cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all

Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas

when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on

sailed to Cyprus. 14:4 But the multitude of the city was
divided: and part held with the Jews, and part with the

people, crying out,

received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith

9:1 Am I not an apostle? am I not free? have I
not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? are not you my work in the
Lord? 2 If I be not an apostle to others, yet doubtless I
am to you: for the seal of my apostleship are you in the
Lord. 3 My answer to them that do examine me is this,
4 Have we not power to eat and to drink? 5 Have we not
power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other
apostles, and as the brothers of the Lord, and Cephas? 6
Or I only and Barnabas, have not we power to forbear
working?
12:28 And God has set some in the church,
first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers,
after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps,
governments, diversities of tongues. 29 Are all apostles?
are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of
miracles? 30 Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak
with tongues? do all interpret?
15:7 After that, he
was seen of James; then of all the apostles. 8 And last
of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due
time. 9 For I am the least of the apostles, that am not
meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the
church of God. 10 But by the grace of God I am what I am:
and his grace which was bestowed on me was not in vain; but
I labored more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the
grace of God which was with me. 11 Therefore whether it
were I or they, so we preach, and so you believed.
2 Cor 11:4 For if he that comes preaches another
Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if you receive another
spirit, which you have not received, or another gospel,
which you have not accepted, you might well bear with him.
5 For I suppose I was not a whit behind the very most chief
apostles. 6 But though I be rude in speech, yet not in
knowledge; but we have been thoroughly made manifest among
you in all things.
11:13 For such are false apostles,
deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles
of Christ. 14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is
transformed into an angel of light. 15 Therefore it is no
great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the
ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to
their works.
12:11 I am become a fool in glorying;
you have compelled me: for I ought to have been commended of

out early in the morning to hire laborers into his vineyard.
2 And when he had agreed with the laborers for a penny a
day, he sent them into his vineyard. 3 And he went out
about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the
marketplace, 4 And said to them; Go you also into the
vineyard, and whatever is right I will give you. And they
went their way. 5 Again he went out about the sixth and
ninth hour, and did likewise. 6 And about the eleventh
hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and said
to them, Why stand you here all the day idle? 7 They say
to him, Because no man has hired us. He said to them, Go you
also into the vineyard; and whatever is right, that shall
you receive. 8 So when even was come, the lord of the
vineyard said to his steward, Call the laborers, and give
them their hire, beginning from the last to the first. 9
And when they came that were hired about the eleventh hour,
they received every man a penny. 10 But when the first
came, they supposed that they should have received more; and
they likewise received every man a penny. 11 And when
they had received it, they murmured against the manager of
the house, 12 Saying, These last have worked but one
hour, and you have made them equal to us, which have borne
the burden and heat of the day. 13 But he answered one of
them, and said, Friend, I do you no wrong: did not you agree
with me for a penny? 14 Take that your is, and go your
way: I will give to this last, even as to you. 15 Is it
not lawful for me to do what I will with my own? Is your eye
evil, because I am good? 16 So the last shall be first,
and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen.
24:45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his
lord has made ruler over his household, to give them meat in
due season? 46 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord
when he comes shall find so doing. 47 Truly I say to you,
That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.
25:14 For the kingdom of heaven is as a man traveling into a
far country, who called his own servants, and delivered to

man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where

not, and gather where I have not strewed: 27 You ought
therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then
at my coming I should have received my own with usury. 28

given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that has

4:1 Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of

it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

them, and rose again. 20 Now then we are ambassadors for
Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in

then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that
you receive not the grace of God in vain. 2 (For he said,

Providing for honest things, not only in the sight of the

5:1 The elders which are among
you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the
sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that
shall be revealed: 2 Feed the flock of God which is among
you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but
willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; 3
Neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being
ensamples to the flock. 4 And when the chief Shepherd
shall appear, you shall receive a crown of glory that fades
not away.

he said, What is this thing that you do to the people? why
sit you yourself alone, and all the people stand by you from

Because the people come to me to inquire of God: 16 When
they have a matter, they come to me; and I judge between one
and another, and I do make them know the statutes of God,
and his laws. 17 And Moses’ father in law said to him,
The thing that you do is not good. 18 You will surely
wear away, both you, and this people that is with you: for
this thing is too heavy for you; you are not able to perform
it yourself alone. 19 Listen now to my voice, I will give
you counsel, and God shall be with you: Be you for the
people to God-ward, that you may bring the causes to God:
20 And you shall teach them ordinances and laws, and shall
show them the way wherein they must walk, and the work that
they must do. 21 Moreover you shall provide out of all
the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating
covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of
thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and
rulers of tens: 22 And let them judge the people at all
seasons: and it shall be, that every great matter they shall
bring to you, but every small matter they shall judge: so
shall it be easier for yourself, and they shall bear the
burden with you. 23 If you shall do this thing, and God
command you so, then you shall be able to endure, and all
this people shall also go to their place in peace. 24 So
Moses listened to the voice of his father in law, and did
all that he had said. 25 And Moses chose able men out of
all Israel, and made them heads over the people, rulers of
thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers
of tens. 26 And they judged the people at all seasons:
the hard causes they brought to Moses, but every small
matter they judged themselves.
35:30 And Moses said
to the children of Israel, See, the LORD has called by name
Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of
Judah; 31 And he has filled him with the spirit of God,
in wisdom, in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all
manner of workmanship; 32 And to devise curious works, to
work in gold, and in silver, and in brass, 33 And in the
cutting of stones, to set them, and in carving of wood, to
make any manner of cunning work. 34 And he has put in his

Lord, if the LORD be with us, why then is all this befallen
us? and where be all his miracles which our fathers told us
of, saying, Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt? but now
the LORD has forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of
the Midianites. 14 And the LORD looked on him, and said,
Go in this your might, and you shall save Israel from the
hand of the Midianites: have not I sent you? 15 And he
said to him, Oh my Lord, with which shall I save Israel?
behold, my family is poor in Manasseh, and I am the least in
my father’s house. 16 And the LORD said to him, Surely I
will be with you, and you shall smite the Midianites as one
man.

