Mt 6:24 No
man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one,
and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and
despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.
13:22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that
hears the word; and the care of this world, and the
deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becomes
unfruitful.
19:21 Jesus said to him, If you will be
perfect, go and sell that you have, and give to the poor,
and you shall have treasure in heaven: and come and follow

16:10 He that is
faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much:
and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.
11 If therefore you have not been faithful in the
unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true
riches? 12 And if you have not been faithful in that
which is another man’s, who shall give you that which is
your own? 13 No servant can serve two masters: for either

revilers, nor extortionists, shall inherit the kingdom of
God.
Eph 5:3 But fornication, and all
uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among
you, as becomes saints; 4 Neither filthiness, nor foolish
talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather
giving of thanks. 5 For this you know, that no
fornicator, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an
idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and

Idolatry
Mt
4:8 Again, the devil takes him up into an exceeding high
mountain, and shows him all the kingdoms of the world, and
the glory of them; 9 And said to him, All these things
will I give you, if you will fall down and worship me. 10
Then said Jesus to him, Get you hence, Satan: for it is
written, You shall worship the Lord your God, and him only
shall you serve.
Acts 12:21 And on a set day
Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat on his throne, and made
an oration to them. 22 And the people gave a shout,
saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man. 23
And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he
gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave

14:11 And when the people saw what Paul had done, they

The gods are come down to us in the likeness of men. 12

these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and
preach to you that you should turn from these vanities to
the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea,
and all things that are therein: 16 Who in times past
suffered all nations to walk in their own ways. 17
Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he
did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful
seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness. 18
And with these sayings scarce restrained they the people,
that they had not done sacrifice to them.
15:19 Why
my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among
the Gentiles are turned to God: 20 But that we write to
them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from
fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.
17:16 Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his
spirit was stirred in him, when he saw the city wholly given
to idolatry. 22 Then Paul stood in the middle of Mars’
hill, and said, You men of Athens, I perceive that in all
things you are too superstitious. 23 For as I passed by,
and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this
inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore you
ignorantly worship, him declare I to you. 24 God that
made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is
Lord of heaven and earth, dwells not in temples made with
hands; 25 Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as
though he needed any thing, seeing he gives to all life, and
breath, and all things; 26 And has made of one blood all
nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth,
and has determined the times before appointed, and the
bounds of their habitation; 27 That they should seek the
Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him,
though he be not far from every one of us: 28 For in him
we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of
your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.
29 For as much then as we are the offspring of God, we ought
not to think that the Godhead is like to gold, or silver, or
stone, graven by are and man’s device. 30 And the times
of this ignorance God winked at; but now commands all men
every where to repent: 31 Because he has appointed a day,
in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by
that man whom he has ordained; whereof he has given
assurance to all men, in that he has raised him from the
dead. 32 And when they heard of the resurrection of the
dead, some mocked: and others said, We will hear you again
of this matter.
19:23 And the same time there arose
no small stir about that way. 24 For a certain man named
Demetrius, a silversmith, which made silver shrines for
Diana, brought no small gain to the craftsmen; 25 Whom he
called together with the workmen of like occupation, and
said, Sirs, you know that by this craft we have our wealth.
26 Moreover you see and hear, that not alone at Ephesus, but
almost throughout all Asia, this Paul has persuaded and
turned away much people, saying that they be no gods, which
are made with hands: 27 So that not only this our craft
is in danger to be set at nothing; but also that the temple
of the great goddess Diana should be despised, and her
magnificence should be destroyed, whom all Asia and the
world worships. 28 And when they heard these sayings,
they were full of wrath, and cried out, saying, Great is
Diana of the Ephesians.
Rom 1:19 Because that
which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God has
showed it to them. 20 For the invisible things of him
from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being
understood by the things that are made, even his eternal
power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: 21
Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as
God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their
imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22
Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, 23
And changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image
made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and four footed
beasts, and creeping things. 24 Why God also gave them up
to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to
dishonor their own bodies between themselves: 25 Who
changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and
served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed
for ever. Amen.

Now as touching things offered to idols, we know that we all
have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but charity edifies.
2 And if any man think that he knows any thing, he knows
nothing yet as he ought to know. 3 But if any man love
God, the same is known of him. 4 As concerning therefore
the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice to
idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and
that there is none other God but one. 5 For though there
be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as
there be gods many, and lords many,) 6 But to us there is
but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in
him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and
we by him. 7 However, there is not in every man that
knowledge: for some with conscience of the idol to this hour
eat it as a thing offered to an idol; and their conscience
being weak is defiled.
10:5 But with many of them God
was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the
wilderness. 6 Now these things were our examples, to the
intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also
lusted. 7 Neither be you idolaters, as were some of them;
as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and
rose up to play.
10:14 Why, my dearly beloved, flee
from idolatry. 15 I speak as to wise men; judge you what
I say.
10:19 What say I then? that the idol is any
thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any
thing? 20 But I say, that the things which the Gentiles
sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I
would not that you should have fellowship with devils. 21
You cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils:
you cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the
table of devils. 22 Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy?
are we stronger than he?
12:2 You know that you were
Gentiles, carried away to these dumb idols, even as you were
led.
2 Cor 6:15 And what concord has Christ
with Belial? or what part has he that believes with an
infidel? 16 And what agreement has the temple of God with
idols? for you are the temple of the living God; as God has
said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be
their God, and they shall be my people.

4:8 However, then, when you knew not God, you did service to
them which by nature are no gods. 9 But now, after that
you have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn you
again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto you
desire again to be in bondage?
5:19 Now the works of
the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery,
fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry,
witchcraft, hatred, variance, jealousies, wrath, strife,
seditions, heresies, 21 Contentions, murders,
drunkenness, revelings, and such like: of the which I tell
you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they
which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
Eph 5:5 For this you know, that no fornicator,
nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater,
has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
Col 2:18 Let no man beguile you of your reward in
a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding
into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by
his fleshly mind,

show of us what manner of entering in we had to you, and how
you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true

Rev 9:20 And the rest of the men which
were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the
works of their hands, that they should not worship devils,
and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of
wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk: 21
Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their
sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.
14:9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a
loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and
receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, 10 The
same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is
poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation;
and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the
presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the
Lamb: 11 And the smoke of their torment ascends up for
ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who
worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the
mark of his name.
21:8 But the fearful, and
unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and
fornicators, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars,
shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and
brimstone: which is the second death.
22:8 And I John
saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and
seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel
which showed me these things. 9 Then said he to me, See
you do it not: for I am your fellow servant, and of your
brothers the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of
this book: worship God.
22:14 Blessed are they that
do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of
life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and fornicators, and
murderers, and idolaters, and whoever loves and makes a lie.

graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven

water under the earth. 5 You shall not bow down yourself
to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD your God am a
jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the
children to the third and fourth generation of them that
hate me; 6 And showing mercy to thousands of them that
love me, and keep my commandments. 7 You shall not take
the name of the LORD your God in vain; for the LORD will not
hold him guiltless that takes his name in vain.

