salvation, and in the name of our God we will set
up our banners: the LORD fulfill all your petitions.
6 Now know I that the LORD saves his anointed; he will hear him from his
holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand.
21:2 You have given him his heart’s desire, and have not withheld the
request of his lips. Selah.
27: Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also on me, and
answer me.
8 When you said, Seek you my face; my heart said to you, Your face, LORD,
will I seek.
28:6 Blessed be the LORD, because he has heard the voice of my supplications.
31:22 For I said in my haste, I am cut off from before your eyes:
nevertheless you heard the voice of my supplications when I cried to you.
34:15 The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and his ears are open to
their cry.
37:3 Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shall you dwell in the land, and
truly you shall be fed.
4 Delight yourself also in the LORD: and he shall give you the desires of
your heart.
39:12 Hear my prayer, O LORD, and give ear to my cry; hold not your peace at
my tears: for I am a stranger with you, and a sojourner, as all my fathers
were.
40:1 I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined to me, and heard my
cry.
50:15 And call on me in the day of trouble: I will deliver you, and you
shall glorify me.
55:16 As for me, I will call on God; and the LORD shall save me.
17 Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he
shall hear my voice.
61:1 Hear my cry, O God; attend to my prayer.
2 From the end of the earth will I cry to you, when my heart is overwhelmed:
lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
62:8 Trust in him at all times; you people, pour out your heart before him:
God is a refuge for us. Selah.
65:2 O you that hear prayer, to you shall all flesh come.
66:17 I cried to him with my mouth, and he was extolled with my tongue.
18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:
19 But truly God has heard me; he has attended to the voice of my prayer.
20 Blessed be God, which has not turned away my prayer, nor his mercy from
me.
86:5 For you, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy
to all them that call on you.
6 Give ear, O LORD, to my prayer; and attend to the voice of my
supplications.
7 In the day of my trouble I will call on you: for you will answer me.
91:15 He shall call on me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in
trouble; I will deliver him, and honor him.
103:5 Who satisfies your mouth with good things; so that your youth is
renewed like the eagle’s.
116:1 I love the LORD, because he has heard my voice and my supplications.
2 Because he has inclined his ear to me, therefore will I call on him as
long as I live.
118:21 I will praise you: for you have heard me, and are become my salvation.
119:145 I cried with my whole heart; hear me, O LORD: I will keep your
statutes.
146 I cried to you; save me, and I shall keep your testimonies.
147 I prevented the dawning of the morning, and cried: I hoped in your word.
170 Let my supplication come before you: deliver me according to your word.
130:1 Out of the depths have I cried to you, O LORD.
2 Lord, hear my voice: let your ears be attentive to the voice of my
supplications.
141:5 Let the righteous smite me; it shall be a kindness: and let him
reprove me; it shall be an excellent oil, which shall not break my head: for
yet my prayer also shall be in their calamities.
143:1 Hear my prayer, O LORD, give ear to my supplications: in your
faithfulness answer me, and in your righteousness.
145:18 The LORD is near to all them that call on him, to all that call on
him in truth.
19 He will fulfill the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their
cry, and will save them.
Pr 10:24 The fear of the wicked, it shall come on him: but the desire
of the righteous shall be granted.
15:8 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but the
prayer of the upright is his delight.
15:29 The LORD is far from the wicked: but he hears the prayer of the
righteous.
21:13 Whoever stops his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry
himself, but shall not be heard.
28:9 He that turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall
be abomination.
Isa 1:15 And when you spread forth your hands, I will hide my eyes
from you: yes, when you make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are
full of blood.
30:19 For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem: you shall weep no
more: he will be very gracious to you at the voice of your cry; when he
shall hear it, he will answer you.
56:6 Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the LORD, to
serve him, and to love the name of the LORD, to be his servants, every one
that keeps the sabbath from polluting it, and takes hold of my covenant;
7 Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my
house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be
accepted on my altar; for my house shall be called an house of prayer for
all people.
58:6 Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of
wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and
that you break every yoke?