Mt 4:23 And Jesus went about all
Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the
gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness
and all manner of disease among the people.
24:14 And
this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the
world for a witness to all nations; and then shall the end
come.
28:19 Go you therefore, and teach all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son,

vessel to me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and
kings, and the children of Israel: 16 For I will show him
how great things he must suffer for my name’s sake. 20
And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that

Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures,

the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spoke and
taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the
baptism of John.
19:8 And he went into the synagogue,
and spoke boldly for the space of three months, disputing
and persuading the things concerning the kingdom of God.
9 But when divers were hardened, and believed not, but spoke
evil of that way before the multitude, he departed from
them, and separated the disciples, disputing daily in the
school of one Tyrannus. 10 And this continued by the
space of two years; so that all they which dwelled in Asia
heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.
20:20 And how I kept back nothing that was profitable to
you, but have showed you, and have taught you publicly, and
from house to house, 21 Testifying both to the Jews, and
also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward
our Lord Jesus Christ.
20:24 But none of these things
move me, neither count I my life dear to myself, so that I
might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I
have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of
the grace of God. 25 And now, behold, I know that you
all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God,
shall see my face no more. 26 Why I take you to record
this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men. 27
For I have not shunned to declare to you all the counsel of
God. 28 Take heed therefore to yourselves, and to all the

To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light,

preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also. 16 For I
am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power
of God to salvation to every one that believes; to the Jew
first, and also to the Greek.
10:14 How then shall
they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how
shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and
how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall
they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How
beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of
peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! 16 But they
have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias said, Lord, who
has believed our report? 17 So then faith comes by
hearing, and hearing by the word of God. 18 But I say,
Have they not heard? Yes truly, their sound went into all
the earth, and their words to the ends of the world.
15:17 I have therefore whereof I may glory through Jesus
Christ in those things which pertain to God. 18 For I
will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ
has not worked by me, to make the Gentiles obedient, by word
and deed, 19 Through mighty signs and wonders, by the
power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and
round about to Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel
of Christ. 20 Yes, so have I strived to preach the
gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build on
another man’s foundation: 21 But as it is written, To

Cor 1:17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to
preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross
of Christ should be made of none effect. 18 For the
preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness;
but to us which are saved it is the power of God. 21 For
after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not
God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save
them that believe. 22 For the Jews require a sign, and
the Greeks seek after wisdom: 23 But we preach Christ
crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block, and to the Greeks

was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in

3:5 Who then is Paul, and who is
Apollos, but ministers by whom you believed, even as the
Lord gave to every man? 6 I have planted, Apollos
watered; but God gave the increase. 7 So then neither is
he that plants any thing, neither he that waters; but God
that gives the increase. 8 Now he that plants and he that
waters are one: and every man shall receive his own reward
according to his own labor. 9 For we are laborers
together with God: you are God’s husbandry, you are God’s
building. 10 According to the grace of God which is given
to me, as a wise master builder, I have laid the foundation,
and another builds thereon. But let every man take heed how
he builds thereupon. 11 For other foundation can no man
lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
9:14
Even so has the Lord ordained that they which preach the
gospel should live of the gospel. 15 But I have used none
of these things: neither have I written these things, that
it should be so done to me: for it were better for me to
die, than that any man should make my glorying void. 16
For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of:
for necessity is laid on me; yes, woe is to me, if I preach
not the gospel! 17 For if I do this thing willingly, I
have a reward: but if against my will, a dispensation of the
gospel is committed to me. 18 What is my reward then?
Truly that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel
of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the
gospel.
15:10 But by the grace of God I am what I am:
and his grace which was bestowed on me was not in vain; but
I labored more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the
grace of God which was with me. 11 Therefore whether it
were I or they, so we preach, and so you believed.
15:34 Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not
the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.
2 Cor 1:18 But as God is true, our word toward you was

we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint
not; 2 But have renounced the hidden things of

of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth
commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight
of God. 3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them
that are lost: 4 In whom the god of this world has
blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light
of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God,
should shine to them. 5 For we preach not ourselves, but
Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for
Jesus’ sake.
10:13 But we will not boast of things
without our measure, but according to the measure of the
rule which God has distributed to us, a measure to reach
even to you. 14 For we stretch not ourselves beyond our
measure, as though we reached not to you: for we are come as
far as to you also in preaching the gospel of Christ: 15
Not boasting of things without our measure, that is, of
other men’s labors; but having hope, when your faith is
increased, that we shall be enlarged by you according to our
rule abundantly, 16 To preach the gospel in the regions
beyond you, and not to boast in another man’s line of things
made ready to our hand.
Gal 1:15 But when it
pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb, and
called me by his grace, 16 To reveal his Son in me, that

