LAW SHOWS OUR SIN
Rom 3:19 Now we know that what things soever the law said, it said to them
who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world
may become guilty before God.
20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in
his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
4:15 Because the law works wrath: for where no law is, there is no
transgression.
5:20 Moreover the law entered, that the offense might abound. But where sin
abounded, grace did much more abound:
7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. No, I had not known
sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, You
shall not covet.
8 But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, worked in me all manner of
concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.
9 For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin
revived, and I died.
10 And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be to death.
11 For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew
me.
12 Why the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.
13 Was then that which is good made death to me? God forbid. But sin, that
it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by
the commandment might become exceeding sinful.
Gal 3:10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for
it is written, Cursed is every one that continues not in all things which
are written in the book of the law to do them.
11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is
evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
12 And the law is not of faith: but, The man that does them shall live in
them.
13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for
us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangs on a tree:
3:19 Why then serves the law? It was added because of transgressions, till
the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by
angels in the hand of a mediator.
20 Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.
21 Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had
been a law given which could have given life, truly righteousness should
have been by the law.
22 But the scripture has concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith
of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up to the faith
which should afterwards be revealed.
24 Why the law was our schoolmaster to bring us to Christ, that we might be
justified by faith.
25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
26 For you are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
1 Tim 1:8 But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;
9 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the
lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and
profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for murderers,
10 For fornicators, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for
enslavers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing
that is contrary to sound doctrine;
11 According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed
to my trust.
Jas 2:10 For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point,
he is guilty of all.
11 For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if
you commit no adultery, yet if you kill, you are become a transgressor of
the law.
12 So speak you, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of
liberty.
1 Joh 3:4 Whoever commits sin transgresses also the law: for sin is the
transgression of the law.