9 Then shall you call, and the LORD shall answer; you shall cry, and he
shall say, Here I am. If you take away from the middle of you the yoke, the
putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity;
59:1 Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither
his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:
2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins
have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
3 For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity;
your lips have spoken lies, your tongue has muttered perverseness.
64:1 Oh that you would rend the heavens, that you would come down, that the
mountains might flow down at your presence,
2 As when the melting fire burns, the fire causes the waters to boil, to
make your name known to your adversaries, that the nations may tremble at
your presence!
3 When you did terrible things which we looked not for, you came down, the
mountains flowed down at your presence.
4 For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by
the ear, neither has the eye seen, O God, beside you, what he has prepared
for him that waits for him.
65:24 And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and
while they are yet speaking, I will hear.
Jer 5:25 Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins
have withheld good things from you.
7:16 Therefore pray not you for this people, neither lift up cry nor prayer
for them, neither make intercession to me: for I will not hear you.
15:1 Then said the LORD to me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet
my mind could not be toward this people: cast them out of my sight, and let
them go forth.
2 And it shall come to pass, if they say to you, Where shall we go forth?
then you shall tell them, Thus said the LORD; Such as are for death, to
death; and such as are for the sword, to the sword; and such as are for the
famine, to the famine; and such as are for the captivity, to the captivity.
29:7 And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried
away captives, and pray to the LORD for it: for in the peace thereof shall
you have peace.
29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, said the LORD,
thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
12 Then shall you call on me, and you shall go and pray to me, and I will
listen to you.
13 And you shall seek me, and find me, when you shall search for me with all
your heart.
31:9 They shall come with weeping, and with supplications will I lead them:
I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, wherein
they shall not stumble: for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my
firstborn.
33:3 Call to me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things,
which you know not.
Lam 3:41 Let us lift up our heart with our hands to God in the
heavens.
3:44 You have covered yourself with a cloud, that our prayer should not pass
through.
Eze 22:30 And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the
hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not
destroy it: but I found none.
31 Therefore have I poured out my indignation on them; I have consumed them
with the fire of my wrath: their own way have I recompensed on their heads,
said the Lord GOD.
Dan 6:0 Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went
into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem,
he kneeled on his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks
before his God, as he did aforetime.
11 Then these men assembled, and found Daniel praying and making
supplication before his God.
9:3 And I set my face to the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications,
with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:
4 And I prayed to the LORD my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord,
the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love
him, and to them that keep his commandments;
17 Now therefore, O our God, hear the prayer of your servant, and his
supplications, and cause your face to shine on your sanctuary that is
desolate, for the Lord’s sake.
18 O my God, incline your ear, and hear; open your eyes, and behold our
desolations, and the city which is called by your name: for we do not
present our supplications before you for our righteousnesses, but for your
great mercies.
21 Yes, whiles I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom I had
seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me
about the time of the evening oblation.
22 And he informed me, and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come
forth to give you skill and understanding.
23 At the beginning of your supplications the commandment came forth, and I
am come to show you; for you are greatly beloved: therefore understand the
matter, and consider the vision.
Joel 2:12 Therefore also now, said the LORD, turn you even to me with
all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning:
13 And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn to the LORD your God:
for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and
repents him of the evil.
14 Who knows if he will return and repent, and leave a blessing behind him;
even a meat offering and a drink offering to the LORD your God?
15 Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly:
16 Gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather
the children, and those that suck the breasts: let the bridegroom go forth
of his chamber, and the bride out of her closet.
17 Let the priests, the ministers of the LORD, weep between the porch and
the altar, and let them say, Spare your people, O LORD, and give not your
heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them: why should
they say among the people, Where is their God?
Zec 10:1 Ask you of the LORD rain in the time of the latter rain; so
the LORD shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain, to every
one grass in the field.
12:10 And I will pour on the house of David, and on the inhabitants of
Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look on
me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourns for
his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in
bitterness for his firstborn.
14:16 And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the
nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to
worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.
