THE SPIRIT, SOUL AND BODY OF MAN

Mt 6:22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore your eye be single, your whole body shall be full of light.
23 But if your eye be evil, your whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you be darkness, how great is that darkness!
25 Therefore I say to you, Take no thought for your life, what you shall eat, or what you shall drink; nor yet for your body, what you shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

11:29 Take my yoke on you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest to your souls.

16:26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

26:38 Then said he to them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even to death: tarry you here, and watch with me.

Mr 2:8 And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said to them, Why reason you these things in your hearts?

Lu 1:46 And Mary said, My soul does magnify the Lord,
47 And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior.

2:35 (Yes, a sword shall pierce through your own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.

12:18 And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.
19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have much goods laid up for many years; take your ease, eat, drink, and be merry.
20 But God said to him, You fool, this night your soul shall be required of you: then whose shall those things be, which you have provided?

Joh 2:18 Then answered the Jews and said to him, What sign show you to us, seeing that you do these things?
19 Jesus answered and said to them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and will you raise it up in three days?
21 But he spoke of the temple of his body.

Acts 2:26 Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope:
27 Because you will not leave my soul in hell, neither will you suffer your Holy One to see corruption.

2:41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added to them about three thousand souls.

19:21 After these things were ended, Paul purposed in the spirit, when he had passed through Macedonia and Achaia, to go to Jerusalem, saying, After I have been there, I must also see Rome.

Rom 1:9 For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers;

6:12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in the lusts thereof.

8:22 For we know that the whole creation groans and travails in pain together until now.
23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

1 Cor 2:11 For what man knows the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knows no man, but the Spirit of God.

6:19 What? know you not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which you have of God, and you are not your own?
20 For you are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

7:33 But he that is married cares for the things that are of the world, how he may please his wife.
34 There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman cares for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married cares for the things of the world, how she may please her husband.

13:3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profits me nothing.

15:44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.
45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.
46 However, that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.
47 The first man is of the earth, earthy; the second man is the Lord from heaven.

16:17 I am glad of the coming of Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus: for that which was lacking on your part they have supplied.
18 For they have refreshed my spirit and your’s: therefore acknowledge you them that are such.

2 Cor 2:12 Furthermore, when I came to Troas to preach Christ’s gospel, and a door was opened to me of the Lord,
13 I had no rest in my spirit, because I found not Titus my brother: but taking my leave of them, I went from there into Macedonia.

5:6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:
7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

7:13 Therefore we were comforted in your comfort: yes, and exceedingly the more joyed we for the joy of Titus, because his spirit was refreshed by you all.

12:2 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knows;) such an one caught up to the third heaven.
3 And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knows;)
4 How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.

Gal 6:18 Brothers, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.

Eph 5:28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loves his wife loves himself.
29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourishes and cherishes it, even as the Lord the church:

Php 3:21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like to his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things to himself.

Col 2:5 For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, rejoicing and beholding your order, and the steadfastness of your faith in Christ.

1 Th 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24 Faithful is he that calls you, who also will do it.

Heb 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened to the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

10:39 But we are not of them who draw back to perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

12:22 But you are come to mount Sion, and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,
23 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,

13:3 Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.

Jas 1:21 Why lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

4:5 Do you think that the scripture said in vain, The spirit that dwells in us lusts to envy?

5:20 Let him know, that he which converts the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

1 Pe 1:9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

3 Joh 1:2 Beloved, I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers.

Jude 1:19 These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.

Rev 6:9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:

20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was given to them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark on their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

Gen 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

9:4 But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall you not eat.
5 And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man’s brother will I require the life of man.
6 Whoever sheds man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.

Ex 35:21 And they came, every one whose heart stirred him up, and every one whom his spirit made willing, and they brought the LORD’s offering to the work of the tabernacle of the congregation, and for all his service, and for the holy garments.

De 6:4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:
5 And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might.

1 Ki 17:17 And it came to pass after these things, that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick; and his sickness was so sore, that there was no breath left in him.
21 And he stretched himself on the child three times, and cried to the LORD, and said, O LORD my God, I pray you, let this child’s soul come into him again.
22 And the LORD heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived.

Job 12:9 Who knows not in all these that the hand of the LORD has worked this?
10 In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.

14:22 But his flesh on him shall have pain, and his soul within him shall mourn.

19:26 And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:

27:8 For what is the hope of the hypocrite, though he has gained, when God takes away his soul?

32:8 But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty gives them understanding.

Ps 13:2 How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall my enemy be exalted over me?

31:9 Have mercy on me, O LORD, for I am in trouble: my eye is consumed with grief, yes, my soul and my belly.

34:22 The LORD redeems the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate.

42:5 Why are you cast down, O my soul? and why are you disquieted in me? hope you in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.
6 O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember you from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar.
11 Why are you cast down, O my soul? and why are you disquieted within me? hope you in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.

44:25 For our soul is bowed down to the dust: our belly sticks to the earth.

49:7 None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him:
8 (For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceases for ever:)
9 That he should still live for ever, and not see corruption.

63:1 O God, you are my God; early will I seek you: my soul thirsts for you, my flesh longs for you in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;

71:23 My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing to you; and my soul, which you have redeemed.

73:26 My flesh and my heart fails: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.

84:2 My soul longs, yes, even faints for the courts of the LORD: my heart and my flesh cries out for the living God.

103:1 Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
3 Who forgives all your iniquities; who heals all your diseases;
4 Who redeems your life from destruction; who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies;

142:3 When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then you knew my path. In the way wherein I walked have they privately laid a snare for me.

Pr 3:21 My son, let not them depart from your eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion:
22 So shall they be life to your soul, and grace to your neck.

8:35 For whoever finds me finds life, and shall obtain favor of the LORD.
36 But he that sins against me wrongs his own soul: all they that hate me love death.

11:30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that wins souls is wise.

20:27 The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.

29:24 Whoever is partner with a thief hates his own soul: he hears cursing, and denudes it not.

Isa 53:12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he has poured out his soul to death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

57:15 For thus said the high and lofty One that inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.
16 For I will not contend for ever, neither will I be always wroth: for the spirit should fail before me, and the souls which I have made.

66:2 For all those things has my hand made, and all those things have been, said the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembles at my word.

Eze 13:3 Thus said the Lord GOD; Woe to the foolish prophets, that follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing!

18:4 Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sins, it shall die.

Dan 7:15 I Daniel was grieved in my spirit in the middle of my body, and the visions of my head troubled me.

Zec 12:1 The burden of the word of the LORD for Israel, said the LORD, which stretches forth the heavens, and lays the foundation of the earth, and forms the spirit of man within him.
