LIFE IS CONTINUED AFTER DEATH
Mt 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the
soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in
hell.
17:1 And after six days Jesus takes Peter, James, and John his brother, and
brings them up into an high mountain apart,
2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and
his raiment was white as the light.
3 And, behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elias talking with him.
4 Then answered Peter, and said to Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here:
if you will, let us make here three tabernacles; one for you, and one for
Moses, and one for Elias.
5 While he yet spoke, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a
voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am
well pleased; hear you him.
6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore
afraid.
7 And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid.
8 And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.
9 And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell
the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead.
10 And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elias
must first come?
11 And Jesus answered and said to them, Elias truly shall first come, and
restore all things.
12 But I say to you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but
have done to him whatever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man
suffer of them.
13 Then the disciples understood that he spoke to them of John the Baptist.
22:23 The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say that there is no
resurrection, and asked him,
24 Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother
shall marry his wife, and raise up seed to his brother.
25 Now there were with us seven brothers: and the first, when he had married
a wife, deceased, and, having no issue, left his wife to his brother:
26 Likewise the second also, and the third, to the seventh.
27 And last of all the woman died also.
28 Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for
they all had her.
29 Jesus answered and said to them, You do err, not knowing the scriptures,
nor the power of God.
30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage,
but are as the angels of God in heaven.
31 But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have you not read that
which was spoken to you by God, saying,
32 I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God
is not the God of the dead, but of the living.
33 And when the multitude heard this, they were astonished at his doctrine.
Lu 16:19 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine
linen, and fared sumptuously every day:
20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate,
full of sores,
21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s
table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels
into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and sees Abraham afar
off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus,
that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am
tormented in this flame.
25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that you in your lifetime received your
good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and
you are tormented.
26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so
that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass
to us, that would come from there.
27 Then he said, I pray you therefore, father, that you would send him to my
father’s house:
28 For I have five brothers; that he may testify to them, lest they also
come into this place of torment.
29 Abraham said to him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.
30 And he said, No, father Abraham: but if one went to them from the dead,
they will repent.
31 And he said to him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will
they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.
23:39 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If
you be Christ, save yourself and us.
40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Do not you fear God, seeing
you are in the same condemnation?
41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but
this man has done nothing amiss.
42 And he said to Jesus, Lord, remember me when you come into your kingdom.
43 And Jesus said to him, Truly I say to you, To day shall you be with me in
paradise.
2 Cor 5:6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at
home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:
7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body,
and to be present with the Lord.
9 Why we labor, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.
12:1 It is not expedient for me doubtless to glory. I will come to visions
and revelations of the Lord.
2 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I
cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knows;) such an
one caught up to the third heaven.
3 And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot
tell: God knows;)
4 How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words,
which it is not lawful for a man to utter.
5 Of such an one will I glory: yet of myself I will not glory, but in my
infirmities.
Php 1:21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
22 But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labor: yet what I
shall choose I know not.
23 For I am in a strait between two, having a desire to depart, and to be
with Christ; which is far better:
24 Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.
Heb 12:22 But you are come to mount Sion, and to the city of the living God,
the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,
23 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in
heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made
perfect,
Jas 2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works
is dead also.
4:5 Do you think that the scripture said in vain, The spirit that dwells in
us lusts to envy?
1 Pe 3:18 For Christ also has once suffered for sins, the just for the
unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but
quickened by the Spirit:
19 By which also he went and preached to the spirits in prison;
20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the long-suffering of God
waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that
is, eight souls were saved by water.
4:5 Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the
dead.
6 For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead,
that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according
to God in the spirit.
2 Pe 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count
slackness; but is long-suffering to us-ward, not willing that any should
perish, but that all should come to repentance.
Rev 1:7 Behold, he comes with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they
also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of
him. Even so, Amen.
8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, said the Lord, which
is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
6:9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls
of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which
they held:
10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true,
do you not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?
20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books
were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the
dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books,
according to their works.
1 Ki 17:17 And it came to pass after these things, that the son of the woman,
the mistress of the house, fell sick; and his sickness was so sore, that
there was no breath left in him.
21 And he stretched himself on the child three times, and cried to the LORD,
and said, O LORD my God, I pray you, let this child’s soul come into him
again.
22 And the LORD heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came
into him again, and he revived.
Job 19:25 For I know that my redeemer lives, and that he shall stand at the
latter day on the earth:
26 And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I
see God:
27 Whom I shall see for myself, and my eyes shall behold, and not another;
though my reins be consumed within me.
