PREACHING
Mt 4:23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and
preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and
all manner of disease among the people.
24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for
a witness to all nations; and then shall the end come.
28:19 Go you therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of
the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatever I have commanded you: and,
see, I am with you always, even to the end of the world. Amen.
Mr 3:14 And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he
might send them forth to preach,
15 And to have power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out devils:
5:19 However, Jesus suffered him not, but said to him, Go home to your
friends, and tell them how great things the Lord has done for you, and has
had compassion on you.
20 And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus
had done for him: and all men did marvel.
6:7 And he called to him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and
two; and gave them power over unclean spirits;
12 And they went out, and preached that men should repent.
13 And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick,
and healed them.
16:15 And he said to them, Go you into all the world, and preach the gospel
to every creature.
16 He that believes and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believes not
shall be damned.
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they
cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall
not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
19 So then after the Lord had spoken to them, he was received up into heaven,
and sat on the right hand of God.
20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them,
and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.
Lu 3:18 And many other things in his exhortation preached he to the people.
4:43 And he said to them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities
also: for therefore am I sent.
44 And he preached in the synagogues of Galilee.
7:22 Then Jesus answering said to them, Go your way, and tell John what
things you have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the
lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the
gospel is preached.
23 And blessed is he, whoever shall not be offended in me.
8:1 And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and
village, preaching and showing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God: and
the twelve were with him,
9:1 Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and
authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.
2 And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.
6 And they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and
healing every where.
16:16 The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom
of God is preached, and every man presses into it.
24:46 And said to them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to
suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name
among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
Joh 1:40 One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him, was
Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother.
41 He first finds his own brother Simon, and said to him, We have found the
Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.
44 Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.
45 Philip finds Nathanael, and said to him, We have found him, of whom Moses
in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of
Joseph.
46 And Nathanael said to him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth?
Philip said to him, Come and see.
Acts 1:8 But you shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come on
you: and you shall be witnesses to me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea,
and in Samaria, and to the uttermost part of the earth.
6:2 Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples to them, and said,
It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.
3 Why, brothers, look you out among you seven men of honest report, full of
the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.
4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of
the word.
8:4 Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the
word.
5 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ to them.
6 And the people with one accord gave heed to those things which Philip
spoke, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.
7 For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were
possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were
healed.
8 And there was great joy in that city.
8:34 And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray you, of whom speaks
the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?
35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and
preached to him Jesus.
9:15 But the Lord said to him, Go your way: for he is a chosen vessel to me,
to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:
16 For I will show him how great things he must suffer for my name’s sake.
20 And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son
of God.
27 But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and declared to
them how he had seen the Lord in the way, and that he had spoken to him, and
how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus.
28 And he was with them coming in and going out at Jerusalem.
10:40 Him God raised up the third day, and showed him openly;
41 Not to all the people, but to witnesses chosen before God, even to us,
who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead.
42 And he commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that it is he
which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.
43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whoever
believes in him shall receive remission of sins.
44 While Peter yet spoke these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which
heard the word.
11:19 Now they which were scattered abroad on the persecution that arose
about Stephen traveled as far as Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching
the word to none but to the Jews only.
20 And some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene, which, when they were
come to Antioch, spoke to the Grecians, preaching the LORD Jesus.
14:25 And when they had preached the word in Perga, they went down into
Attalia:
15:35 Paul also and Barnabas continued in Antioch, teaching and preaching
the word of the Lord, with many others also.
16:16 And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed
with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by
soothsaying:
17 The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the
servants of the most high God, which show to us the way of salvation.
18:24 And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man,
and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus.
25 This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the
spirit, he spoke and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only
the baptism of John.
19:8 And he went into the synagogue, and spoke boldly for the space of three
months, disputing and persuading the things concerning the kingdom of God.
9 But when divers were hardened, and believed not, but spoke evil of that
way before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples,
disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus.
10 And this continued by the space of two years; so that all they which
dwelled in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.
20:20 And how I kept back nothing that was profitable to you, but have
showed you, and have taught you publicly, and from house to house,
21 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward
God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.
20:24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear to
myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I
have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.
25 And now, behold, I know that you all, among whom I have gone preaching
the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more.
26 Why I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all
men.
