RESPECT FOR PARENTS
Mt 15:1 Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of
Jerusalem, saying,
2 Why do your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they
wash not their hands when they eat bread.
3 But he answered and said to them, Why do you also transgress the
commandment of God by your tradition?
4 For God commanded, saying, Honor your father and mother: and, He that
curses father or mother, let him die the death.
5 But you say, Whoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift,
by whatever you might be profited by me;
6 And honor not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have you
made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.
19:16 And, behold, one came and said to him, Good Master, what good thing
shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
17 And he said to him, Why call you me good? there is none good but one,
that is, God: but if you will enter into life, keep the commandments.
18 He said to him, Which? Jesus said, You shall do no murder, You shall not
commit adultery, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness,
19 Honor your father and your mother: and, You shall love your neighbor as
yourself.
Lu 2:50 And they understood not the saying which he spoke to them.
51 And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them:
but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.
52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.
Rom 1:29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication,
wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate,
deceit, malignity; whisperers,
30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil
things, disobedient to parents,
Eph 6:1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
2 Honor your father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;
3 That it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth.
Col 3:20 Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well
pleasing to the Lord.
1 Tim 5:1 Rebuke not an elder, but entreat him as a father; and the
younger men as brothers;
2 The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity.
3 Honor widows that are widows indeed.
4 But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn first to show
piety at home, and to requite their parents: for that is good and acceptable
before God.
8 But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own
house, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
2 Tim 3:1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall
come.
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud,
blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, truce breakers, false accusers, incontinent,
fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, high minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn
away.
1 Pe 5:5 Likewise, you younger, submit yourselves to the elder. Yes,
all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God
resists the proud, and gives grace to the humble.
Ex 20:12 Honor your father and your mother: that your days may be
long on the land which the LORD your God gives you.
Lev 19:3 You shall fear every man his mother, and his father, and
keep my sabbaths: I am the LORD your God.
32 You shall rise up before the hoary head, and honor the face of the old
man, and fear your God: I am the LORD.
20:9 For every one that curses his father or his mother shall be surely put
to death: he has cursed his father or his mother; his blood shall be on him.
Num 30:3 If a woman also vow a vow to the LORD, and bind herself by a
bond, being in her father’s house in her youth;
4 And her father hear her vow, and her bond with which she has bound her
soul, and her father shall hold his peace at her; then all her vows shall
stand, and every bond with which she has bound her soul shall stand.
5 But if her father disallow her in the day that he hears; not any of her
vows, or of her bonds with which she has bound her soul, shall stand: and
the LORD shall forgive her, because her father disallowed her.
De 27:16 Cursed be he that sets light by his father or his mother.
And all the people shall say, Amen.
Pr 1:8 My son, hear the instruction of your father, and forsake not
the law of your mother:
9 For they shall be an ornament of grace to your head, and chains about your
neck.
4:1 Hear, you children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know
understanding.
6:20 My son, keep your father’s commandment, and forsake not the law of your
mother:
21 Bind them continually on your heart, and tie them about your neck.
22 When you go, it shall lead you; when you sleep, it shall keep you; and
when you wake, it shall talk with you.
23 For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of
instruction are the way of life:
13:1 A wise son hears his father’s instruction: but a scorner hears not
rebuke.
15:5 A fool despises his father’s instruction: but he that regards reproof
is prudent.
20 A wise son makes a glad father: but a foolish man despises his mother.
19:26 He that wastes his father, and chases away his mother, is a son that
causes shame, and brings reproach.
27 Cease, my son, to hear the instruction that causes to err from the words
of knowledge.
20:20 Whoever curses his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in
obscure darkness.
23:22 Listen to your father that begat you, and despise not your mother when
she is old.
23:24 The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begets
a wise child shall have joy of him.
25 Your father and your mother shall be glad, and she that bore you shall
rejoice.
30:11 There is a generation that curses their father, and does not bless
their mother.
17 The eye that mocks at his father, and despises to obey his mother, the
ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.
Isa 3:4 And I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall
rule over them.
5 And the people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by
his neighbor: the child shall behave himself proudly against the ancient,
and the base against the honorable.
45:10 Woe to him that said to his father, What beget you? or to the woman,
What have you brought forth?
Eze 22:7 In you have they set light by father and mother: in the
middle of you have they dealt by oppression with the stranger: in you have
they vexed the fatherless and the widow.
Mic 7:5 Trust you not in a friend, put you not confidence in a guide:
keep the doors of your mouth from her that lies in your bosom.
6 For the son dishonors the father, the daughter rises up against her mother,
the daughter in law against her mother in law; a man’s enemies are the men
of his own house.
Mal 1:6 A son honors his father, and a servant his master: if then I
be a father, where is my honor? and if I be a master, where is my fear? said
the LORD of hosts to you, O priests, that despise my name. And you say,
Wherein have we despised your name?
