LIE, PRETENCE, DECEPTION
Joh 8:44 You are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your
father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and stayed not in
the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks
of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
45 And because I tell you the truth, you believe me not.
Acts 13:9 Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy
Ghost, set his eyes on him.
10 And said, O full of all subtlety and all mischief, you child of the devil,
you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease to pervert the right ways
of the Lord?
Rom 3:13 Their throat is an open sepulcher; with their tongues they
have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:
16:17 Now I beseech you, brothers, mark them which cause divisions and
offenses contrary to the doctrine which you have learned; and avoid them.
18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own
belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.
2 Cor 4:1 Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received
mercy, we faint not;
2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in
craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation
of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of
God.
11:13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming
themselves into the apostles of Christ.
14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as
the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
Eph 4:25 Why putting away lying, speak every man truth with his
neighbor: for we are members one of another.
1 Th 2:3 For our exhortation was not of deceit, nor of uncleanness,
nor in guile:
1 Pe 2:1 Why laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies,
and envies, all evil speakings,
2:21 For even hereunto were you called: because Christ also suffered for us,
leaving us an example, that you should follow his steps:
22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
3:10 For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his
tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:
Rev 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and
murderers, and fornicators, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars,
shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone: which
is the second death.
27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defiles, neither
whatever works abomination, or makes a lie: but they which are written in
the Lamb’s book of life.
22:15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and fornicators, and murderers,
and idolaters, and whoever loves and makes a lie.
Gen 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field
which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, Yes, has God said,
You shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
2 And the woman said to the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of
the garden:
3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has
said, You shall not eat of it, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.
4 And the serpent said to the woman, You shall not surely die:
5 For God does know that in the day you eat thereof, then your eyes shall be
opened, and you shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
Ex 20:16 You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
23:1 You shall not raise a false report: put not your hand with the wicked
to be an unrighteous witness.
Lev 19:11 You shall not steal, neither deal falsely, neither lie one
to another.
Job 27:3 All the while my breath is in me, and the spirit of God is
in my nostrils;
4 My lips shall not speak wickedness, nor my tongue utter deceit.
Ps 5:6 You shall destroy them that speak leasing: the LORD will abhor
the bloody and deceitful man.
9 For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very
wickedness; their throat is an open sepulcher; they flatter with their
tongue.
12:2 They speak vanity every one with his neighbor: with flattering lips and
with a double heart do they speak.
3 The LORD shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaks
proud things:
4 Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who
is lord over us?
28:3 Draw me not away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity,
which speak peace to their neighbors, but mischief is in their hearts.
35:20 For they speak not peace: but they devise deceitful matters against
them that are quiet in the land.
38:12 They also that seek after my life lay snares for me: and they that
seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and imagine deceits all the day long.
43:1 Judge me, O God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation: O
deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man.
52:1 Why boast you yourself in mischief, O mighty man? the goodness of God
endures continually.
2 The tongue devises mischiefs; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.
3 You love evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness.
Selah.
4 You love all devouring words, O you deceitful tongue.
55:20 He has put forth his hands against such as be at peace with him: he
has broken his covenant.
21 The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his
heart: his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords.
62:4 They only consult to cast him down from his excellency: they delight in
lies: they bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah.
120:2 Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue.
3 What shall be given to you? or what shall be done to you, you false tongue?
144:7 Send your hand from above; rid me, and deliver me out of great waters,
from the hand of strange children;
8 Whose mouth speaks vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of
falsehood.
Pr 6:12 A naughty person, a wicked man, walks with a fraudulent mouth.
13 He winks with his eyes, he speaks with his feet, he teaches with his
fingers;
14 Frowardness is in his heart, he devises mischief continually; he sows
discord.
10:18 He that hides hatred with lying lips, and he that utters a slander, is
a fool.
11:3 The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of
transgressors shall destroy them.
12:2 A good man obtains favor of the LORD: but a man of wicked devices will
he condemn.
3 A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the
righteous shall not be moved.
12:17 He that speaks truth shows forth righteousness: but a false witness
deceit.