And in all things that I have said to you be circumspect:
and make no mention of the name of other gods, neither let
it be heard out of your mouth.
23:24 You shall not
bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor do after their
works: but you shall utterly overthrow them, and quite break
down their images. 32 You shall make no covenant with
them, nor with their gods.
32:1 And when the people
saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the
people gathered themselves together to Aaron, and said to
him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for
this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of
Egypt, we know not what is become of him. 2 And Aaron
said to them, Break off the golden earrings, which are in
the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters,
and bring them to me. 3 And all the people broke off the
golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them
to Aaron. 4 And he received them at their hand, and
fashioned it with a engraving tool, after he had made it a
molten calf: and they said, These be your gods, O Israel,
which brought you up out of the land of Egypt. 5 And when
Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made
proclamation, and said, To morrow is a feast to the LORD.
6 And they rose up early on the morrow, and offered burnt
offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat
down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play. 7 And the
LORD said to Moses, Go, get you down; for your people, which
you brought out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted
themselves: 8 They have turned aside quickly out of the
way which I commanded them: they have made them a molten
calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed thereunto,
and said, These be your gods, O Israel, which have brought
you up out of the land of Egypt.
34:12 Take heed to
yourself, lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of
the land where you go, lest it be for a snare in the middle
of you: 13 But you shall destroy their altars, break
their images, and cut down their groves: 14 For you shall
worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous,
is a jealous God:
Lev 17:7 And they shall no
more offer their sacrifices to devils, after whom they have
gone a whoring. This shall be a statute for ever to them
throughout their generations.
19:4 Turn you not to
idols, nor make to yourselves molten gods: I am the LORD
your God.
26:1 You shall make you no idols nor graven
image, neither raise you up a standing image, neither shall
you set up any image of stone in your land, to bow down to
it: for I am the LORD your God.
Num 25:1 And
Israel stayed in Shittim, and the people began to commit
prostitution with the daughters of Moab. 2 And they
called the people to the sacrifices of their gods: and the
people did eat, and bowed down to their gods. 3 And
Israel joined himself to Baalpeor: and the anger of the LORD
was kindled against Israel.
De 4:15 Take you
therefore good heed to yourselves; for you saw no manner of
similitude on the day that the LORD spoke to you in Horeb
out of the middle of the fire: 16 Lest you corrupt
yourselves, and make you a graven image, the similitude of
any figure, the likeness of male or female,
7:5 But
thus shall you deal with them; you shall destroy their
altars, and break down their images, and cut down their
groves, and burn their graven images with fire.

The graven images of their gods shall you burn with fire:
you shall not desire the silver or gold that is on them, nor
take it to you, lest you be snared therein: for it is an
abomination to the LORD your God. 26 Neither shall you
bring an abomination into your house, lest you be a cursed
thing like it: but you shall utterly detest it, and you
shall utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing.
16:22 Neither shall you set you up any image; which the LORD

to God; to gods whom they knew not, to new gods that came
newly up, whom your fathers feared not. 18 Of the Rock
that begat you you are unmindful, and have forgotten God
that formed you.
32:21 They have moved me to jealousy
with that which is not God; they have provoked me to anger
with their vanities: and I will move them to jealousy with
those which are not a people; I will provoke them to anger
with a foolish nation.
Jos 24:2 And Joshua
said to all the people, Thus said the LORD God of Israel,
Your fathers dwelled on the other side of the flood in old
time, even Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of
Nachor: and they served other gods. 15 And if it seem
evil to you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom you
will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that
were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the
Amorites, in whose land you dwell: but as for me and my
house, we will serve the LORD.
Judges 2:10 And
also all that generation were gathered to their fathers: and
there arose another generation after them, which knew not
the LORD, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel.
11 And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the
LORD, and served Baalim: 12 And they forsook the LORD God
of their fathers, which brought them out of the land of
Egypt, and followed other gods, of the gods of the people
that were round about them, and bowed themselves to them,
and provoked the LORD to anger.
10:10 And the
children of Israel cried to the LORD, saying, We have sinned
against you, both because we have forsaken our God, and also
served Baalim. 16 And they put away the strange gods from
among them, and served the LORD: and his soul was grieved
for the misery of Israel.
17:1 And there was a man of
mount Ephraim, whose name was Micah. 2 And he said to his
mother, The eleven hundred shekels of silver that were taken
from you, about which you cursed, and spoke of also in my
ears, behold, the silver is with me; I took it. And his
mother said, Blessed be you of the LORD, my son. 3 And
when he had restored the eleven hundred shekels of silver to
his mother, his mother said, I had wholly dedicated the
silver to the LORD from my hand for my son, to make a graven
image and a molten image: now therefore I will restore it to
you. 4 Yet he restored the money to his mother; and his
mother took two hundred shekels of silver, and gave them to
the founder, who made thereof a graven image and a molten
image: and they were in the house of Micah. 5 And the man
Micah had an house of gods, and made an ephod, and teraphim,
and consecrated one of his sons, who became his priest. 6
In those days there was no king in Israel, but every man did
that which was right in his own eyes.
1 Sam
7:3 And Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, If
you do return to the LORD with all your hearts, then put
away the strange gods and Ashtaroth from among you, and
prepare your hearts to the LORD, and serve him only: and he
will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines. 4
Then the children of Israel did put away Baalim and
Ashtaroth, and served the LORD only.
19:12 So Michal
let David down through a window: and he went, and fled, and
escaped. 13 And Michal took an image, and laid it in the
bed, and put a pillow of goats’ hair for his bolster, and
covered it with a cloth.

Jeroboam said in his heart, Now shall the kingdom return to
the house of David: 27 If this people go up to do
sacrifice in the house of the LORD at Jerusalem, then shall
the heart of this people turn again to their lord, even to
Rehoboam king of Judah, and they shall kill me, and go again

counsel, and made two calves of gold, and said to them, It
is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem: behold your gods,
O Israel, which brought you up out of the land of Egypt.
29 And he set the one in Bethel, and the other put he in
Dan. 30 And this thing became a sin: for the people went
to worship before the one, even to Dan. 31 And he made an
house of high places, and made priests of the lowest of the
people, which were not of the sons of Levi. 32 And
Jeroboam ordained a feast in the eighth month, on the
fifteenth day of the month, like to the feast that is in
Judah, and he offered on the altar. So did he in Bethel,
sacrificing to the calves that he had made: and he placed in
Bethel the priests of the high places which he had made.
16:30 And Ahab the son of Omri did evil in the sight of
the LORD above all that were before him. 31 And it came
to pass, as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in
the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took to wife
Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Zidonians, and
went and served Baal, and worshipped him. 32 And he
reared up an altar for Baal in the house of Baal, which he
had built in Samaria. 33 And Ahab made a grove; and Ahab
did more to provoke the LORD God of Israel to anger than all
the kings of Israel that were before him.
18:21 And
Elijah came to all the people, and said, How long halt you
between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if
Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a
word.
19:18 Yet I have left me seven thousand in
Israel, all the knees which have not bowed to Baal, and
every mouth which has not kissed him.

