Mr 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name
shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall
not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
19 So then after the Lord had spoken to them, he was received up into heaven,
and sat on the right hand of God.
20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them,
and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.
Acts 2:1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all
with one accord in one place.
2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind,
and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3 And there appeared to them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat on
each of them.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with
other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation
under heaven.
6 Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were
confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.
7 And they were all amazed and marveled, saying one to another, Behold, are
not all these which speak Galilaeans?
8 And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?
9 Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and
in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,
10 Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene,
and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,
11 Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful
works of God.
12 And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What
means this?
13 Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.
10:44 While Peter yet spoke these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them
which heard the word.
45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as
came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift
of the Holy Ghost.
46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered
Peter,
47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have
received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed
they him to tarry certain days.
14:3 Long time therefore stayed they speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave
testimony to the word of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done
by their hands.
19:6 And when Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Ghost came on them;
and they spoke with tongues, and prophesied.
21:8 And the next day we that were of Paul’s company departed, and came to
Caesarea: and we entered into the house of Philip the evangelist, which was
one of the seven; and stayed with him.
9 And the same man had four daughters, virgins, which did prophesy.
10 And as we tarried there many days, there came down from Judaea a certain
prophet, named Agabus.
11 And when he was come to us, he took Paul’s girdle, and bound his own
hands and feet, and said, Thus said the Holy Ghost, So shall the Jews at
Jerusalem bind the man that ownes this girdle, and shall deliver him into
the hands of the Gentiles.
Rom 1:11 For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some
spiritual gift, to the end you may be established;
12 That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith
both of you and me.
11:29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.
12:6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us,
whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;
7 Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teaches, on
teaching;
8 Or he that exhorts, on exhortation: he that gives, let him do it with
simplicity; he that rules, with diligence; he that shows mercy, with
cheerfulness.
15:17 I have therefore whereof I may glory through Jesus Christ in those
things which pertain to God.
18 For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ has not
worked by me, to make the Gentiles obedient, by word and deed,
19 Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so
that from Jerusalem, and round about to Illyricum, I have fully preached the
gospel of Christ.
1 Cor 1:7 So that you come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming
of our Lord Jesus Christ:
12:1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brothers, I would not have you ignorant.
4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.
6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which
works all in all.
7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit with.
8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word
of knowledge by the same Spirit;
9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by
the same Spirit;
10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another
discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the
interpretation of tongues:
11 But all these works that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every
man severally as he will.
12:27 Now you are the body of Christ, and members in particular.
28 And God has set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets,
thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps,
governments, diversities of tongues.
29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of
miracles?
30 Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all
interpret?
31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet show I to you a more
excellent way.
13:1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not
charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and
all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains,
and have not charity, I am nothing.
8 Charity never fails: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail;
whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it
shall vanish away.
9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
14:1 Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that you
may prophesy.
2 For he that speaks in an unknown tongue speaks not to men, but to God: for
no man understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries.
3 But he that prophesies speaks to men to edification, and exhortation, and
comfort.
4 He that speaks in an unknown tongue edifies himself; but he that
prophesies edifies the church.
5 I would that you all spoke with tongues but rather that you prophesied:
for greater is he that prophesies than he that speaks with tongues, except
he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.
6 Now, brothers, if I come to you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit
you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or
by prophesying, or by doctrine?
7 And even things without life giving sound, whether pipe or harp, except
they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped
or harped?
8 For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to
the battle?
9 So likewise you, except you utter by the tongue words easy to be
understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for you shall speak into
the air.
10 There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of
them is without signification.
11 Therefore if I know not the meaning of the voice, I shall be to him that
speaks a barbarian, and he that speaks shall be a barbarian to me.
14:12 Even so you, for as much as you are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek
that you may excel to the edifying of the church.
13 Why let him that speaks in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret.
14 For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding
is unfruitful.
15 What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the
understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the
understanding also.
16 Else when you shall bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupies the
room of the unlearned say Amen at your giving of thanks, seeing he
understands not what you say?
17 For you truly give thanks well, but the other is not edified.
18 I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than you all:
19 Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding,
that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an
unknown tongue.
20 Brothers, be not children in understanding: however, in malice be you
children, but in understanding be men.
21 In the law it is written, With men of other tongues and other lips will I
speak to this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, said the
LORD.
22 Why tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that
believe not: but prophesying serves not for them that believe not, but for
them which believe.
23 If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all
speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or
unbelievers, will they not say that you are mad?
24 But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believes not, or one
unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all:
25 And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down
on his face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth.
14:26 How is it then, brothers? when you come together, every one of you has
a psalm, has a doctrine, has a tongue, has a revelation, has an
interpretation. Let all things be done to edifying.
27 If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most
by three, and that by course; and let one interpret.
28 But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and
let him speak to himself, and to God.
29 Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.
30 If any thing be revealed to another that sits by, let the first hold his
peace.
31 For you may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be
comforted.
32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.
33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches
of the saints.
14:39 Why, brothers, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.
40 Let all things be done decently and in order.
1 Th 5:19 Quench not the Spirit.
20 Despise not prophesyings.
21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
1 Tim 4:14 Neglect not the gift that is in you, which was given you
by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.
2 Tim 1:6 Why I put you in remembrance that you stir up the gift of
God, which is in you by the putting on of my hands.
7 For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love,
and of a sound mind.
Heb 2:4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders,
and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own
will?
1 Pe 4:10 As every man has received the gift, even so minister the
same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
11 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man
minister, let him do it as of the ability which God gives: that God in all
things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion
for ever and ever. Amen.
2 Pe 1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of
any private interpretation.
21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of
God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
Lam 2:9 Her gates are sunk into the ground; he has destroyed and
broken her bars: her king and her princes are among the Gentiles: the law is
no more; her prophets also find no vision from the LORD.
Hos 12:10 I have also spoken by the prophets, and I have multiplied
visions, and used similitudes, by the ministry of the prophets.
Joel 2:28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out
my spirit on all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:
29 And also on the servants and on the handmaids in those days will I pour
out my spirit.