to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given to me,
they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship;
that we should go to the heathen, and they to the
circumcision.
Eph 3:6 That the Gentiles should
be fellow heirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his
promise in Christ by the gospel: 7 Whereof I was made a
minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given to
me by the effectual working of his power. 8 To me, who am
less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that
I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches
of Christ; 9 And to make all men see what is the
fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the
world has been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus
Christ: 10 To the intent that now to the principalities
and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church
the manifold wisdom of God,
6:14 Stand therefore,
having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the
breastplate of righteousness; 15 And your feet shod with

the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which
is the word of God: 18 Praying always with all prayer and
supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all
perseverance and supplication for all saints; 19 And for
me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my
mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20
For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may
speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
Php 1:14
And many of the brothers in the Lord, waxing confident by my
bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.
15 Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and

contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my
bonds: 17 But the other of love, knowing that I am set

give yourself wholly to them; that your profiting may appear
to all. 16 Take heed to yourself, and to the doctrine;
continue in them: for in doing this you shall both save
yourself, and them that hear you.

2:15 Study to show yourself approved to
God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly
dividing the word of truth.
2:24 And the servant of

teach, patient, 25 In meekness instructing those that
oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them
repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; 26 And that

charge you therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ,

of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long-suffering
and doctrine. 3 For the time will come when they will not
endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they
heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And
they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be
turned to fables. 5 But watch you in all things, endure
afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof
of your ministry.
4:17 Notwithstanding the Lord stood
with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might
be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I
was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.
Tit
1:7 For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of
God; not self-willed, not soon angry, not given to wine, no
striker, not given to filthy lucre; 8 But a lover of
hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy,
temperate; 9 Holding fast the faithful word as he has
been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to
exhort and to convince the disputers.

to understand the law: and the people stood in their place.
8 So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and
gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.
Ps 9:1 I will praise you, O LORD, with my whole
heart; I will show forth all your marvelous works. 11
Sing praises to the LORD, which dwells in Zion: declare

40:5 Many, O LORD my
God, are your wonderful works which you have done, and your

baptized.
13:2 As they ministered to the Lord, and
fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul
for the work whereunto I have called them. 3 And when
they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them,
they sent them away.
19:5 When they heard this, they

16:19 The churches of Asia salute you. Aquila and
Priscilla salute you much in the Lord, with the church that

Php 4:2 I beseech Euodias,
and beseech Syntyche, that they be of the same mind in the
Lord. 3 And I entreat you also, true yoke fellow, help
those women which labored with me in the gospel, with
Clement also, and with other my fellow laborers, whose names

the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honor,
especially they who labor in the word and doctrine. 18
For the scripture said, You shall not muzzle the ox that
treads out the corn. And, The laborer is worthy of his
reward. 19 Against an elder receive not an accusation,
but before two or three witnesses.

Ps 119:99 I have more
understanding than all my teachers: for your testimonies are

Isa 56:10 His watchmen are
blind: they are all ignorant, they are all dumb dogs, they
cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber. 11
Yes, they are greedy dogs which can never have enough, and
they are shepherds that cannot understand: they all look to
their own way, every one for his gain, from his quarter.
Jer 3:15 And I will give you pastors according to
my heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and

to you yet the instruments of a foolish shepherd. 16 For,
see, I will raise up a shepherd in the land, which shall not
visit those that be cut off, neither shall seek the young

claws in pieces. 17 Woe to the idol shepherd that leaves
the flock! the sword shall be on his arm, and on his right

Mal 2:6 The law of
truth was in his mouth, and iniquity was not found in his
lips: he walked with me in peace and equity, and did turn

Priesthood
Heb 7:5 And truly they that are of
the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood,
have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to
the law, that is, of their brothers, though they come out of
the loins of Abraham: 11 If therefore perfection were by
the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received
the law,) what further need was there that another priest
should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be
called after the order of Aaron? 12 For the priesthood
being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of
the law.
7:24 But this man, because he continues
ever, has an unchangeable priesthood. 25 Why he is able
also to save them to the uttermost that come to God by him,
seeing he ever lives to make intercession for them.

Prophets, seers, prophesy
Mt 5:12 Rejoice,
and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven:
for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the
prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.
7:12 Therefore all things whatever you would that men should
do to you, do you even so to them: for this is the law and
the prophets.
7:15 Beware of false prophets, which
come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are
ravening wolves. 16 You shall know them by their fruits.

13:16 But blessed are your eyes, for they

you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to
see those things which you see, and have not seen them; and
to hear those things which you hear, and have not heard

the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people
came to him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority
do you these things? and who gave you this authority? 24
And Jesus answered and said to them, I also will ask you one
thing, which if you tell me, I in like wise will tell you by
what authority I do these things. 25 The baptism of John,
from where was it? from heaven, or of men? And they reasoned
with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he
will say to us, Why did you not then believe him? 26 But
if we shall say, Of men; we fear the people; for all hold
John as a prophet. 27 And they answered Jesus, and said,
We cannot tell. And he said to them, Neither tell I you by
what authority I do these things.
21:45 And when the
chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they
perceived that he spoke of them. 46 But when they sought
to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude, because they
took him for a prophet.
23:29 Woe to you, scribes and
Pharisees, hypocrites! because you build the tombs of the
prophets, and garnish the sepulchers of the righteous, 30
And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would
not have been partakers with them in the blood of the
prophets. 31 Why you be witnesses to yourselves, that you
are the children of them which killed the prophets.
23:34 Why, behold, I send to you prophets, and wise men, and
scribes: and some of them you shall kill and crucify; and
some of them shall you whip in your synagogues, and
persecute them from city to city: 35 That on you may come
all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of
righteous Abel to the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias,
whom you slew between the temple and the altar. 36 Truly
I say to you, All these things shall come on this
generation. 37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you that kill the
prophets, and stone them which are sent to you, how often
would I have gathered your children together, even as a hen
gathers her chickens under her wings, and you would not!
38 Behold, your house is left to you desolate.
24:11
And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets,
and shall show great signs and wonders; so that, if it were
possible, they shall deceive the very elect. 25 Behold, I
have told you before.

city was built, that they might cast him down headlong.
30 But he passing through the middle of them went his way,
6:26 Woe to you, when all men shall speak well of you!
for so did their fathers to the false prophets.