3:26 And when the king of Moab saw that the battle was too
sore for him, he took with him seven hundred men that drew
swords, to break through even to the king of Edom: but they
could not. 27 Then he took his oldest son that should
have reigned in his stead, and offered him for a burnt
offering on the wall. And there was great indignation
against Israel: and they departed from him, and returned to
their own land.
17:29 However, every nation made gods
of their own, and put them in the houses of the high places
which the Samaritans had made, every nation in their cities
wherein they dwelled. 30 And the men of Babylon made
Succothbenoth, and the men of Cuth made Nergal, and the men
of Hamath made Ashima, 31 And the Avites made Nibhaz and
Tartak, and the Sepharvites burnt their children in fire to
Adrammelech and Anammelech, the gods of Sepharvaim. 32 So
they feared the LORD, and made to themselves of the lowest
of them priests of the high places, which sacrificed for
them in the houses of the high places. 33 They feared the
LORD, and served their own gods, after the manner of the
nations whom they carried away from there. 34 To this day
they do after the former manners: they fear not the LORD,
neither do they after their statutes, or after their
ordinances, or after the law and commandment which the LORD
commanded the children of Jacob, whom he named Israel; 41
So these nations feared the LORD, and served their graven
images, both their children, and their children’s children:
as did their fathers, so do they to this day.

Now it came to pass in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah
king of Israel, that Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah
began to reign. 2 Twenty and five years old was he when
he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and nine years in
Jerusalem. His mother’s name also was Abi, the daughter of
Zachariah. 3 And he did that which was right in the sight
of the LORD, according to all that David his father did.
4 He removed the high places, and broke the images, and cut
down the groves, and broke in pieces the brazen serpent that
Moses had made: for to those days the children of Israel did
burn incense to it: and he called it Nehushtan.
21:1
Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign, and
reigned fifty and five years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s
name was Hephzibah. 2 And he did that which was evil in
the sight of the LORD, after the abominations of the
heathen, whom the LORD cast out before the children of
Israel. 3 For he built up again the high places which
Hezekiah his father had destroyed; and he reared up altars
for Baal, and made a grove, as did Ahab king of Israel; and
worshipped all the host of heaven, and served them. 4 And
he built altars in the house of the LORD, of which the LORD
said, In Jerusalem will I put my name. 5 And he built
altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the
house of the LORD. 6 And he made his son pass through the
fire, and observed times, and used enchantments, and dealt
with familiar spirits and wizards: he worked much wickedness
in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.
23:4 And the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, and the
priests of the second order, and the keepers of the door, to
bring forth out of the temple of the LORD all the vessels
that were made for Baal, and for the grove, and for all the
host of heaven: and he burned them without Jerusalem in the
fields of Kidron, and carried the ashes of them to Bethel.
5 And he put down the idolatrous priests, whom the kings of
Judah had ordained to burn incense in the high places in the
cities of Judah, and in the places round about Jerusalem;
them also that burned incense to Baal, to the sun, and to
the moon, and to the planets, and to all the host of heaven.
6 And he brought out the grove from the house of the LORD,
without Jerusalem, to the brook Kidron, and burned it at the
brook Kidron, and stamped it small to powder, and cast the
powder thereof on the graves of the children of the people.
7 And he broke down the houses of the sodomites, that were
by the house of the LORD, where the women wove hangings for
the grove. 8 And he brought all the priests out of the
cities of Judah, and defiled the high places where the
priests had burned incense, from Geba to Beersheba, and
broke down the high places of the gates that were in the
entering in of the gate of Joshua the governor of the city,
which were on a man’s left hand at the gate of the city.
9 Nevertheless the priests of the high places came not up to
the altar of the LORD in Jerusalem, but they did eat of the
unleavened bread among their brothers. 10 And he defiled
Topheth, which is in the valley of the children of Hinnom,
that no man might make his son or his daughter to pass
through the fire to Molech. 11 And he took away the
horses that the kings of Judah had given to the sun, at the
entering in of the house of the LORD, by the chamber of
Nathanmelech the chamberlain, which was in the suburbs, and
burned the chariots of the sun with fire. 12 And the
altars that were on the top of the upper chamber of Ahaz,
which the kings of Judah had made, and the altars which
Manasseh had made in the two courts of the house of the
LORD, did the king beat down, and broke them down from
there, and cast the dust of them into the brook Kidron.
13 And the high places that were before Jerusalem, which
were on the right hand of the mount of corruption, which
Solomon the king of Israel had built for Ashtoreth the
abomination of the Zidonians, and for Chemosh the
abomination of the Moabites, and for Milcom the abomination
of the children of Ammon, did the king defile. 14 And he
broke in pieces the images, and cut down the groves, and
filled their places with the bones of men. 15 Moreover
the altar that was at Bethel, and the high place which
Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, had made,
both that altar and the high place he broke down, and burned
the high place, and stamped it small to powder, and burned
the grove. 16 And as Josiah turned himself, he spied the
sepulchers that were there in the mount, and sent, and took
the bones out of the sepulchers, and burned them on the
altar, and polluted it, according to the word of the LORD
which the man of God proclaimed, who proclaimed these words.
24 Moreover the workers with familiar spirits, and the
wizards, and the images, and the idols, and all the
abominations that were spied in the land of Judah and in
Jerusalem, did Josiah put away, that he might perform the
words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah
the priest found in the house of the LORD.

Israel resorted to him out of all their coasts. 14 For
the Levites left their suburbs and their possession, and

and for the devils, and for the calves which he had made.
13:8 And now you think to withstand the kingdom of the
LORD in the hand of the sons of David; and you be a great
multitude, and there are with your golden calves, which
Jeroboam made you for gods. 9 Have you not cast out the
priests of the LORD, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, and
have made you priests after the manner of the nations of
other lands? so that whoever comes to consecrate himself
with a young bullock and seven rams, the same may be a
priest of them that are no gods. 10 But as for us, the
LORD is our God, and we have not forsaken him; and the
priests, which minister to the LORD, are the sons of Aaron,
and the Levites wait on their business:

33:9 So Manasseh made Judah and
the inhabitants of Jerusalem to err, and to do worse than
the heathen, whom the LORD had destroyed before the children
of Israel. 12 And when he was in affliction, he sought
the LORD his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God
of his fathers, 13 And prayed to him: and he was
entreated of him, and heard his supplication, and brought
him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew
that the LORD he was God. 15 And he took away the strange
gods, and the idol out of the house of the LORD, and all the
altars that he had built in the mount of the house of the
LORD, and in Jerusalem, and cast them out of the city.
Ps 16:4 Their sorrows shall be multiplied that
hasten after another god: their drink offerings of blood
will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips.
97:7 Confounded be all they that serve graven images,
that boast themselves of idols: worship him, all you gods.
106:19 They made a calf in Horeb, and worshipped the
molten image. 20 Thus they changed their glory into the
similitude of an ox that eats grass. 21 They forgot God
their savior, which had done great things in Egypt; 37
Yes, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters to
devils, 38 And shed innocent blood, even the blood of
their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed to
the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood.
115:3 But our God is in the heavens: he has done
whatever he has pleased. 4 Their idols are silver and
gold, the work of men’s hands. 5 They have mouths, but
they speak not: eyes have they, but they see not: 6 They
have ears, but they hear not: noses have they, but they
smell not: 7 They have hands, but they handle not: feet
have they, but they walk not: neither speak they through
their throat. 8 They that make them are like to them; so
is every one that trusts in them.
135:15 The idols of
the heathen are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands.

