THE CIRCUMCISION OF THE HEART
Mt 3:7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to
his baptism, he said to them, O generation of vipers, who has warned you to
flee from the wrath to come?
8 Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:
9 And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for
I say to you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children to
Abraham.
10 And now also the ax is laid to the root of the trees: therefore every
tree which brings not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
Acts 7:51 You stiff necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, you
do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do you.
Rom 2:25 For circumcision truly profits, if you keep the law: but if
you be a breaker of the law, your circumcision is made uncircumcision.
26 Therefore if the uncircumcision keep the righteousness of the law, shall
not his uncircumcision be counted for circumcision?
27 And shall not uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfill the law,
judge you, who by the letter and circumcision do transgress the law?
28 For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision,
which is outward in the flesh:
29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the
heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but
of God.
3:1 What advantage then has the Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision?
2 Much every way: chiefly, because that to them were committed the oracles
of God.
3:29 Is he the God of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of
the Gentiles also:
30 Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and
uncircumcision through faith.
31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yes, we establish
the law.
4:9 Comes this blessedness then on the circumcision only, or on the
uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for
righteousness.
10 How was it then reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in
uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision.
11 And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of
the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father
of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness
might be imputed to them also:
12 And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision
only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham,
which he had being yet uncircumcised.
13 For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to
Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of
faith.
9:6 Not as though the word of God has taken none effect. For they are not
all Israel, which are of Israel:
7 Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but,
In Isaac shall your seed be called.
8 That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the
children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.
9 For this is the word of promise, At this time will I come, and Sarah shall
have a son.
10 And not only this; but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, even by
our father Isaac;
15:8 Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the
truth of God, to confirm the promises made to the fathers:
1 Cor 7:17 But as God has distributed to every man, as the Lord has
called every one, so let him walk. And so ordain I in all churches.
18 Is any man called being circumcised? let him not become uncircumcised. Is
any called in uncircumcision? let him not be circumcised.
19 Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping
of the commandments of God.
Gal 2:3 But neither Titus, who was with me, being a Greek, was
compelled to be circumcised:
5:2 Behold, I Paul say to you, that if you be circumcised, Christ shall
profit you nothing.
3 For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor
to do the whole law.
4 Christ is become of no effect to you, whoever of you are justified by the
law; you are fallen from grace.
5 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.
6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision avails any thing, nor
uncircumcision; but faith which works by love.
6:11 You see how large a letter I have written to you with my own hand.
12 As many as desire to make a fair show in the flesh, they constrain you to
be circumcised; only lest they should suffer persecution for the cross of
Christ.
13 For neither they themselves who are circumcised keep the law; but desire
to have you circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh.
6:15 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision avails any thing, nor
uncircumcision, but a new creature.
16 And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy,
and on the Israel of God.
Php 3:2 Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the
concision.
3 For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice
in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.
4 Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinks
that he has whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more:
5 Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of
Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee;
6 Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which
is in the law, blameless.
7 But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.
Col 2:11 In whom also you are circumcised with the circumcision made
without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the
circumcision of Christ:
3:11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision,
Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.
Ex 4:24 And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that the LORD met
him, and sought to kill him.
25 Then Zipporah took a sharp stone, and cut off the foreskin of her son,
and cast it at his feet, and said, Surely a bloody husband are you to me.
26 So he let him go: then she said, A bloody husband you are, because of the
circumcision.
De 10:15 Only the LORD had a delight in your fathers to love them,
and he chose their seed after them, even you above all people, as it is this
day.
16 Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiff
necked.
17 For the LORD your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a
mighty, and a terrible, which regards not persons, nor takes reward:
30:5 And the LORD your God will bring you into the land which your fathers
possessed, and you shall possess it; and he will do you good, and multiply
you above your fathers.
6 And the LORD your God will circumcise your heart, and the heart of your
seed, to love the LORD your God with all your heart, and with all your soul,
that you may live.
Jer 4:4 Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and take away the
foreskins of your heart, you men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: lest
my fury come forth like fire, and burn that none can quench it, because of
the evil of your doings.
6:10 To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? behold,
their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot listen: behold, the word of the
LORD is to them a reproach; they have no delight in it.
9:25 Behold, the days come, said the LORD, that I will punish all them which
are circumcised with the uncircumcised;
26 Egypt, and Judah, and Edom, and the children of Ammon, and Moab, and all
that are in the utmost corners, that dwell in the wilderness: for all these
nations are uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel are uncircumcised in
the heart.