And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he
delivered him to his mother. 16 And there came a fear on
all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is
risen up among us; and, That God has visited his people.
7:39 Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it,

prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this

16:29 Abraham said to him, They have Moses

father Abraham: but if one went to them from the dead, they

Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded,

baptize you then, if you be not that Christ, nor Elias,

1:47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and
said of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no
guile! 48 Nathanael said to him, From where know you me?
Jesus answered and said to him, Before that Philip called
you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you. 49
Nathanael answered and said to him, Rabbi, you are the Son
of God; you are the King of Israel. 50 Jesus answered and
said to him, Because I said to you, I saw you under the fig
tree, believe you? you shall see greater things than these.
4:16 Jesus said to her, Go, call your husband, and come
here. 17 The woman answered and said, I have no husband.
Jesus said to her, You have well said, I have no husband:
18 For you have had five husbands; and he whom you now have
is not your husband: in that said you truly. 19 The woman
said to him, Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet. 28
The woman then left her water pot, and went her way into the
city, and said to the men, 29 Come, see a man, which told
me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?
4:43 Now after two days he departed there, and went into
Galilee. 44 For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet
has no honor in his own country.
6:14 Then those men,
when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is
of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.

7:51 You stiff
necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, you do always
resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do you. 52
Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and
they have slain them which showed before of the coming of
the Just One; of whom you have been now the betrayers and
murderers:

judges about the space of four hundred and fifty years,
until Samuel the prophet.
15:32 And Judas and Silas,
being prophets also themselves, exhorted the brothers with
many words, and confirmed them.
21:8 And the next day
we that were of Paul’s company departed, and came to
Caesarea: and we entered into the house of Philip the
evangelist, which was one of the seven; and stayed with him.
9 And the same man had four daughters, virgins, which did
prophesy. 10 And as we tarried there many days, there
came down from Judaea a certain prophet, named Agabus. 11
And when he was come to us, he took Paul’s girdle, and bound

So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that ownes this
girdle, and shall deliver him into the hands of the

Rom 12:6 Having then gifts differing
according to the grace that is given to us, whether
prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of
faith;
1 Cor 12:10 To another the working of
miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of
spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the
interpretation of tongues:
12:28 And God has set some
in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly
teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings,
helps, governments, diversities of tongues. 29 Are all
apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all
workers of miracles? 30 Have all the gifts of healing? do
all speak with tongues? do all interpret? 31 But covet
earnestly the best gifts: and yet show I to you a more
excellent way.
13:2 And though I have the gift of
prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge;
and though I have all faith, so that I could remove
mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. 8 Charity
never fails: but whether there be prophecies, they shall
fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether
there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. 9 For we know
in part, and we prophesy in part.
14:1 Follow after
charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that you may
prophesy. 2 For he that speaks in an unknown tongue
speaks not to men, but to God: for no man understands him;
however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries. 3 But he that
prophesies speaks to men to edification, and exhortation,
and comfort. 4 He that speaks in an unknown tongue
edifies himself; but he that prophesies edifies the church.
5 I would that you all spoke with tongues but rather that
you prophesied: for greater is he that prophesies than he
that speaks with tongues, except he interpret, that the
church may receive edifying. 6 Now, brothers, if I come
to you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you,
except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by
knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine?
14:21
In the law it is written, With men of other tongues and
other lips will I speak to this people; and yet for all that
will they not hear me, said the LORD. 22 Why tongues are
for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that
believe not: but prophesying serves not for them that
believe not, but for them which believe. 23 If therefore
the whole church be come together into one place, and all
speak with tongues, and there come in those that are
unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that you are
mad? 24 But if all prophesy, and there come in one that
believes not, or one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he
is judged of all: 25 And thus are the secrets of his
heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face he will
worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth.
14:29 Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the
other judge. 30 If any thing be revealed to another that
sits by, let the first hold his peace. 31 For you may all
prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be
comforted. 32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject
to the prophets. 33 For God is not the author of
confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
14:37 If any man think himself to be a prophet, or
spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write
to you are the commandments of the Lord. 38 But if any
man be ignorant, let him be ignorant. 39 Why, brothers,
covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.
Eph 2:19 Now therefore you are no more strangers
and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of
the household of God; 20 And are built on the foundation
of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the
chief corner stone; 21 In whom all the building fitly

not the Spirit. 20 Despise not prophesyings. 21 Prove

4:14 Neglect not the gift that is in you, which was given
you by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the
presbytery.
Tit 1:12 One of themselves, even a
prophet of their own, said, The Cretians are always liars,
evil beasts, slow bellies. 13 This witness is true. Why
rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;
Heb 11:32 And what shall I more say? for the time