Isa 2:8 Their land also is full of
idols; they worship the work of their own hands, that which

30:22 You shall defile
also the covering of your graven images of silver, and the
ornament of your molten images of gold: you shall cast them
away as a menstruous cloth; you shall say to it, Get you
hence.

41:23 Show the things that are to come hereafter, that
we may know that you are gods: yes, do good, or do evil,
that we may be dismayed, and behold it together. 24
Behold, you are of nothing, and your work of nothing: an
abomination is he that chooses you.
42:8 I am the
LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to
another, neither my praise to graven images.

They shall be turned back, they shall be greatly ashamed,
that trust in graven images, that say to the molten images,
You are our gods.
44:9 They that make a graven image
are all of them vanity; and their delectable things shall
not profit; and they are their own witnesses; they see not,
nor know; that they may be ashamed. 10 Who has formed a
god, or molten a graven image that is profitable for

both works in the coals, and fashions it with hammers, and
works it with the strength of his arms: yes, he is hungry,
and his strength fails: he drinks no water, and is faint.
13 The carpenter stretches out his rule; he marks it out
with a line; he fits it with planes, and he marks it out
with the compass, and makes it after the figure of a man,
according to the beauty of a man; that it may remain in the
house. 14 He hews him down cedars, and takes the cypress
and the oak, which he strengthens for himself among the
trees of the forest: he plants an ash, and the rain does
nourish it. 15 Then shall it be for a man to burn: for he
will take thereof, and warm himself; yes, he kindles it, and
bakes bread; yes, he makes a god, and worships it; he makes
it a graven image, and falls down thereto. 16 He burns
part thereof in the fire; with part thereof he eats flesh;
he roasts roast, and is satisfied: yes, he warms himself,
and said, Aha, I am warm, I have seen the fire: 17 And
the residue thereof he makes a god, even his graven image:
he falls down to it, and worships it, and prays to it, and
said, Deliver me; for you are my god. 18 They have not
known nor understood: for he has shut their eyes, that they
cannot see; and their hearts, that they cannot understand.
19 And none considers in his heart, neither is there
knowledge nor understanding to say, I have burned part of it
in the fire; yes, also I have baked bread on the coals
thereof; I have roasted flesh, and eaten it: and shall I
make the residue thereof an abomination? shall I fall down
to the stock of a tree? 20 He feeds on ashes: a deceived
heart has turned him aside, that he cannot deliver his soul,
nor say, Is there not a lie in my right hand?
45:20
Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, you that
are escaped of the nations: they have no knowledge that set
up the wood of their graven image, and pray to a god that
cannot save.
46:4 And even to your old age I am he;
and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I
will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you. 5 To
whom will you liken me, and make me equal, and compare me,
that we may be like? 6 They lavish gold out of the bag,
and weigh silver in the balance, and hire a goldsmith; and
he makes it a god: they fall down, yes, they worship. 7
They bear him on the shoulder, they carry him, and set him
in his place, and he stands; from his place shall he not
remove: yes, one shall cry to him, yet can he not answer,
nor save him out of his trouble.

said the LORD, What iniquity have your fathers found in me,
that they are gone far from me, and have walked after
vanity, and are become vain?
2:28 But where are your
gods that you have made you? let them arise, if they can
save you in the time of your trouble: for according to the
number of your cities are your gods, O Judah.

For the customs of the people are vain: for one cuts a tree
out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman,
with the ax. 4 They deck it with silver and with gold;
they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move
not. 5 They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not:
they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not
afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it
in them to do good.
10:8 But they are altogether
brutish and foolish: the stock is a doctrine of vanities.
9 Silver spread into plates is brought from Tarshish, and
gold from Uphaz, the work of the workman, and of the hands
of the founder: blue and purple is their clothing: they are
all the work of cunning men. 10 But the LORD is the true
God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king: at his
wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be
able to abide his indignation. 11 Thus shall you say to
them, The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth,
even they shall perish from the earth, and from under these
heavens. 14 Every man is brutish in his knowledge: every
founder is confounded by the graven image: for his molten
image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them. 15
They are vanity, and the work of errors: in the time of
their visitation they shall perish.

provinces, were gathered together to the dedication of the
image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up; and they
stood before the image that Nebuchadnezzar had set up. 4
Then an herald cried aloud, To you it is commanded, O
people, nations, and languages, 5 That at what time you
hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut,
psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of music, you fall down
and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king
has set up: 18 But if not, be it known to you, O king,
that we will not serve your gods, nor worship the golden

Hab 2:8 What profits the graven image that the
maker thereof has graven it; the molten image, and a teacher
of lies, that the maker of his work trusts therein, to make

Homosexuality
Rom 1:24 Why God also gave them up to uncleanness
through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own

than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. 26 For
this cause God gave them up to vile affections: for even

Isa 56:10
His watchmen are blind: they are all ignorant, they are all
dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to
slumber. 11 Yes, they are greedy dogs which can never
have enough, and they are shepherds that cannot understand:
they all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from

Blasphemy and opposition to God
Mt 26:63 But Jesus held his peace,
And the high priest answered and said to him, I adjure you
by the living God, that you tell us whether you be the
Christ, the Son of God. 64 Jesus said to him, You have
said: nevertheless I say to you, Hereafter shall you see the
Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in
the clouds of heaven. 65 Then the high priest rent his
clothes, saying, He has spoken blasphemy; what further need
have we of witnesses? behold, now you have heard his
blasphemy.
27:27 Then the soldiers of the governor
took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered to him the
whole band of soldiers. 28 And they stripped him, and put
on him a scarlet robe. 29 And when they had platted a
crown of thorns, they put it on his head, and a reed in his
right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked
him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews! 30 And they spit on
him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head. 31 And
after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from
him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to
crucify him.
27:39 And they that passed by reviled
him, wagging their heads, 40 And saying, You that destroy

Holy Ghost has never forgiveness, but is in danger of

But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by
interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the
deputy from the faith. 9 Then Saul, (who also is called
Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him.
10 And said, O full of all subtlety and all mischief, you
child of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you
not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord? 11 And
now, behold, the hand of the Lord is on you, and you shall
be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately
there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about
seeking some to lead him by the hand. 12 Then the deputy,
when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the
doctrine of the Lord.
26:14 And when we were all
fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking to me, and
saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecute you
me? it is hard for you to kick against the pricks.
Rom 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God

Tit 2:3 The aged women likewise, that they be in

there was given to him a mouth speaking great things and
blasphemies; and power was given to him to continue forty
and two months. 6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy
against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and
them that dwell in heaven.
16:9 And men were scorched
with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which has
power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him
glory. 10 And the fifth angel poured out his vial on the
seat of the beast; and his kingdom was full of darkness; and
they gnawed their tongues for pain, 11 And blasphemed the
God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and
repented not of their deeds.
16:21 And there fell on
men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight
of a talent: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of
the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great.
17:3 So he carried me away in the spirit into the
wilderness: and I saw a woman sit on a scarlet colored

Ex 22:28 You shall not revile the

when he blasphemes the name of the Lord, shall be put to
death.
1 Sam 3:11 And the LORD said to Samuel,
Behold, I will do a thing in Israel, at which both the ears
of every one that hears it shall tingle. 12 In that day I
will perform against Eli all things which I have spoken
concerning his house: when I begin, I will also make an end.

house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king, and of his
princes; all these he brought to Babylon. 19 And they
burnt the house of God, and broke down the wall of

destroyed all the goodly vessels thereof.