27 For I have not shunned to declare to you all the counsel of God.
28 Take heed therefore to yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which
the Holy Ghost has made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he
has purchased with his own blood.
31 Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased
not to warn every one night and day with tears.
26:17 Delivering you from the people, and from the Gentiles, to whom now I
send you,
18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the
power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and
inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.
28:30 And Paul dwelled two whole years in his own hired house, and received
all that came in to him,
31 Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the
Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.
Rom 1:1 Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated
to the gospel of God,
9 For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his
Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers;
10 Making request, if by any means now at length I might have a prosperous
journey by the will of God to come to you.
1:13 Now I would not have you ignorant, brothers, that oftentimes I purposed
to come to you, (but was let till now,) that I might have some fruit among
you also, even as among other Gentiles.
14 I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise,
and to the unwise.
15 So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are
at Rome also.
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God
to salvation to every one that believes; to the Jew first, and also to the
Greek.
10:14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and
how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall
they hear without a preacher?
15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How
beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring
glad tidings of good things!
16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias said, Lord, who has
believed our report?
17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
18 But I say, Have they not heard? Yes truly, their sound went into all the
earth, and their words to the ends of the world.
15:17 I have therefore whereof I may glory through Jesus Christ in those
things which pertain to God.
18 For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ has not
worked by me, to make the Gentiles obedient, by word and deed,
19 Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so
that from Jerusalem, and round about to Illyricum, I have fully preached the
gospel of Christ.
20 Yes, so have I strived to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named,
lest I should build on another man’s foundation:
21 But as it is written, To whom he was not spoken of, they shall see: and
they that have not heard shall understand.
22 For which cause also I have been much hindered from coming to you.
1 Cor 1:17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not
with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.
18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but to
us which are saved it is the power of God.
21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it
pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:
23 But we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block, and to the
Greeks foolishness;
2:1 And I, brothers, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech
or of wisdom, declaring to you the testimony of God.
2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and
him crucified.
3 And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.
4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom,
but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of
God.
3:5 Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom you believed,
even as the Lord gave to every man?
6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.
7 So then neither is he that plants any thing, neither he that waters; but
God that gives the increase.
8 Now he that plants and he that waters are one: and every man shall receive
his own reward according to his own labor.
9 For we are laborers together with God: you are God’s husbandry, you are
God’s building.
10 According to the grace of God which is given to me, as a wise master
builder, I have laid the foundation, and another builds thereon. But let
every man take heed how he builds thereupon.
11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus
Christ.
9:14 Even so has the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should
live of the gospel.
15 But I have used none of these things: neither have I written these things,
that it should be so done to me: for it were better for me to die, than that
any man should make my glorying void.
16 For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity
is laid on me; yes, woe is to me, if I preach not the gospel!
17 For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will,
a dispensation of the gospel is committed to me.
18 What is my reward then? Truly that, when I preach the gospel, I may make
the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the
gospel.
15:10 But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was
bestowed on me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all:
yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.
11 Therefore whether it were I or they, so we preach, and so you believed.
15:34 Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge
of God: I speak this to your shame.
2 Cor 1:18 But as God is true, our word toward you was not yes and no.
19 For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, even
by me and Silvanus and Timotheus, was not yes and no, but in him was yes.
2:12 Furthermore, when I came to Troas to preach Christ’s gospel, and a door
was opened to me of the Lord,
13 I had no rest in my spirit, because I found not Titus my brother: but
taking my leave of them, I went from there into Macedonia.
2:17 For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of
sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.
4:1 Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we
faint not;
2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in
craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation
of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of
God.
3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
4 In whom the god of this world has blinded the minds of them which believe
not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of
God, should shine to them.
5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your
servants for Jesus’ sake.
10:13 But we will not boast of things without our measure, but according to
the measure of the rule which God has distributed to us, a measure to reach
even to you.
14 For we stretch not ourselves beyond our measure, as though we reached not
to you: for we are come as far as to you also in preaching the gospel of
Christ:
15 Not boasting of things without our measure, that is, of other men’s
labors; but having hope, when your faith is increased, that we shall be
enlarged by you according to our rule abundantly,
16 To preach the gospel in the regions beyond you, and not to boast in
another man’s line of things made ready to our hand.