12:19 The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is
but for a moment.
20 Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counsellors
of peace is joy.
12:22 Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are
his delight.
13:5 A righteous man hates lying: but a wicked man is loathsome, and comes
to shame.
14:13 Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that mirth is
heaviness.
14:25 A true witness delivers souls: but a deceitful witness speaks lies.
16:27 An ungodly man digs up evil: and in his lips there is as a burning
fire.
28 A fraudulent man sows strife: and a whisperer separates chief friends.
16:30 He shuts his eyes to devise fraudulent things: moving his lips he
brings evil to pass.
17:7 Excellent speech becomes not a fool: much less do lying lips a prince.
18:19 A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city: and their
contentions are like the bars of a castle.
19:5 A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaks lies shall
not escape.
9 A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaks lies shall
perish.
19:22 The desire of a man is his kindness: and a poor man is better than a
liar.
20:17 Bread of deceit is sweet to a man; but afterwards his mouth shall be
filled with gravel.
21:6 The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and
fro of them that seek death.
23:6 Eat you not the bread of him that has an evil eye, neither desire you
his dainty meats:
7 For as he thinks in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, said he to you;
but his heart is not with you.
8 The morsel which you have eaten shall you vomit up, and lose your sweet
words.
24:8 He that devises to do evil shall be called a mischievous person.
24:28 Be not a witness against your neighbor without cause; and deceive not
with your lips.
26:18 As a mad man who casts firebrands, arrows, and death,
19 So is the man that deceives his neighbor, and said, Am not I in sport?
26:23 Burning lips and a wicked heart are like a potsherd covered with
silver dross.
26:24 He that hates dissembles with his lips, and lays up deceit within him;
25 When he speaks fair, believe him not: for there are seven abominations in
his heart.
26 Whose hatred is covered by deceit, his wickedness shall be showed before
the whole congregation.
26:27 Whoever digs a pit shall fall therein: and he that rolls a stone, it
will return on him.
28 A lying tongue hates those that are afflicted by it; and a flattering
mouth works ruin.
27:6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are
deceitful.
29:5 A man that flatters his neighbor spreads a net for his feet.
30:8 Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches;
feed me with food convenient for me:
Isa 59:3 For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with
iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue has muttered perverseness.
4 None calls for justice, nor any pleads for truth: they trust in vanity,
and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.
Jer 9:3 And they bend their tongues like their bow for lies: but they are
not valiant for the truth on the earth; for they proceed from evil to evil,
and they know not me, said the LORD.
4 Take you heed every one of his neighbor, and trust you not in any brother:
for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbor will walk with
slanders.
5 And they will deceive every one his neighbor, and will not speak the truth:
they have taught their tongue to speak lies, and weary themselves to commit
iniquity.
6 Your habitation is in the middle of deceit; through deceit they refuse to
know me, said the LORD.
7 Therefore thus said the LORD of hosts, Behold, I will melt them, and try
them; for how shall I do for the daughter of my people?
8 Their tongue is as an arrow shot out; it speaks deceit: one speaks
peaceably to his neighbor with his mouth, but in heart he lays his wait.
9 Shall I not visit them for these things? said the LORD: shall not my soul
be avenged on such a nation as this?
Dan 8:25 And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper
in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall
destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he
shall be broken without hand.
Mic 6:10 Are there yet the treasures of wickedness in the house of
the wicked, and the scant measure that is abominable?
11 Shall I count them pure with the wicked balances, and with the bag of
deceitful weights?
12 For the rich men thereof are full of violence, and the inhabitants
thereof have spoken lies, and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth.
Nah 3:1 Woe to the bloody city! it is all full of lies and robbery;
the prey departs not;
Zep 3:13 The remnant of Israel shall not do iniquity, nor speak lies;
neither shall a deceitful tongue be found in their mouth: for they shall
feed and lie down, and none shall make them afraid.
Zec 8:16 These are the things that you shall do; Speak you every man
the truth to his neighbor; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your
gates:
17 And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbor; and
love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate, said the LORD.