9:26 Nevertheless they were disobedient, and rebelled
against you, and cast your law behind their backs, and slew
your prophets which testified against them to turn them to
you, and they worked great provocations. 27 Therefore you
delivered them into the hand of their enemies, who vexed
them: and in the time of their trouble, when they cried to
you, you heard them from heaven; and according to your
manifold mercies you gave them saviors, who saved them out

35:6 If
you sin, what do you against him? or if your transgressions
be multiplied, what do you to him?
Ps 1:1
Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the
ungodly, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the
seat of the scornful.
10:3 For the wicked boasts of
his heart’s desire, and blesses the covetous, whom the LORD
abhors. 4 The wicked, through the pride of his
countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his
thoughts.
10:12 Arise, O LORD; O God, lift up your
hand: forget not the humble. 13 Why does the wicked scorn
God? he has said in his heart, You will not require it.
14:1 The fool has said in his heart, There is no God.
They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is
none that does good.
22:6 But I am a worm, and no
man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people. 7 All
they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip,
they shake the head, saying, 8 He trusted on the LORD
that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he
delighted in him.
37:20 But the wicked shall perish,
and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs:
they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away.
74:10 O God, how long shall the adversary reproach?
shall the enemy blaspheme your name for ever? 18 Remember

Pr 1:22 How long, you

delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge? 23

Isa
1:4 Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed
of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have
forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel
to anger, they are gone away backward. 5 Why should you
be stricken any more? you will revolt more and more: the
whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.

For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen: because their
tongue and their doings are against the LORD, to provoke the
eyes of his glory. 9 The show of their countenance does

they hide it not. Woe to their soul! for they have rewarded
evil to themselves. 10 Say you to the righteous, that it
shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of

5:24 Therefore as the fire devours the stubble, and the
flame consumes the chaff, so their root shall be as
rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust: because
they have cast away the law of the LORD of hosts, and
despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.
8:20 To
the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to
this word, it is because there is no light in them. 21
And they shall pass through it, hardly bestead and hungry:
and it shall come to pass, that when they shall be hungry,
they shall fret themselves, and curse their king and their

10:15 Shall the
ax boast itself against him that hews therewith? or shall
the saw magnify itself against him that shakes it? as if the
rod should shake itself against them that lift it up, or as
if the staff should lift up itself, as if it were no wood.
28:20 For the bed is shorter than that a man can stretch
himself on it: and the covering narrower than that he can
wrap himself in it. 21 For the LORD shall rise up as in
mount Perazim, he shall be wroth as in the valley of Gibeon,
that he may do his work, his strange work; and bring to pass
his act, his strange act. 22 Now therefore be you not
mockers, lest your bands be made strong: for I have heard
from the Lord GOD of hosts a consumption, even determined on
the whole earth.
37:28 But I know your stayed, and
your going out, and your coming in, and your rage against

come up into my ears, therefore will I put my hook in your
nose, and my bridle in your lips, and I will turn you back

Faithfullness
Mt 24:45 Who then is a faithful

mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? 12

1 Pe 5:12 By Silvanus, a faithful
brother to you, as I suppose, I have written briefly,
exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God
wherein you stand.
Rev 2:10 Fear none of those
things which you shall suffer: behold, the devil shall cast
some of you into prison, that you may be tried; and you
shall have tribulation ten days: be you faithful to death,
and I will give you a crown of life. 11 He that has an
ear, let him hear what the Spirit said to the churches; He
that overcomes shall not be hurt of the second death. 12
And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These
things said he which has the sharp sword with two edges;
13 I know your works, and where you dwell, even where
Satan’s seat is: and you hold fast my name, and have not
denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my
faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan
dwells.
17:14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and
the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and
King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and
chosen, and faithful.
Ex 18:21 Moreover you
shall provide out of all the people able men, such as fear
God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over
them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds,
rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens:

talebearer reveals secrets: but he that is of a faithful

Wrong tolerance
Rom 1:32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that
they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only
do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
2 Th 2:10 And with all delusion of unrighteousness in
them that perish; because they received not the love of the
truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this cause
God shall send them strong delusion, that they should
believe a lie: 12 That they all might be damned who
believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
Rev 2:20 Notwithstanding I have a few things
against you, because you suffer that woman Jezebel, which
calls herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my
servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed
to idols.
Ps 50:16 But to the wicked God said,
What have you to do to declare my statutes, or that you
should take my covenant in your mouth? 17 Seeing you hate
instruction, and casts my words behind you. 18 When you
saw a thief, then you consented with him, and have been
partaker with adulterers.
Seducers of others
Mt 15:14 Let them alone: they be blind
leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both
shall fall into the ditch.
18:6 But whoever shall
offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were
better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck,
and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea. 7 Woe
to the world because of offenses! for it must needs be that
offenses come; but woe to that man by whom the offense
comes! 8 Why if your hand or your foot offend you, cut
them off, and cast them from you: it is better for you to
enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands
or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire. 9 And if
your eye offend you, pluck it out, and cast it from you: it
is better for you to enter into life with one eye, rather
than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire.

of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to
search it, is a land that eats up the inhabitants thereof;
and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great
stature. 33 And there we saw the giants, the sons of
Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight
as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.

Grumbling, murmuring
Rom 9:19 You will say then to me, Why does he yet
find fault? For who has resisted his will? 20 No but, O
man, who are you that reply against God? Shall the thing
formed say to him that formed it, Why have you made me thus?
1 Cor 10:9 Neither let us tempt Christ, as some
of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents. 10
Neither murmur you, as some of them also murmured, and were
destroyed of the destroyer. 11 Now all these things
happened to them for ensamples: and they are written for our
admonition, on whom the ends of the world are come.
Php 2:14 Do all things without murmurings and
disputings: 15 That you may be blameless and harmless,
the sons of God, without rebuke, in the middle of a crooked