Gal 1:15 But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb,
and called me by his grace,
16 To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen;
immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:
1:21 Afterwards I came into the regions of Syria and Cilicia;
22 And was unknown by face to the churches of Judaea which were in Christ:
23 But they had heard only, That he which persecuted us in times past now
preaches the faith which once he destroyed.
24 And they glorified God in me.
2:1 Then fourteen years after I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas,
and took Titus with me also.
2 And I went up by revelation, and communicated to them that gospel which I
preach among the Gentiles, but privately to them which were of reputation,
lest by any means I should run, or had run, in vain.
7 But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was
committed to me, as the gospel of the circumcision was to Peter;
8 (For he that worked effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the
circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:)
9 And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the
grace that was given to me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of
fellowship; that we should go to the heathen, and they to the circumcision.
Eph 3:6 That the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, and of the same body, and
partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:
7 Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God
given to me by the effectual working of his power.
8 To me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that
I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ;
9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from
the beginning of the world has been hid in God, who created all things by
Jesus Christ:
10 To the intent that now to the principalities and powers in heavenly
places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God,
6:14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on
the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is
the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and
watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
19 And for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth
boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,
20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly,
as I ought to speak.
Php 1:14 And many of the brothers in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds,
are much more bold to speak the word without fear.
15 Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good
will:
16 The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add
affliction to my bonds:
17 But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defense of the
gospel.
18 What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretense, or in truth,
Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yes, and will rejoice.
2:16 Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of
Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither labored in vain.
Col 1:24 Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is
behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body’s sake, which
is the church:
25 Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which
is given to me for you, to fulfill the word of God;
1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this
mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
28 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom;
that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:
29 Whereunto I also labor, striving according to his working, which works in
me mightily.
4:2 Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;
3 With praying also for us, that God would open to us a door of utterance,
to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds:
4 That I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.
1 Th 1:4 Knowing, brothers beloved, your election of God.
5 For our gospel came not to you in word only, but also in power, and in the
Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as you know what manner of men we were
among you for your sake.
6 And you became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word
in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost.
2:9 For you remember, brothers, our labor and travail: for laboring night
and day, because we would not be chargeable to any of you, we preached to
you the gospel of God.
1 Tim 2:7 Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the
truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and
verity.
4:10 For therefore we both labor and suffer reproach, because we trust in
the living God, who is the Savior of all men, specially of those that
believe.
11 These things command and teach.
12 Let no man despise your youth; but be you an example of the believers, in
word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
13 Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.
14 Neglect not the gift that is in you, which was given you by prophecy,
with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.
15 Meditate on these things; give yourself wholly to them; that your
profiting may appear to all.
16 Take heed to yourself, and to the doctrine; continue in them: for in
doing this you shall both save yourself, and them that hear you.
2 Tim 1:10 But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Savior Jesus
Christ, who has abolished death, and has brought life and immortality to
light through the gospel:
11 Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the
Gentiles.
2:2 And the things that you have heard of me among many witnesses, the same
commit you to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
2:8 Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead
according to my gospel:
9 Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even to bonds; but the word of
God is not bound.
2:15 Study to show yourself approved to God, a workman that needs not to be
ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
2:24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle to all men,
apt to teach, patient,
25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure
will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who
are taken captive by him at his will.
4:1 I charge you therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall
judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke,
exhort with all long-suffering and doctrine.
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after
their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned to
fables.
5 But watch you in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an
evangelist, make full proof of your ministry.
4:17 Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me
the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear:
and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.
Tit 1:7 For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not
self-willed, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to
filthy lucre;
8 But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy,
temperate;
9 Holding fast the faithful word as he has been taught, that he may be able
by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the disputers.
2:7 In all things showing yourself a pattern of good works: in doctrine
showing soundness, gravity, sincerity,
8 Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary
part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.
Heb 4:2 For to us was the gospel preached, as well as to them: but the word
preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard
it.
1 Pe 1:8 Whom having not seen, you love; in whom, though now you see him
not, yet believing, you rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
10 Of which salvation the prophets have inquired and searched diligently,
who prophesied of the grace that should come to you:
11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in
them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and
the glory that should follow.
12 To whom it was revealed, that not to themselves, but to us they did
minister the things, which are now reported to you by them that have
preached the gospel to you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which
things the angels desire to look into.
1:25 But the word of the Lord endures for ever. And this is the word which
by the gospel is preached to you.
