THE FEELING OF GUILT
1 Joh 3:19 And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our
hearts before him.
20 For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all
things.
21 Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.
Gen 3:7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were
naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool
of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the
LORD God among the trees of the garden.
9 And the LORD God called to Adam, and said to him, Where are you?
10 And he said, I heard your voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because
I was naked; and I hid myself.
11 And he said, Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree,
whereof I commanded you that you should not eat?
12 And the man said, The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me of
the tree, and I did eat.
4:13 And Cain said to the LORD, My punishment is greater than I can bear.
Ps 32:2 Blessed is the man to whom the LORD imputes not iniquity, and in
whose spirit there is no guile.
3 When I kept silence, my bones waxed old through my roaring all the day
long.
4 For day and night your hand was heavy on me: my moisture is turned into
the drought of summer. Selah.
5 I acknowledge my sin to you, and my iniquity have I not hid. I said, I
will confess my transgressions to the LORD; and you forgave the iniquity of
my sin. Selah.
38:3 There is no soundness in my flesh because of your anger; neither is
there any rest in my bones because of my sin.
4 For my iniquities are gone over my head: as an heavy burden they are too
heavy for me.
38:17 For I am ready to halt, and my sorrow is continually before me.
18 For I will declare my iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin.
40:11 Withhold not you your tender mercies from me, O LORD: let your loving
kindness and your truth continually preserve me.
12 For innumerable evils have compassed me about: my iniquities have taken
hold on me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs
of my head: therefore my heart fails me.
13 Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me: O LORD, make haste to help me.
51:1 Have mercy on me, O God, according to your loving kindness: according
to the multitude of your tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
4 Against you, you only, have I sinned, and done this evil in your sight:
that you might be justified when you speak, and be clear when you judge.
5 Behold, I was shaped in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
6 Behold, you desire truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part you
shall make me to know wisdom.
7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter
than snow.