Moses, and said, Why is this that you have brought us up out
of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our cattle with
thirst? 4 And Moses cried to the LORD, saying, What shall
I do to this people? they be almost ready to stone me.
Num 11:1 And when the people complained, it
displeased the LORD: and the LORD heard it; and his anger
was kindled; and the fire of the LORD burnt among them, and
consumed them that were in the uttermost parts of the camp.
2 And the people cried to Moses; and when Moses prayed to
the LORD, the fire was quenched. 3 And he called the name
of the place Taberah: because the fire of the LORD burnt
among them. 4 And the mixed multitude that was among them
fell a lusting: and the children of Israel also wept again,
and said, Who shall give us flesh to eat? 5 We remember
the fish, which we did eat in Egypt freely; the cucumbers,
and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the
garlic: 6 But now our soul is dried away: there is
nothing at all, beside this manna, before our eyes.
14:1 And all the congregation lifted up their voice, and
cried; and the people wept that night. 2 And all the
children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron:
and the whole congregation said to them, Would God that we
had died in the land of Egypt! or would God we had died in
this wilderness! 3 And why has the LORD brought us to
this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and our
children should be a prey? were it not better for us to
return into Egypt? 4 And they said one to another, Let us
make a captain, and let us return into Egypt. 5 Then
Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly
of the congregation of the children of Israel. 6 And
Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which
were of them that searched the land, rent their clothes:
7 And they spoke to all the company of the children of
Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to search
it, is an exceeding good land. 8 If the LORD delight in
us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a
land which flows with milk and honey. 9 Only rebel not
you against the LORD, neither fear you the people of the
land; for they are bread for us: their defense is departed
from them, and the LORD is with us: fear them not.
14:26 And the LORD spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,
27 How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, which
murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the
children of Israel, which they murmur against me. 28 Say
to them, As truly as I live, said the LORD, as you have
spoken in my ears, so will I do to you: 29 Your carcasses
shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of
you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old
and upward which have murmured against me. 30 Doubtless
you shall not come into the land, concerning which I swore
to make you dwell therein, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh,
and Joshua the son of Nun. 31 But your little ones, which
you said should be a prey, them will I bring in, and they
shall know the land which you have despised. 32 But as
for you, your carcasses, they shall fall in this wilderness.
14:36 And the men, which Moses sent to search the land,
who returned, and made all the congregation to murmur
against him, by bringing up a slander on the land, 37
Even those men that did bring up the evil report on the
land, died by the plague before the LORD.
16:1 Now
Korah, the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi,
and Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and On, the son of
Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men: 2 And they rose up
before Moses, with certain of the children of Israel, two
hundred and fifty princes of the assembly, famous in the
congregation, men of renown: 3 And they gathered
themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and
said to them, You take too much on you, seeing all the
congregation are holy, every one of them, and the LORD is
among them: why then lift you up yourselves above the
congregation of the LORD? 4 And when Moses heard it, he
fell on his face: 5 And he spoke to Korah and to all his
company, saying, Even to morrow the LORD will show who are
his, and who is holy; and will cause him to come near to
him: even him whom he has chosen will he cause to come near
to him. 6 This do; Take you censers, Korah, and all his
company; 7 And put fire therein, and put incense in them
before the LORD to morrow: and it shall be that the man whom
the LORD does choose, he shall be holy: you take too much on
you, you sons of Levi. 8 And Moses said to Korah, Hear, I
pray you, you sons of Levi: 9 Seems it but a small thing
to you, that the God of Israel has separated you from the
congregation of Israel, to bring you near to himself to do
the service of the tabernacle of the LORD, and to stand
before the congregation to minister to them? 10 And he
has brought you near to him, and all your brothers the sons
of Levi with you: and seek you the priesthood also? 11
For which cause both you and all your company are gathered
together against the LORD: and what is Aaron, that you
murmur against him? 12 And Moses sent to call Dathan and
Abiram, the sons of Eliab: which said, We will not come up:
13 Is it a small thing that you have brought us up out of a
land that flows with milk and honey, to kill us in the
wilderness, except you make yourself altogether a prince
over us? 14 Moreover you have not brought us into a land
that flows with milk and honey, or given us inheritance of
fields and vineyards: will you put out the eyes of these
men? we will not come up. 15 And Moses was very wroth,
and said to the LORD, Respect not you their offering: I have
not taken one ass from them, neither have I hurt one of
them.
17:1 And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 2
Speak to the children of Israel, and take of every one of
them a rod according to the house of their fathers, of all
their princes according to the house of their fathers twelve
rods: write you every man’s name on his rod. 3 And you
shall write Aaron’s name on the rod of Levi: for one rod
shall be for the head of the house of their fathers. 4
And you shall lay them up in the tabernacle of the
congregation before the testimony, where I will meet with
you. 5 And it shall come to pass, that the man’s rod,
whom I shall choose, shall blossom: and I will make to cease
from me the murmurings of the children of Israel, whereby
they murmur against you. 6 And Moses spoke to the
children of Israel, and every one of their princes gave him
a rod apiece, for each prince one, according to their
fathers’ houses, even twelve rods: and the rod of Aaron was
among their rods. 7 And Moses laid up the rods before the
LORD in the tabernacle of witness. 8 And it came to pass,
that on the morrow Moses went into the tabernacle of
witness; and, behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi
was budded, and brought forth buds, and bloomed blossoms,
and yielded almonds. 9 And Moses brought out all the rods
from before the LORD to all the children of Israel: and they
looked, and took every man his rod. 10 And the LORD said
to Moses, Bring Aaron’s rod again before the testimony, to
be kept for a token against the rebels; and you shall quite
take away their murmurings from me, that they die not. 11
And Moses did so: as the LORD commanded him, so did he.
12 And the children of Israel spoke to Moses, saying,
Behold, we die, we perish, we all perish. 13 Whoever
comes any thing near to the tabernacle of the LORD shall
die: shall we be consumed with dying?
20:2 And there
was no water for the congregation: and they gathered
themselves together against Moses and against Aaron. 3
And the people strived with Moses, and spoke, saying, Would
God that we had died when our brothers died before the LORD!
4 And why have you brought up the congregation of the LORD
into this wilderness, that we and our cattle should die
there? 5 And why have you made us to come up out of
Egypt, to bring us in to this evil place? it is no place of
seed, or of figs, or of vines, or of pomegranates; neither
is there any water to drink. 6 And Moses and Aaron went
from the presence of the assembly to the door of the
tabernacle of the congregation, and they fell on their
faces: and the glory of the LORD appeared to them.
20:23 And the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron in mount Hor, by
the coast of the land of Edom, saying, 24 Aaron shall be
gathered to his people: for he shall not enter into the land
which I have given to the children of Israel, because you
rebelled against my word at the water of Meribah. 25 Take
Aaron and Eleazar his son, and bring them up to mount Hor:
26 And strip Aaron of his garments, and put them on Eleazar
his son: and Aaron shall be gathered to his people, and
shall die there.
21:5 And the people spoke against
God, and against Moses, Why have you brought us up out of
Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread,
neither is there any water; and our soul loathes this light
bread. 6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the
people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel
died. 7 Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, We
have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD, and
against you; pray to the LORD, that he take away the
serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people. 8 And
the LORD said to Moses, Make you a fiery serpent, and set it
on a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is
bitten, when he looks on it, shall live. 9 And Moses made
a serpent of brass, and put it on a pole, and it came to
pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld
the serpent of brass, he lived.
Job 35:12
There they cry, but none gives answer, because of the pride
of evil men. 13 Surely God will not hear vanity, neither
will the Almighty regard it. 14 Although you say you
shall not see him, yet judgment is before him; therefore
trust you in him.
40:1 Moreover the LORD answered
Job, and said, 2 Shall he that contends with the Almighty
instruct him? he that reproves God, let him answer it. 3
Then Job answered the LORD, and said, 4 Behold, I am
vile; what shall I answer you? I will lay my hand on my
mouth. 5 Once have I spoken; but I will not answer: yes,
twice; but I will proceed no further.
40:6 Then
answered the LORD to Job out of the whirlwind, and said,
7 Gird up your loins now like a man: I will demand of you,
and declare you to me. 8 Will you also cancel my
judgment? will you condemn me, that you may be righteous?
Ps 78:40 How oft did they provoke him in the
wilderness, and grieve him in the desert! 41 Yes, they
turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of
Israel. 56 Yet they tempted and provoked the most high
God, and kept not his testimonies: 57 But turned back,
and dealt unfaithfully like their fathers: they were turned
aside like a deceitful bow.