2:9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a
peculiar people; that you should show forth the praises of him who has
called you out of darkness into his marvelous light;
3:14 But and if you suffer for righteousness’ sake, happy are you: and be
not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;
15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an
answer to every man that asks you a reason of the hope that is in you with
meekness and fear:
2 Pe 2:5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a
preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood on the world of the
ungodly;
Rev 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of
their testimony; and they loved not their lives to the death.
14:6 And I saw another angel fly in the middle of heaven, having the
everlasting gospel to preach to them that dwell on the earth, and to every
nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,
7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of
his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the
sea, and the fountains of waters.
Ex 4:10 And Moses said to the LORD, O my LORD, I am not eloquent, neither
heretofore, nor since you have spoken to your servant: but I am slow of
speech, and of a slow tongue.
11 And the LORD said to him, Who has made man’s mouth? or who makes the
dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD?
12 Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth, and teach you what you
shall say.
De 6:4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:
5 And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, and with all
your soul, and with all your might.
6 And these words, which I command you this day, shall be in your heart:
7 And you shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of
them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you
lie down, and when you rise up.
1 Sam 12:23 Moreover as for me, God forbid that I should sin against the
LORD in ceasing to pray for you: but I will teach you the good and the right
way:
1 Ch 16:8 Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name, make known his deeds
among the people.
9 Sing to him, sing psalms to him, talk you of all his wondrous works.
23 Sing to the LORD, all the earth; show forth from day to day his
salvation.
24 Declare his glory among the heathen; his marvelous works among all
nations.
2 Ch 17:7 Also in the third year of his reign he sent to his princes, even
to Benhail, and to Obadiah, and to Zechariah, and to Nethaneel, and to
Michaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah.
8 And with them he sent Levites, even Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah,
and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijah, and
Tobadonijah, Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, priests.
9 And they taught in Judah, and had the book of the law of the LORD with
them, and went about throughout all the cities of Judah, and taught the
people.
10 And the fear of the LORD fell on all the kingdoms of the lands that were
round about Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat.
Ezr 7:10 For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the LORD, and to
do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments.
Neh 8:1 And all the people gathered themselves together as one man into the
street that was before the water gate; and they spoke to Ezra the scribe to
bring the book of the law of Moses, which the LORD had commanded to Israel.
2 And Ezra the priest brought the law before the congregation both of men
and women, and all that could hear with understanding, on the first day of
the seventh month.
3 And he read therein before the street that was before the water gate from
the morning until midday, before the men and the women, and those that could
understand; and the ears of all the people were attentive to the book of the
law.
4 And Ezra the scribe stood on a pulpit of wood, which they had made for the
purpose; and beside him stood Mattithiah, and Shema, and Anaiah, and Urijah,
and Hilkiah, and Maaseiah, on his right hand; and on his left hand, Pedaiah,
and Mishael, and Malchiah, and Hashum, and Hashbadana, Zechariah, and
Meshullam.
5 And Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people; (for he was above
all the people;) and when he opened it, all the people stood up:
6 And Ezra blessed the LORD, the great God. And all the people answered,
Amen, Amen, with lifting up their hands: and they bowed their heads, and
worshipped the LORD with their faces to the ground.
7 Also Jeshua, and Bani, and Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodijah,
Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, and the Levites, caused
the people to understand the law: and the people stood in their place.
8 So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense,
and caused them to understand the reading.
Ps 9:1 I will praise you, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will show forth all
your marvelous works.
11 Sing praises to the LORD, which dwells in Zion: declare among the people
his doings.
40:5 Many, O LORD my God, are your wonderful works which you have done, and
your thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order to
you: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be
numbered.
9 I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: see, I have not
refrained my lips, O LORD, you know.
10 I have not hid your righteousness within my heart; I have declared your
faithfulness and your salvation: I have not concealed your loving kindness
and your truth from the great congregation.
51:13 Then will I teach transgressors your ways; and sinners shall be
converted to you.
66:16 Come and hear, all you that fear God, and I will declare what he has
done for my soul.
17 I cried to him with my mouth, and he was extolled with my tongue.
71:15 My mouth shall show forth your righteousness and your salvation all
the day; for I know not the numbers thereof.
16 I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD: I will make mention of your
righteousness, even of your only.
17 O God, you have taught me from my youth: and till now have I declared
your wondrous works.