1 Joh 4:1 Beloved, believe not
every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God:
because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
Rev 2:20 Notwithstanding I have a few things
against you, because you suffer that woman Jezebel, which
calls herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my
servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed
to idols. 21 And I gave her space to repent of her
fornication; and she repented not.
11:3 And I will
give power to my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a
thousand two hundred and three score days, clothed in
sackcloth. 4 These are the two olive trees, and the two
candlesticks standing before the God of the earth. 5 And
if any man will hurt them, fire proceeds out of their mouth,

city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where
also our Lord was crucified. 9 And they of the people and
kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies
three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead
bodies to be put in graves. 10 And they that dwell on the
earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall
send gifts one to another; because these two prophets
tormented them that dwelled on the earth.
16:6 For
they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and you
have given them blood to drink; for they are worthy.
16:13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of
the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast,
and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 14 For they
are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth
to the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather
them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.
19:10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said
to me, See you do it not: I am your fellow servant, and of
your brothers that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God:
for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
19:20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false
prophet that worked miracles before him, with which he
deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and
them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive
into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
22:6 And
he said to me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the
Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to show to his
servants the things which must shortly be done.
Gen 20:7 Now therefore restore the man his wife; for he
is a prophet, and he shall pray for you, and you shall live:
and if you restore her not, know you that you shall surely
die, you, and all that are yours.
Ex 7:1 And
the LORD said to Moses, See, I have made you a god to
Pharaoh: and Aaron your brother shall be your prophet. 2
You shall speak all that I command you: and Aaron your

Israel out of his land. 3 And I will harden Pharaoh’s
heart, and multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of

15:20 And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of
Aaron, took a tambourine in her hand; and all the women went
out after her with tambourines and with dances.
Num 11:29 And Moses said to him, Envy you for my sake?
would God that all the LORD’s people were prophets, and that
the LORD would put his spirit on them!
12:5 And the
LORD came down in the pillar of the cloud, and stood in the
door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam: and
they both came forth. 6 And he said, Hear now my words:
If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself
known to him in a vision, and will speak to him in a dream.
7 My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all my
house. 8 With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even
apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of
the LORD shall he behold: why then were you not afraid to
speak against my servant Moses?
De 18:20 But
the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name,
which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak
in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die.
21 And if you say in your heart, How shall we know the word
which the LORD has not spoken? 22 When a prophet speaks
in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come
to pass, that is the thing which the LORD has not spoken,

And Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, she judged
Israel at that time. 5 And she dwelled under the palm
tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in mount Ephraim:
and the children of Israel came up to her for judgment.
1 Sam 3:1 And the child Samuel ministered to the
LORD before Eli. And the word of the LORD was precious in
those days; there was no open vision. 20 And all Israel
from Dan even to Beersheba knew that Samuel was established
to be a prophet of the LORD. 21 And the LORD appeared
again in Shiloh: for the LORD revealed himself to Samuel in
Shiloh by the word of the LORD.
9:6 And he said to
him, Behold now, there is in this city a man of God, and he
is an honorable man; all that he said comes surely to pass:
now let us go thither; peradventure he can show us our way
that we should go. 7 Then said Saul to his servant, But,
behold, if we go, what shall we bring the man? for the bread
is spent in our vessels, and there is not a present to bring
to the man of God: what have we? 8 And the servant
answered Saul again, and said, Behold, I have here at hand
the fourth part of a shekel of silver: that will I give to
the man of God, to tell us our way. 9 (Beforetime in
Israel, when a man went to inquire of God, thus he spoke,
Come, and let us go to the seer: for he that is now called a
Prophet was beforetime called a Seer.)
9:15 Now the
LORD had told Samuel in his ear a day before Saul came,
saying, 16 To morrow about this time I will send you a
man out of the land of Benjamin, and you shall anoint him to
be captain over my people Israel, that he may save my people
out of the hand of the Philistines: for I have looked on my
people, because their cry is come to me. 17 And when
Samuel saw Saul, the LORD said to him, Behold the man whom I
spoke to you of! this same shall reign over my people. 18
Then Saul drew near to Samuel in the gate, and said, Tell
me, I pray you, where the seer’s house is. 19 And Samuel
answered Saul, and said, I am the seer: go up before me to
the high place; for you shall eat with me to day, and to
morrow I will let you go, and will tell you all that is in
your heart. 20 And as for your asses that were lost three
days ago, set not your mind on them; for they are found. And
on whom is all the desire of Israel? Is it not on you, and
on all your father’s house?
10:1 Then Samuel took a
vial of oil, and poured it on his head, and kissed him, and
said, Is it not because the LORD has anointed you to be
captain over his inheritance? 2 When you are departed
from me to day, then you shall find two men by Rachel’s
sepulcher in the border of Benjamin at Zelzah; and they will
say to you, The asses which you went to seek are found: and,
see, your father has left the care of the asses, and sorrows
for you, saying, What shall I do for my son? 3 Then shall
you go on forward from there, and you shall come to the
plain of Tabor, and there shall meet you three men going up
to God to Bethel, one carrying three kids, and another
carrying three loaves of bread, and another carrying a
bottle of wine: 4 And they will salute you, and give you
two loaves of bread; which you shall receive of their hands.
5 After that you shall come to the hill of God, where is the
garrison of the Philistines: and it shall come to pass, when
you are come thither to the city, that you shall meet a
company of prophets coming down from the high place with a
psaltery, and a tabret, and a pipe, and a harp, before them;
and they shall prophesy: 6 And the Spirit of the LORD
will come on you, and you shall prophesy with them, and
shall be turned into another man. 7 And let it be, when
these signs are come to you, that you do as occasion serve
you; for God is with you. 8 And you shall go down before
me to Gilgal; and, behold, I will come down to you, to offer
burnt offerings, and to sacrifice sacrifices of peace
offerings: seven days shall you tarry, till I come to you,
and show you what you shall do. 9 And it was so, that
when he had turned his back to go from Samuel, God gave him
another heart: and all those signs came to pass that day.
10 And when they came thither to the hill, behold, a company
of prophets met him; and the Spirit of God came on him, and
he prophesied among them. 11 And it came to pass, when
all that knew him beforetime saw that, behold, he prophesied
among the prophets, then the people said one to another,
What is this that is come to the son of Kish? Is Saul also
among the prophets? 12 And one of the same place answered
and said, But who is their father? Therefore it became a
proverb, Is Saul also among the prophets?
28:5 And
when Saul saw the host of the Philistines, he was afraid,
and his heart greatly trembled. 6 And when Saul inquired
of the LORD, the LORD answered him not, neither by dreams,
nor by Urim, nor by prophets.
1 Ki 18:3 And
Ahab called Obadiah, which was the governor of his house.
(Now Obadiah feared the LORD greatly: 4 For it was so,
when Jezebel cut off the prophets of the LORD, that Obadiah
took an hundred prophets, and hid them by fifty in a cave,
and fed them with bread and water.)
19:9 And he came
thither to a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word
of the LORD came to him, and he said to him, What do you
here, Elijah? 10 And he said, I have been very jealous
for the LORD God of hosts: for the children of Israel have
forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and slain
your prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left;
and they seek my life, to take it away. 16 And Jehu the
son of Nimshi shall you anoint to be king over Israel: and
Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abelmeholah shall you anoint to
be prophet in your room.
20:35 And a certain man of
the sons of the prophets said to his neighbor in the word of
the LORD, Smite me, I pray you. And the man refused to smite
him. 36 Then said he to him, Because you have not obeyed
the voice of the LORD, behold, as soon as you are departed
from me, a lion shall slay you. And as soon as he was
departed from him, a lion found him, and slew him. 37
Then he found another man, and said, Smite me, I pray you.
And the man smote him, so that in smiting he wounded him.
38 So the prophet departed, and waited for the king by the
way, and disguised himself with ashes on his face. 39 And
as the king passed by, he cried to the king: and he said,
Your servant went out into the middle of the battle; and,
behold, a man turned aside, and brought a man to me, and
said, Keep this man: if by any means he be missing, then
shall your life be for his life, or else you shall pay a
talent of silver. 40 And as your servant was busy here
and there, he was gone. And the king of Israel said to him,
So shall your judgment be; yourself have decided it. 41
And he hurried, and took the ashes away from his face; and
the king of Israel discerned him that he was of the
prophets. 42 And he said to him, Thus said the LORD,
Because you have let go out of your hand a man whom I
appointed to utter destruction, therefore your life shall go
for his life, and your people for his people. 43 And the
king of Israel went to his house heavy and displeased, and
came to Samaria.
22:6 Then the king of Israel
gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and
said to them, Shall I go against Ramothgilead to battle, or
shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for the LORD shall
deliver it into the hand of the king. 7 And Jehoshaphat
said, Is there not here a prophet of the LORD besides, that
we might inquire of him? 8 And the king of Israel said to
Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah,
by whom we may inquire of the LORD: but I hate him; for he
does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And
Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so. 9 Then the
king of Israel called an officer, and said, Hasten here
Micaiah the son of Imlah. 10 And the king of Israel and
Jehoshaphat the king of Judah sat each on his throne, having
put on their robes, in a void place in the entrance of the
gate of Samaria; and all the prophets prophesied before
them. 11 And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made him horns
of iron: and he said, Thus said the LORD, With these shall
you push the Syrians, until you have consumed them. 12
And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to
Ramothgilead, and prosper: for the LORD shall deliver it
into the king’s hand. 13 And the messenger that was gone
to call Micaiah spoke to him, saying, Behold now, the words
of the prophets declare good to the king with one mouth: let
your word, I pray you, be like the word of one of them, and
speak that which is good. 14 And Micaiah said, As the
LORD lives, what the LORD said to me, that will I speak.
15 So he came to the king. And the king said to him,
Micaiah, shall we go against Ramothgilead to battle, or
shall we forbear? And he answered him, Go, and prosper: for
the LORD shall deliver it into the hand of the king. 16
And the king said to him, How many times shall I adjure you
that you tell me nothing but that which is true in the name
of the LORD? 17 And he said, I saw all Israel scattered
on the hills, as sheep that have not a shepherd: and the
LORD said, These have no master: let them return every man
to his house in peace. 18 And the king of Israel said to
Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell you that he would prophesy no
good concerning me, but evil?
2 Ki 2:1 And it
came to pass, when the LORD would take up Elijah into heaven
by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.
2 And Elijah said to Elisha, Tarry here, I pray you; for the
LORD has sent me to Bethel. And Elisha said to him, As the
LORD lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you. So
they went down to Bethel. 3 And the sons of the prophets
that were at Bethel came forth to Elisha, and said to him,
Know you that the LORD will take away your master from your
head to day? And he said, Yes, I know it; hold you your
peace. 4 And Elijah said to him, Elisha, tarry here, I
pray you; for the LORD has sent me to Jericho. And he said,
As the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave
you. So they came to Jericho. 5 And the sons of the
prophets that were at Jericho came to Elisha, and said to
him, Know you that the LORD will take away your master from
your head to day? And he answered, Yes, I know it; hold you
your peace. 6 And Elijah said to him, Tarry, I pray you,
here; for the LORD has sent me to Jordan. And he said, As
the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave
you. And they two went on. 7 And fifty men of the sons of
the prophets went, and stood to view afar off: and they two
stood by Jordan.
3:11 But Jehoshaphat said, Is there
not here a prophet of the LORD, that we may inquire of the
LORD by him? And one of the king of Israel’s servants
answered and said, Here is Elisha the son of Shaphat, which
poured water on the hands of Elijah. 12 And Jehoshaphat
said, The word of the LORD is with him. So the king of
Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to
him. 13 And Elisha said to the king of Israel, What have
I to do with you? get you to the prophets of your father,
and to the prophets of your mother. And the king of Israel
said to him, No: for the LORD has called these three kings
together, to deliver them into the hand of Moab. 14 And
Elisha said, As the LORD of hosts lives, before whom I
stand, surely, were it not that I regard the presence of
Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, I would not look toward you,
nor see you. 15 But now bring me a minstrel. And it came
to pass, when the minstrel played, that the hand of the LORD
came on him. 16 And he said, Thus said the LORD, Make
this valley full of ditches. 17 For thus said the LORD,
You shall not see wind, neither shall you see rain; yet that
valley shall be filled with water, that you may drink, both
you, and your cattle, and your beasts. 18 And this is but
a light thing in the sight of the LORD: he will deliver the
Moabites also into your hand.
4:12 And he said to
Gehazi his servant, Call this Shunammite. And when he had
called her, she stood before him. 13 And he said to him,
Say now to her, Behold, you have been careful for us with
all this care; what is to be done for you? would you be
spoken for to the king, or to the captain of the host? And
she answered, I dwell among my own people. 14 And he
said, What then is to be done for her? And Gehazi answered,
Truly she has no child, and her husband is old. 15 And he
said, Call her. And when he had called her, she stood in the
door. 16 And he said, About this season, according to the
time of life, you shall embrace a son. And she said, No, my
lord, you man of God, do not lie to your handmaid. 17 And
the woman conceived, and bore a son at that season that
Elisha had said to her, according to the time of life.
4:27 And when she came to the man of God to the hill,
she caught him by the feet: but Gehazi came near to thrust
her away. And the man of God said, Let her alone; for her
soul is vexed within her: and the LORD has hid it from me,
and has not told me.
5:25 But he went in, and stood
before his master. And Elisha said to him, From where come
you, Gehazi? And he said, Your servant went no where. 26
And he said to him, Went not my heart with you, when the man
turned again from his chariot to meet you? Is it a time to
receive money, and to receive garments, and olive groves,
and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and
maidservants? 27 The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall
stick to you, and to your seed for ever. And he went out
from his presence a leper as white as snow.
6:8 Then
the king of Syria warred against Israel, and took counsel
with his servants, saying, In such and such a place shall be
my camp. 9 And the man of God sent to the king of Israel,
saying, Beware that you pass not such a place; for thither
the Syrians are come down. 10 And the king of Israel sent
to the place which the man of God told him and warned him
of, and saved himself there, not once nor twice. 11
Therefore the heart of the king of Syria was sore troubled
for this thing; and he called his servants, and said to
them, Will you not show me which of us is for the king of
Israel? 12 And one of his servants said, None, my lord, O
king: but Elisha, the prophet that is in Israel, tells the
king of Israel the words that you speak in your bedchamber.
6:30 And it came to pass, when the king heard the words
of the woman, that he rent his clothes; and he passed by on
the wall, and the people looked, and, behold, he had
sackcloth within on his flesh. 31 Then he said, God do so
and more also to me, if the head of Elisha the son of
Shaphat shall stand on him this day. 32 But Elisha sat in
his house, and the elders sat with him; and the king sent a
man from before him: but ere the messenger came to him, he
said to the elders, See you how this son of a murderer has
sent to take away my head? look, when the messenger comes,
shut the door, and hold him fast at the door: is not the
sound of his master’s feet behind him? 33 And while he
yet talked with them, behold, the messenger came down to
him: and he said, Behold, this evil is of the LORD; what
should I wait for the LORD any longer?
7:1 Then
Elisha said, Hear you the word of the LORD; Thus said the
LORD, To morrow about this time shall a measure of fine
flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a
shekel, in the gate of Samaria. 2 Then a lord on whose
hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said,
Behold, if the LORD would make windows in heaven, might this
thing be? And he said, Behold, you shall see it with your
eyes, but shall not eat thereof. 16 And the people went
out, and spoiled the tents of the Syrians. So a measure of
fine flour was sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley
for a shekel, according to the word of the LORD. 17 And
the king appointed the lord on whose hand he leaned to have
the charge of the gate: and the people stepped on him in the
gate, and he died, as the man of God had said, who spoke
when the king came down to him. 18 And it came to pass as
the man of God had spoken to the king, saying, Two measures
of barley for a shekel, and a measure of fine flour for a
shekel, shall be to morrow about this time in the gate of
Samaria: 19 And that lord answered the man of God, and
said, Now, behold, if the LORD should make windows in
heaven, might such a thing be? And he said, Behold, you
shall see it with your eyes, but shall not eat thereof.
20 And so it fell out to him: for the people stepped on him
in the gate, and he died.
17:13 Yet the LORD
testified against Israel, and against Judah, by all the
prophets, and by all the seers, saying, Turn you from your
evil ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes,
according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and
which I sent to you by my servants the prophets. 14
Notwithstanding they would not hear, but hardened their
necks, like to the neck of their fathers, that did not
believe in the LORD their God.
22:14 So Hilkiah the
priest, and Ahikam, and Achbor, and Shaphan, and Asahiah,
went to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son
of Tikvah, the son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe; (now
she dwelled in Jerusalem in the college;) and they communed
with her.