And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had
bewitched them with sorceries. 12 But when they believed
Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God,
and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men
and women. 13 Then Simon himself believed also: and when
he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered,
beholding the miracles and signs which were done.
13:6 And when they had gone through the isle to Paphos, they
found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name
was Barjesus: 7 Which was with the deputy of the country,
Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and
Saul, and desired to hear the word of God. 8 But Elymas
the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation)
withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the
faith. 9 Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled
with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him. 10 And said, O
full of all subtlety and all mischief, you child of the
devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease to
pervert the right ways of the Lord? 11 And now, behold,
the hand of the Lord is on you, and you shall be blind, not
seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on
him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to
lead him by the hand. 12 Then the deputy, when he saw
what was done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of
the Lord.
16:16 And it came to pass, as we went to
prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of
divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by
soothsaying: 17 The same followed Paul and us, and cried,
saying, These men are the servants of the most high God,
which show to us the way of salvation. 18 And this did
she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to
the spirit, I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to
come out of her. And he came out the same hour. 19 And
when her masters saw that the hope of their gains was gone,
they caught Paul and Silas, and drew them into the
marketplace to the rulers,
19:18 And many that
believed came, and confessed, and showed their deeds. 19
Many of them also which used curious arts brought their
books together, and burned them before all men: and they
counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand
pieces of silver. 20 So mightily grew the word of God and
prevailed.
Gal 5:19 Now the works of the flesh
are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication,
uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft,
hatred, variance, jealousies, wrath, strife, seditions,
heresies, 21 Contentions, murders, drunkenness,
revelings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as
I have also told you in time past, that they which do such
things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

burden. 25 But that which you have already hold fast till
I come.
9:20 And the rest of the men which were not
killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of
their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols
of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood:
which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk: 21 Neither
repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor
of their fornication, nor of their thefts.
21:8 But
the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and
murderers, and fornicators, and sorcerers, and idolaters,
and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burns
with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they
may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through
the gates into the city. 15 For without are dogs, and
sorcerers, and fornicators, and murderers, and idolaters,
and whoever loves and makes a lie.
Ex 7:10 And
Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh, and they did so as the
LORD had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before
Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a serpent.
11 Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers:
now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner
with their enchantments. 12 For they cast down every man
his rod, and they became serpents: but Aaron’s rod swallowed
up their rods.
7:19 And the LORD spoke to Moses, Say
to Aaron, Take your rod, and stretch out your hand on the
waters of Egypt, on their streams, on their rivers, and on
their ponds, and on all their pools of water, that they may
become blood; and that there may be blood throughout all the
land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood, and in vessels of
stone. 20 And Moses and Aaron did so, as the LORD
commanded; and he lifted up the rod, and smote the waters
that were in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh, and in the
sight of his servants; and all the waters that were in the
river were turned to blood. 21 And the fish that was in
the river died; and the river stank, and the Egyptians could
not drink of the water of the river; and there was blood
throughout all the land of Egypt. 22 And the magicians of
Egypt did so with their enchantments: and Pharaoh’s heart
was hardened, neither did he listen to them; as the LORD had
said.
8:5 And the LORD spoke to Moses, Say to Aaron,
Stretch forth your hand with your rod over the streams, over
the rivers, and over the ponds, and cause frogs to come up
on the land of Egypt. 6 And Aaron stretched out his hand
over the waters of Egypt; and the frogs came up, and covered
the land of Egypt. 7 And the magicians did so with their
enchantments, and brought up frogs on the land of Egypt.
8:16 And the LORD said to Moses, Say to Aaron, Stretch
out your rod, and smite the dust of the land, that it may
become lice throughout all the land of Egypt. 17 And they
did so; for Aaron stretched out his hand with his rod, and
smote the dust of the earth, and it became lice in man, and
in beast; all the dust of the land became lice throughout
all the land of Egypt. 18 And the magicians did so with
their enchantments to bring forth lice, but they could not:
so there were lice on man, and on beast. 19 Then the
magicians said to Pharaoh, This is the finger of God: and
Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, and he listened not to them;
as the LORD had said.
22:18 You shall not suffer a
witch to live.
Lev 18:21 And you shall not let
any of your seed pass through the fire to Molech, neither
shall you profane the name of your God: I am the LORD.
19:26 You shall not eat any thing with the blood:
neither shall you use enchantment, nor observe times. 28
You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead,
nor print any marks on you: I am the LORD. 31 Regard not
them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards,

And the soul that turns after such as have familiar spirits,
and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even
set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from
among his people. 7 Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be
you holy: for I am the LORD your God.

is there any divination against Israel: according to this
time it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, What has God
worked!
De 13:1 If there arise among you a
prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and gives you a sign or a
wonder, 2 And the sign or the wonder come to pass,
whereof he spoke to you, saying, Let us go after other gods,
which you have not known, and let us serve them; 3 You
shall not listen to the words of that prophet, or that
dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proves you, to know
whether you love the LORD your God with all your heart and

14:1 You are the children of the
LORD your God: you shall not cut yourselves, nor make any

shall not be found among you any one that makes his son or
his daughter to pass through the fire, or that uses

of these abominations the LORD your God does drive them out

listened to observers of times, and to diviners: but as for
you, the LORD your God has not suffered you so to do.
26:14 I have not eaten thereof in my mourning, neither
have I taken away ought thereof for any unclean use, nor
given ought thereof for the dead: but I have listened to the
voice of the LORD my God, and have done according to all
that you have commanded me.
1 Sam 28:3 Now
Samuel was dead, and all Israel had lamented him, and buried
him in Ramah, even in his own city. And Saul had put away
those that had familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the
land. 4 And the Philistines gathered themselves together,
and came and pitched in Shunem: and Saul gathered all Israel
together, and they pitched in Gilboa. 5 And when Saul saw
the host of the Philistines, he was afraid, and his heart
greatly trembled. 6 And when Saul inquired of the LORD,
the LORD answered him not, neither by dreams, nor by Urim,
nor by prophets. 7 Then said Saul to his servants, Seek
me a woman that has a familiar spirit, that I may go to her,
and inquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold,
there is a woman that has a familiar spirit at Endor. 8
And Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and he
went, and two men with him, and they came to the woman by
night: and he said, I pray you, divine to me by the familiar
spirit, and bring me him up, whom I shall name to you. 9
And the woman said to him, Behold, you know what Saul has
done, how he has cut off those that have familiar spirits,
and the wizards, out of the land: why then lay you a snare
for my life, to cause me to die? 10 And Saul swore to her
by the LORD, saying, As the LORD lives, there shall no
punishment happen to you for this thing. 11 Then said the
woman, Whom shall I bring up to you? And he said, Bring me
up Samuel. 12 And when the woman saw Samuel, she cried
with a loud voice: and the woman spoke to Saul, saying, Why
have you deceived me? for you are Saul. 13 And the king
said to her, Be not afraid: for what saw you? And the woman
said to Saul, I saw gods ascending out of the earth. 14
And he said to her, What form is he of? And she said, An old
man comes up; and he is covered with a mantle. And Saul
perceived that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face
to the ground, and bowed himself. 15 And Samuel said to
Saul, Why have you disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul
answered, I am sore distressed; for the Philistines make war
against me, and God is departed from me, and answers me no
more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have
called you, that you may make known to me what I shall do.
16 Then said Samuel, Why then do you ask of me, seeing the
LORD is departed from you, and is become your enemy?
1 Ki 18:28 And they cried aloud, and cut themselves
after their manner with knives and lancets, till the blood
gushed out on them. 29 And it came to pass, when midday
was past, and they prophesied until the time of the offering
of the evening sacrifice, that there was neither voice, nor
any to answer, nor any that regarded.

for his transgression which he committed against the LORD,

also for asking counsel of one that had a familiar spirit,
to inquire of it; 14 And inquired not of the LORD:
therefore he slew him, and turned the kingdom to David the
son of Jesse.