18 Now also when I am old and gray headed, O God, forsake me not; until I
have showed your strength to this generation, and your power to every one
that is to come.
24 My tongue also shall talk of your righteousness all the day long: for
they are confounded, for they are brought to shame, that seek my hurt.
73:28 But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the
Lord GOD, that I may declare all your works.
78:3 Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.
4 We will not hide them from their children, showing to the generation to
come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that
he has done.
5 For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel,
which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their
children:
6 That the generation to come might know them, even the children which
should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:
7 That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God,
but keep his commandments:
96:2 Sing to the LORD, bless his name; show forth his salvation from day to
day.
3 Declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people.
119:46 I will speak of your testimonies also before kings, and will not be
ashamed.
145:10 All your works shall praise you, O LORD; and your saints shall bless
you.
11 They shall speak of the glory of your kingdom, and talk of your power;
12 To make known to the sons of men his mighty acts, and the glorious
majesty of his kingdom.
13 Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures
throughout all generations.
Pr 10:21 The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of
wisdom.
12:20 Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the
counsellors of peace is joy.
13:14 The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares
of death.
16:21 The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the
lips increases learning.
23 The heart of the wise teaches his mouth, and adds learning to his lips.
25:25 As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.
Ec 12:9 And moreover, because the preacher was wise, he still taught the
people knowledge; yes, he gave good heed, and sought out, and set in order
many proverbs.
10 The preacher sought to find out acceptable words: and that which was
written was upright, even words of truth.
11 The words of the wise are as goads, and as nails fastened by the masters
of assemblies, which are given from one shepherd.
Isa 50:4 The Lord GOD has given me the tongue of the learned, that I should
know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakens morning
by morning, he wakens my ear to hear as the learned.
5 The Lord GOD has opened my ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned
away back.
52:7 How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of him that brings good
tidings, that publishes peace; that brings good tidings of good, that
publishes salvation; that said to Zion, Your God reigns!
58:1 Cry aloud, spare not, lift up your voice like a trumpet, and show my
people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.
Jer 1:4 Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
5 Before I formed you in the belly I knew you; and before you came forth out
of the womb I sanctified you, and I ordained you a prophet to the nations.
6 Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child.
7 But the LORD said to me, Say not, I am a child: for you shall go to all
that I shall send you, and whatever I command you you shall speak.
8 Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with you to deliver you, said the
LORD.
9 Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said
to me, Behold, I have put my words in your mouth.
15:19 Therefore thus said the LORD, If you return, then will I bring you
again, and you shall stand before me: and if you take forth the precious
from the vile, you shall be as my mouth: let them return to you; but return
not you to them.
20:7 O LORD, you have deceived me, and I was deceived; you are stronger than
I, and have prevailed: I am in derision daily, every one mocks me.
8 For since I spoke, I cried out, I cried violence and spoil; because the
word of the LORD was made a reproach to me, and a derision, daily.
9 Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his
name. But his word was in my heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones,
and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.
10 For I heard the defaming of many, fear on every side. Report, say they,
and we will report it. All my familiars watched for my halting, saying,
Peradventure he will be enticed, and we shall prevail against him, and we
shall take our revenge on him.
23:21 I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to
them, yet they prophesied.
22 But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my
words, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the
evil of their doings.
23:28 The prophet that has a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that has my
word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat? said
the LORD.
29 Is not my word like as a fire? said the LORD; and like a hammer that
breaks the rock in pieces?
Eze 3:17 Son of man, I have made you a watchman to the house of Israel:
therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me.
18 When I say to the wicked, You shall surely die; and you give him not
warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life;
the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require
at your hand.
19 Yet if you warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from
his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your
soul.
Dan 11:33 And they that understand among the people shall instruct many: yet
they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, many
days.
34 Now when they shall fall, they shall be helped with a little help: but
many shall join to them with flatteries.
35 And some of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purge,
and to make them white, even to the time of the end: because it is yet for a
time appointed.
Jon 3:1 And the word of the LORD came to Jonah the second time, saying,
2 Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and preach to it the preaching that
I bid you.
Mal 2:6 The law of truth was in his mouth, and iniquity was not found in his
lips: he walked with me in peace and equity, and did turn many away from
iniquity.
7 For the priest’s lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law
at his mouth: for he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts.