Neh 9:26 Nevertheless they were disobedient, and
rebelled against you, and cast your law behind their backs,

Ps 74:7 They have cast fire into your
sanctuary, they have defiled by casting down the dwelling
place of your name to the ground. 8 They said in their
hearts, Let us destroy them together: they have burned up
all the synagogues of God in the land. 9 We see not our
signs: there is no more any prophet: neither is there among
us any that knows how long.
105:15 Saying, Touch not
my anointed, and do my prophets no harm.
Isa
29:10 For the LORD has poured out on you the spirit of deep
sleep, and has closed your eyes: the prophets and your
rulers, the seers has he covered.
Jer 1:4 Then

Lam 2:9 Her

Eze 1:1 Now
it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month,
in the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives
by the river of Chebar, that the heavens were opened, and I
saw visions of God.

spoken by the prophets, and I have multiplied visions, and
used similitudes, by the ministry of the prophets.
12:13 And by a prophet the LORD brought Israel out of Egypt,

Joel 2:28
And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my
spirit on all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall
prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men
shall see visions: 29 And also on the servants and on the
handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.
Am 2:10 Also I brought you up from the land of Egypt,
and led you forty years through the wilderness, to possess
the land of the Amorite. 11 And I raised up of your sons
for prophets, and of your young men for Nazarites. Is it not
even thus, O you children of Israel? said the LORD. 12
But you gave the Nazarites wine to drink; and commanded the
prophets, saying, Prophesy not.
3:6 Shall a trumpet
be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall
there be evil in a city, and the LORD has not done it? 7
Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he reveals his
secret to his servants the prophets. 8 The lion has
roared, who will not fear? the Lord GOD has spoken, who can
but prophesy?
7:14 Then answered Amos, and said to
Amaziah, I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet’s son;
but I was an herdsman, and a gatherer of sycomore fruit:
15 And the LORD took me as I followed the flock, and the
LORD said to me, Go, prophesy to my people Israel.

we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as

6 Or I only and Barnabas, have not we power to forbear

charges? who plants a vineyard, and eats not of the fruit
thereof? or who feeds a flock, and eats not of the milk of

Moses, You shall not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treads
out the corn. Does God take care for oxen? 10 Or said he
it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this
is written: that he that plows should plow in hope; and that
he that threshes in hope should be partaker of his hope.
11 If we have sown to you spiritual things, is it a great
thing if we shall reap your carnal things? 12 If others
be partakers of this power over you, are not we rather?
Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer all
things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ. 13 Do
you not know that they which minister about holy things live
of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the
altar are partakers with the altar? 14 Even so has the
Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live
of the gospel. 15 But I have used none of these things:
neither have I written these things, that it should be so
done to me: for it were better for me to die, than that any
man should make my glorying void. 16 For though I preach
the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is
laid on me; yes, woe is to me, if I preach not the gospel!
17 For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: but if
against my will, a dispensation of the gospel is committed
to me. 18 What is my reward then? Truly that, when I
preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without
charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel.

Cor 11:7 Have I committed an offense in abasing myself
that you might be exalted, because I have preached to you
the gospel of God freely? 8 I robbed other churches,
taking wages of them, to do you service. 9 And when I was
present with you, and wanted, I was chargeable to no man:
for that which was lacking to me the brothers which came
from Macedonia supplied: and in all things I have kept
myself from being burdensome to you, and so will I keep
myself. 10 As the truth of Christ is in me, no man shall
stop me of this boasting in the regions of Achaia.
Gal 6:6 Let him that is taught in the word
communicate to him that teaches in all good things.
1 Th 5:12 And we beseech you, brothers, to know them
which labor among you, and are over you in the Lord, and
admonish you; 13 And to esteem them very highly in love
for their work’s sake. And be at peace among yourselves.
1 Tim 5:17 Let the elders that rule well be
counted worthy of double honor, especially they who labor in
the word and doctrine. 18 For the scripture said, You
shall not muzzle the ox that treads out the corn. And, The
laborer is worthy of his reward.
2 Tim 2:3 You
therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus
Christ. 4 No man that wars entangles himself with the
affairs of this life; that he may please him who has chosen
him to be a soldier. 5 And if a man also strive for
masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.
6 The farmer that labors must be first partaker of the
fruits. 7 Consider what I say; and the Lord give you
understanding in all things.
Num 18:21 And,
behold, I have given the children of Levi all the tenth in
Israel for an inheritance, for their service which they
serve, even the service of the tabernacle of the
congregation.
Neh 13:10 And I perceived that
the portions of the Levites had not been given them: for the
Levites and the singers, that did the work, were fled every
one to his field. 11 Then contended I with the rulers,
and said, Why is the house of God forsaken? And I gathered
them together, and set them in their place. 12 Then
brought all Judah the tithe of the corn and the new wine and
the oil to the treasuries.