Ps 58:4 Their poison is like the poison of a
serpent: they are like the deaf adder that stops her ear;
5 Which will not listen to the voice of charmers, charming
never so wisely.
Isa 2:6 Therefore you have forsaken
your people the house of Jacob, because they be replenished
from the east, and are soothsayers like the Philistines, and
they please themselves in the children of strangers.
8:19 And when they shall say to you, Seek to them that have
familiar spirits, and to wizards that peep, and that mutter:
should not a people seek to their God? for the living to the
dead?
19:3 And the spirit of Egypt shall fail in the
middle thereof; and I will destroy the counsel thereof: and
they shall seek to the idols, and to the charmers, and to
them that have familiar spirits, and to the wizards.
29:4 And you shall be brought down, and shall speak out of

as stubble; the fire shall burn them; they shall not deliver

32:34 But they set their abominations in the house,
which is called by my name, to defile it. 35 And they
built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley of
the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters
to pass through the fire to Molech; which I commanded them
not, neither came it into my mind, that they should do this
abomination, to cause Judah to sin.

For the king of Babylon stood at the parting of the way, at
the head of the two ways, to use divination: he made his
arrows bright, he consulted with images, he looked in the
liver. 22 At his right hand was the divination for
Jerusalem, to appoint captains, to open the mouth in the
slaughter, to lift up the voice with shouting, to appoint
battering rams against the gates, to cast a mount, and to
build a fort. 23 And it shall be to them as a false
divination in their sight, to them that have sworn oaths:
but he will call to remembrance the iniquity, that they may
be taken.
Dan 1:19 And the king communed with
them; and among them all was found none like Daniel,
Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: therefore stood they before
the king. 20 And in all matters of wisdom and
understanding, that the king inquired of them, he found them
ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers that
were in all his realm.

the reign of Nebuchadnezzar Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams,
with which his spirit was troubled, and his sleep broke from
him. 2 Then the king commanded to call the magicians, and
the astrologers, and the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans, for
to show the king his dreams. So they came and stood before
the king.
Nah 3:4 Because of the multitude of
the prostitutions of the well favored harlot, the mistress
of witchcrafts, that sells nations through her
prostitutions, and families through her witchcrafts.
Hardness
Mr 3:5 And
when he had looked round about on them with anger, being
grieved for the hardness of their hearts, he said to the
man, Stretch forth your hand. And he stretched it out: and
his hand was restored whole as the other.

12:39 Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias
said again, 40 He has blinded their eyes, and hardened
their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor
understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should
heal them.
Acts 19:8 And he went into the
synagogue, and spoke boldly for the space of three months,
disputing and persuading the things concerning the kingdom
of God. 9 But when divers were hardened, and believed
not, but spoke evil of that way before the multitude, he
departed from them, and separated the disciples, disputing

For the scripture said to Pharaoh, Even for this same
purpose have I raised you up, that I might show my power in
you, and that my name might be declared throughout all the
earth. 18 Therefore has he mercy on whom he will have
mercy, and whom he will he hardens.
11:25 For I would
not, brothers, that you should be ignorant of this mystery,
lest you should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness
in part is happened to Israel, until the fullness of the
Gentiles be come in. 26 And so all Israel shall be saved:
as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the
Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:
2 Cor 3:14 But their minds were blinded: for
until this day remains the same veil not taken away in the
reading of the old testament; which veil is done away in
Christ. 15 But even to this day, when Moses is read, the
veil is on their heart. 16 Nevertheless when it shall
turn to the Lord, the veil shall be taken away. 17 Now
the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord
is, there is liberty.
Eph 4:17 This I say
therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you from now on
walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their

alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is

neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall among
them that fall: at the time that I visit them they shall be
cast down, said the LORD. 16 Thus said the LORD, Stand
you in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where
is the good way, and walk therein, and you shall find rest
for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.
17 Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Listen to the sound
of the trumpet. But they said, We will not listen.
6:27 I have set you for a tower and a fortress among my
people, that you may know and try their way. 28 They are
all grievous rebels, walking with slanders: they are brass
and iron; they are all corrupters.
7:24 But they
listened not, nor inclined their ear, but walked in the
counsels and in the imagination of their evil heart, and
went backward, and not forward.

3:7 But the house of
Israel will not listen to you; for they will not listen to
me: for all the house of Israel are impudent and
hardhearted.

corrupted themselves, as in the days of Gibeah: therefore he
will remember their iniquity, he will visit their sins.
Zep 1:12 And it shall come to pass at that time,
that I will search Jerusalem with candles, and punish the

nations: their towers are desolate; I made their streets
waste, that none passes by: their cities are destroyed, so
that there is no man, that there is none inhabitant. 7 I
said, Surely you will fear me, you will receive instruction;
so their dwelling should not be cut off, howsoever I
punished them: but they rose early, and corrupted all their
doings.
Zec 7:11 But they refused to listen,
and pulled away the shoulder, and stopped their ears, that
they should not hear. 12 Yes, they made their hearts as
an adamant stone, lest they should hear the law, and the
words which the LORD of hosts has sent in his spirit by the
former prophets: therefore came a great wrath from the LORD
of hosts.
Meekness
Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy,
peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23
Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
6:1 Brothers, if a man be overtaken in a fault, you which
are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of
meekness; considering yourself, lest you also be tempted.
Eph 4:1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord,
beseech you that you walk worthy of the vocation with which
you are called, 2 With all lowliness and meekness, with
long-suffering, forbearing one another in love; 3
Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of
peace.
Php 4:5 Let your moderation be known to
all men. The Lord is at hand.

were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherishes her

blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good

Tit 1:7 For a bishop must be
blameless, as the steward of God; not self-willed, not soon
angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy

Jas 3:13 Who is a wise man and endued with

1 Pe 3:4 But
let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not
corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit,
which is in the sight of God of great price.

his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the
judgment: and whoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall
be in danger of the council: but whoever shall say, You
fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

2 Sam 12:5 And David’s anger

to see whether Mordecai’s matters would stand: for he had

full of wrath. 6 And he thought scorn to lay hands on
Mordecai alone; for they had showed him the people of
Mordecai: why Haman sought to destroy all the Jews that were
throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, even the people
of Mordecai.

wait patiently for him: fret not yourself because of him who
prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked
